| Last week heard on Humberside radio a lot of people asking other rugby league fans to boycott Cardiff due to Hotels businesses wanting to take the michael when it comes to prices for rooms. I have been going to Wembley for years and even though the prices have gone up over the years they haven't gone up like the Welsh prices. The guy who does commentary for Humberside sport booked a room for 2 nights when Hull City played Cardiff and paid £49.00 a night. He booked again for Magic weekend only to be told 2 hours later the price was £180.00. Has anyone else had this happen. Someone suggested that they use the Caravan sites but as the date has changed to Feb they are not open. I was thinking about sacrificing my Wembley trip to go to Cardiff at some point but if there is any truth in this Wembley will keep getting my money even though it's only one game. Opinions please..?

| Hotels that are convenient for Wembley tend to have higher prices anyway because of the proximity to London.
It shouldn't really be a surprise to anyone that hotels in easy reach of venues such as the Millenium Stadium put their prices up when major events are on. It's something that happened during the first 2 years in Cardiff & also happened in Edinburgh. A little concept known as commercialism.
If someone has been fortunate enough to book & pay for their room before the change of venue was announced (like I was for the first trip to Murrayfield!!!) then the hotel should be honouring that price as the contract has been entered into. This would normally also be the case for reservations where payment is made when you get to the hotel.
On the other hand, if someone originally checks the price before the official announcement has been made & then finds it's gone up when the news has broken IMO they only have themselves to blame.
The final thing to remember is that although it isn't a bank holiday weekend, it is the Valentines weekend so the hotels would already have been increasing prices anyway.

| I booked the Etap in Cardiff at the weekend for Fri, Sat & Sun. £60 per room fri/sat and £25 sun. Rooms are very basic & sleep three ( double bed and single bunk over). 0.8 miles from the stadium. Great value if you just want a bed to fall in to after a day drinking.
