is our backline the worst thats been at our club for a while or is it a reflection of the british game. everyone seems just to be roboted cant step, cant hand off and cant bloody tackle.are we any worse when you takethe aussies out

Today excepted, the pack is in decent enough order but our half back pairings and 3/4's are just not giving us enough. we have no attacking lines and are incapabable of even using dummy runners effectively, we normally give em it in a ridiculous position rather than passing to the man running behind and thats on the rare occasions we actually have em!

what i dont understand is our pack is playing ok so why cant halfs and backs play behind it, if we were going backwards then fair enough

Going off today I was a little surprised how easily Wigan seemed to win the forward battle, I expected a really fired up Trinity pack but they never seemed to kick into life.

The backs for Trinity today were always going to be an issue, and the production of quality English backs has been an issue for many many years but as Mopsey knows that is a wider issue of the English game.

To be fair our forwards were pretty poor today.

Collectively it's the worst I've seen all season, Moore had a shocker as did Korki IMO. Even King who has been exceptional week in week out for a while now didn't have the best of games.

There seems to be no confidence in the backline at all though, plus we don't get it out quick enough for them to have any space to work in. That's all due to a slow play the ball and poor distribution for me.

Agree with all that - our backs have been garbage all year really. Why its took so long to drop SG I'll never know.
We are too slow, clueless, no moves, and out of position.
We would have lost today to several Championship sides.

He'll play in France i believe.

We need a scrum half who can organise our play and come up with some decent tactical kicks. It is no good slotting players in positions they do not play regularly! Millard should be back next week, so i imagine he will play centre with Murphy. JD needs a rest, a long one!

We need to make a loan move for SH, what about McNally at Shudds?? Or move for Danny Orr who is reported to be seeking a move back to the North.

Theres a lad at wigan called Joe Mellor that they were raving about last season..possible loan???

I'm not really a big fan of his myself, but would be a bit difficult to blame him for yesterdays debacle.

Recovering from a bad injury won't be going anywhere this year I suspect.

i am in no way a big fan of sean gleeson, but with him out yesterday, did we look any stronger at all.

Millard will be staright in i assume next game, so Gleeson will have to put in the performances in the ressies

Talking about defensive patterns though. being a forward myself i watched korki and king in defence alot yesterday...i was impressed with king as he always comes up in the line alot whilst korki trundles up in the line even if they are attacking him...this left him exposed at least twice and simple drop offs meant they broke the line past him... if teams see this they will expose it like wigan did yesterday...

And we have the prospect of Kevin Penny to look forward to.

The future's really bright.

Getting a little worried about the future, I'm sure the light at the end of the tunnel is going out.

It's not going out it just keeps moving further away.

The problem with our back line in y opinion is that it is too small in terms of size and also lacks in power.

None of the centres or wingers currently at the club seem to have the strength to break tackles and i feel that we miss Atkins here as although he couldn't pass he did break through the defence.

I am not having a go at any of the current players for this as i feel that they all have their individual qualities but i just think that we need a bit more size in our backline.

Our backs are too slow in the handling and passing department for my liking and they don't let the ball go out to the wings anywhere near enough. You could have the 2 greatest wingers in the world but if they don't receive any ball you may as well play 2 amateurs on the wings.

In Super League you have to have slick handling otherwise you're going to have problems troubling the scoreboard as we all saw yesterday.

you lot dont have a clue, our attacking options are woeful we never create any space for our backs, we are one dimensional. if we were coached properly with some idea of what we were doing then fair enough blame the backs. JD is our top tackle breaker but he has to come in for scoots or he wont bet the ball same goes with all our backs. At themoment we are a poorly coached team full stop. Eve how highest try scorer in millard have been from kicks. we are useless at creating space for our 3/4's.

Not about the personnel imo. Nowhere does the coaching frailty become more apparent than when looking at our 3/4's were we are light years behind every other team in SL when it comes down to organisation in both attack and defense.

It has become an embarrassment to watch our vain attempts at scoring from shipping the ball out wide.
