| Sorry if this has already been covered but as there will not be any real news until January or later I can not bring myself to read all the pages about Newmarket.
I thought when the ground was sold we were told we could play there until a new stadium was built no matter how long it takes. Do we know who bought it? I assumed it was more a transfer to one of Teds companies to help the balance sheet.
Can we stay where we are and play in the championship which is what I would prefer to a slow death sharing with Cas at their new ground? Can we wait a year or three until Newmarket is built and hope to get back to super league no matter how small that chance is or will the stadium be removed from the development plans with us out of Super League? Could we as a lower league club pay the rent on Newmarket on lower gates?
I can not see a long term future if we do not have our own ground or a very long lease to use Newmarket. I would prefer Super League but the main thing for me is to stay in business and play as Wakefield.

| Says in the Wakey Express today that its been sold and already has planning permission in place. Do not know who owned it do not know who has bought it either.
Has anyone else noticed the paper has completely dropped TRINITY from its reporting

| It has been bought by a property company, cala homes. They have planning permission on the site and have paid 50% of the price up front as a deposit. The plan is they take over the site at the end of 2011. Whether this could be renegotiated depends on the bigwigs of both sides coming to an agreement. But I know they want their investment to bear fruit sooner rather than later.

I seem to remember Cala homes being mentioned at some point, maybe we will find out more at the shareholder meeting.

| I'm told that the original buyer has pulled out, but that another property developer is about to sign on the dotted line; if that's true, perhaps it was Cala, but isn't anymore?
Not that it makes much difference, other than confirming that WTW will be officially homeless.

| Well this is what I heard last night it was mad friday so I phoned the lad back today to confirm.
We are seriously considering staying at Belle Vue and re developing it. Apparently the planning permission to built houses on it had a claus inforced by Sport England that it would only happen if a new home was found for Trinity in Wakefield. Although York Court were funding the community Stadium there were also grants secured by the community trust, so if Belle Vue was to be owned by the community trust this funding could be transfered. I wonder how much it would cost to flatten the north and west terrace build a seated stand on the north end of the ground a covered terrace on the west side, it will pass rfl critieria and keep us in the City. It might be just another rumour but could be a good option.

| I contacted a mate of mine this morning who is quite close to your club after reading a rumour on another forum about you staying at BV and doing it up, All he said to me was that apparently the club are looking at all options open to them at the moment and that was one of them. He would not say if the ground had been sold or the sale had fallen through or anything else like that, all he would say was that it was still an option to stay and improve it but all options would obviousley be disscused in the share holders meeting on the 4th. So maybee you don't need to go to barnsley, who knows.

Heard a similar sort of thing myself and if Belle Vue could be brought up to SL syandard then i would be more than happy.
As for the logistics of it, i reckon we could build a seated stand at each end and have corprate facilities in one of them perhaps a bit like the newest stand at headingly. We could also extend the terracing on the west stand to the walls at the back and perhaps put a roof on it making it into our version of the south stand at leeds and finally leave the east stand as it is, would this bring it up to SL standard?

| Would find it hard to see the redevelopment of BV being a viable option. Planning laws require venues to have at least some parking and decent infrastructure, of which BV has none.
The footprint is there, if a little tight down the Western Terrace.

| Cant ever see belle vue ever being a option there is no parking for one thing, too close to Doncaster Road to develop at some of the turnstiles you are nearly standing on the road when theres a que (not often, granted) surley it would be throwing good money away.
Dont know if it would be worth forgetting Newmarket cutting our losses and looking towards Normanton or even better Durkar surely the council could help.As i mentioned on another thread i did hear that Post Office Road was Plan B maybe that is the way forward as a merger option. There does not appear to be any easy options someone will have to make some dificult decisions, think Barnsley is unrealistic and i live there.

| So what I think we need to know from Ted is who owns Belle Vue. If he has sold it on the gamble that we get to Newmarket then we are in serious trouble. If it turns out we can can not stay where we are then we will end up renting at what even ground will take us and will slip down the leagues with the only hope that a mad rich person decides to buy some land and build a ground for us.
On the face of it looks like money has left the club. When it was sold we got a part payment which was more than the debt we had at that time but a few months later we could not pay our bills? I have never had a bad word for Ted as I think he has done the best he could and our time in Super League is down to him. Now he is out of money and may have signed away our long term future by taking away our home. I hope this isn't true and would love it if someone can tell me it's wrong.

| One thing that really will 'bug' me about leaving Belle Vue, is the last game. The ground will be packed , heaving with people who claim to support Trinity but haven't been for years but thought they'd come for the last game.
I sincerely hope that many of this type will not be able to lay their hands on a ticket, ones like my mate who has supported Wakefield for years but took his bat home after the Crusaders game at home last season. He reckons he will only ever come back for the last game at Belle Vue. Mate or no mate, I hope the 'rsole doesn't get a ticket.
While we're at it another thing that gets on my threepenny bits is going into a pub in the Wakey area after a game and people saying "how did we go on?". . You have been sat on your arris in the pub so you are not part of the 'we' until you get off said arris and put some brass down at a turnstile on match day/night.
Rant over.

the best answer to the " how did we get on" question is to say," if you were that interested you would have gone" that was my usual reply to the same question going home from the mac

I'm not actually from Wakey, it's a long story so I won't go into how I ended up supporting them (I certainly can't be called a glory hunter). I've been supporting them for abot 14 years, season ticket holder for ten and attend a lot of away games as well. Anyone that knows me will tell you how passionate I am about the club.
What really amazes me is the amount of people I've seen around the pubs in rhinos shirts that are from Wakefield, they actually have the cheek to take the mick out of the Wakey supporters.
Unfortunately, the attitude of a lot of people in the city is they'd rather spend the £20 on something else (drink?) and then they'll sit and tell you who played well etc!

Sadly this is an all too common tale, they all have reasons why they don't support the club, it would seem more fans watch Wakey on SKY than actually attend games on that day.
They are the missing link i'm afraid.
