| All parties - in agreement - the way forward is at Newmarket. Not sharing/moving to Glasshoughton.

| All parties involved from Wakefield side of things all in agreement that Glasshoughton is not an option, Newmarket is the only way forward. A shared stadium is possible but it would have to be at Newmarket, and they would not consider going to Glasshoughton. TR was just setting the record straight - according to Radio Leeds.

| Hahaha that's the 'BIG' halftime announcement. So basically they HAVE pulled out of the feasiblity study and are going to try and get NM no matter what.

Putting it that way puts a whole different spin on things compared to the radio bloke saying the council agreed too.

My understanding of the announcement was that this shared stadium at Newmarket had 'full' backing from Wakefield Council. On that basis, Castleford staying at Glasshoughton doesn't?

| The council said they would only loan the land for a shared stadium so no point having the study now - if Cas do not want to come to NM then as above no funding for either

| Yep, Ted confirming that the only stadium that WTW will be moving to is at Newmarket!
A meeting with all the important parties involved has recognised this and even WMDC have pledged their full support to the NM project.
The statement also seemed to rule out any potential move to Barnsley but didn't rule out a Cas move to NM.
2012 was mentioned as the year WTW were expe ting to play at NM.

Or, as said yesterday another way at looking at it is Wakefield have essentially made an ultimatum - thus saying no to a ground share, meaning Cas get the 4m because they were open for a full and fair feasibility study, whereas Wakey have come out of this looking close minded and quite pathetic, they probably knew that Glasshoughton would have been the favoured location.
On top of that, if Rodney Walker claims all the funds are there, why do they need the council money?

| Isn't this the Wakey way? Didn't the council back the Thornes Park project?? I'd wait for the council's comments first.

Rather backs Mr Wright into a corner now doesn't it because there is no way they can fund GH with the land for now't or not.

What about Dicky Wright it was always going to be Cas own stadium until he realised you didnt have the funds. If as you keep saying you have the funds for a phased build, you don't need the councils money either and there is no way even box can justify using the full parcel for Glasshoughton

| The full backing of the council is the important thing here! If we have the full backing of the council I would assume the offer of the 2m land loan will still be available. If I was more optimistic I would think winks and nudges and been pointed in our direction regarding the planning permission. I'll wait until I see the full statement in print before forming an firm opinion.

Not really, because Wakefield didn't agree to the study, Cas did meaning Wakey pulled out of it, they don't need the money if Rodney Walker is to believed, meaning that the council have no reason not to give Cas the money, and even without it the stadium gets built, just not all 15,000 of it.

I still don't get, could you answer this, if Rodney Walker claims all the money is there, why were they after money from the council in the first place?

| If Wakey are so confident that the NW project is better than GH, why didn't they do the feasiblity study. If they were that confident then it would have been cut and dry. All Richardson has done today is to come out and say it's NM or nothing because he know the council will back GH. And I still feel that when a feasiblity study is done to find which project to give the money to, I feel it wil be GH.

I'm lead to believe council loan was part of the overhaul funding packedge.
Dickie Wrights recent change of heart just looks like a last desperate grab at available funds to get somewhere near some kind of attempt at getting the GH project of it's backside. It's quite clear all sources of funding for GH have well and truly run dry!
