Mr Richardson asks 'The question is are there 500 people out there who have the club at heart. Words are easy, actions are hard, we know we have stood up over the years and been counted. Right or wrong, good or bad, the decisions we have made have been right for the club, now its your chance. What does this club mean to you?'.

A thread devoted to letting him know seems like a reasonable idea, so I'll start off;

Back in the 70's I was a Leeds Utd fan living in Doncaster, and occasionally went to the odd RL game at Tatters Field. The coach to Elland Road often went through Wakey, and the only thing of note on the way through was Belle Vue and the Theatre Club. Even as a soccer fan the name Wakefield Trinity retained an aura and commanded respect.

I moved to Wakey with my job, living in the city but not really feeling any ties to the city.

I started going to watch Trinity when my child started toddling - not because I felt any great love for the game, but because I wanted my child to have a sense of the heritage of their birthplace and, as many people have said before the only thing people outside of Wakey know about Wakey is Trinity (and Chloe Maffia now!).

The club,and the game, quickly got under our skin, and we are both now long-term season ticket holders. We have stood on wind-lashed terraces in the torrential rain, baking sun and swarms of bees to cheer Trinity on, and will do so while ever they ply their trade, at whatever level. Should the club fold - I'll watch Crigglestone or Eastmoor but not Cas or Fev or join the glory seekers at the Rhinos.

We've watched decent players bust a gut for the team, we've watched 'big names' take the p*ss and through it all we've stood on those bloody crumbling exposed terraces and shouted our team on. I've never yet criticised the directors for their lack of commitment while they've been swathed in relative luxury while I, and many others, have been soaked to the skin, frozen rigid and watched players whose enthusiasm has often been bled dry by off the field troubles.

Mr Richardson, the tone of your question is insulting to many fans who see this club as part of their very being. To try and use this love of the club to extract money to cover your failings is beyond the pale.

As a wire fan I am truly gutted about this, Wakefield has many loyal supporters who deserve better. I hope you get the money you need before the end of Jan, I wouldnt like to see you go down. I just think £1000 from 500 fans is a lot to ask! What do you get in return for putting your money into the club? Hopefully local businesses will put in a donation too! My fingers are crossed for you!!!!

I don't know if a more competent board would have averted this crisis altogether given the financial climate and the struggles the club faces outright, but the shares scheme built on promises that possibly can't be kept (and are irrelevant once/if the new board is formed, right?) and statements like this aren't likely to get 500 people opening their chequebooks... I don't think I would, if I had the money, for fear of where the club might well be headed - oblivion.

EDIT: I ought to add that it's not out of apathy because I love my club - as difficult as it is at times! - but money is no object and people could be pumping their cash into a black hole.

Whatever happens re this share issue Ted & co need to go. Simple as that.

Nothing but a clean break will give the club the fresh start it so desparately needs. We are the only SL club who are regularly in the media for all the wrong reasons and whether Ted likes to admit it or not, on 99.9% of such occasions, it is down to something he and the BOD have or havent done. There is too much bad feeling to them and the way they have run the club - not just from supporters but from people who have done business with the club under their stewardship.

Now as I've posted on other threads , I don't know your Bod , but what I can point out fairly surely that if you get involved in a pro sports club , you as a director will be pouring your money into a black hole , until you don't have any more left to pour

Just want to add that it's really sad watching what's happening to your club. We always have a great time when we come to your place and you always seem to have good numbers when I've been to your place (Might be cos Wigan are in town of course!!

If my club was in a similar position my heart would say to foot the money and as a life long fan I probably would. However, my head would say no as from what I've read there is nothing saying where the money os going and what the future plans are should the figure be reached with the 3 weeks.

Seems to me the seeds have already been sown.
