This is it. Hundreds / Thousands of man hours; hundreds of thousands of pounds; Engineers / Architects / Professionals of all types and it boils down to one meeting of 15 elected people in a room in County Hall.

Dependant upon the decision are hundreds / thousands of jobs; a one-off opportunity to build and operate a Community Sports facility, owned and operated by a Community Trust, which will provide clean, safe, secure and state-of-art facilities to be the home of Wakefields only professional sporting club!

Included in the plans going forward are:
Gynasium
Sports Hall
4 Court Hall
Dance Studio
Multiple changing rooms
A full size indoor astro-turf soccer pitch
A 100m indoor track
An outdoor training / junior team pitch
Classrooms
A 400 seat restaurant
Massage bay
and more.....

These facilities will be available to the people of Wakefield, as well as to the club, and will finally put this City back on the sporting map!

Is Wakefield that well off that we can afford to turn our nose up at this wonderful opportunity? I most definitely think not!

So, please join us at 9am on Friday 22nd October on Wood Street; bring your friends / family / anyone in the street and, if you can, bring along a banner / poster of something that shows why you are there.

The theme of the morning is that we intend to applaud the Councillors as they approach the building. We want them to be aware that we are there to support them in making this very positive decision!

There may be objectors there - in this event we would ask for calmness and decorum. We are asking people not to rise to them, but to remain focussed on the positive nature of our gathering.

This is it folks - no turning back now!

I'm pretty sure there'll be some sunbeds incorporated in the gymnasium sbk so u should be fine! You'll be able to keep your readybreak glow all year round!

All the 'things' that TRB has listed will be included in the reserved matters application, of course the 100 + people at Belle Vue on Tuesday saw the detailed plans first hand both for the stadium and the College Centre/Community Sport Facilities. The Wakefield College involvement is very similar to the deal that the Rhinos/YCC have with Leeds Met Carnegie for the two Carnegie stands at Headingley with the full list of facilities being shared among Trinity, Wakefield College, The Community Trust and therefore the public of Wakefield. The interesting thing is that the only doubts centre around gaining planning permission, not the building of the facilities, if it gets planning it will get built pretty much (possibly some minor changes) as TRB has listed.

But thanks for you input and insight... or that is right, you clearly don't have any!

Spoke with the club today and WE NEED EVERYBODY POSSIBLE on Friday.

It IS the biggest day in the clubs history.......it is Plan A....Newmarket! We need this stadium.

Even if you can't go, send somebody who can!

We can't let our club we love just drift away because that's what certain individuals want.

I'm not feeling very optimistic about this project. Just seems there have been too many setbacks and too many hurdles placed in our way. I don't believe the council will back us on this. They led us on a merry dance re TP and I think they are doing the same here. Why did they favour Newmarket all along as a site and then suddenly turn round in the meeting and say we are only backing one stadium and that will be glasshoughton and we want you to share? If I can make it I'll be there next Friday but I believe there will be a lot of disappointed people and this day could be the beginning of the end of our once proud club.

that's why there is a plan B to put us on,

Newmarket area will be developed come what may in some form, the council would be foolish to allow this to go to waste there more than just a rugby clubs future at stake here, this development will make us the envy of other clubs

just for one day support your club in its hour of need even if you disagree at the way its run, its our club and I won't give up at any price

You seem to have the wrong end of the stick as to what happened at that meeting!

The Council did say they were only backing one community stadium and that was at Newmarket

Trust me if I can make it I'll be there, work commitments will decide whether or not I can make it. I'll never stop supporting the club I just have a horrible feeling that we are coming close to our sell by date. Fwiw I honestly do believe the council would be crazy to turn this venture down but hey this council really are crazy!

Why do you think Tricky Dicky Wright was so angry ... on telly and everywhere saying Wakefield had pulled out of the review, were going it alone and how pleased they would be to share Glasshoughton with us.

Do you really think he would care or say any of that if the Council had backed GH?

Catwoman don't believe everything you are told. Politics is a funny game. Were doing this alone. The likes of trb etc deserve medals. If this comes off they can proudly say they were involved in the saving of our club

just the presence on friday as they walk in will be enough to show the support to the club
