I know it's only Wednesday, but im bored and really looking forward to Sunday. Thought I would start a bit of debate regarding possible selection headache's for Sunday. As has been mentioned in other threads, Les Cats posses a big and aggresive pack, which must be a consideration when JK picks his team. With Moore suspended, lack of fitness for King, Newton possibly injured and an unimpressive preseason for Mr Bibb, it won't be an easy selction to make. I think JK will go with the following..........

I don't think that is entirely fair when he went off injured early at Leeds and,according to reports as I wasn't at Hunslet,along with others had a poor game at SLS.
In the programme on Saturday Brian Mcdermott quoted Winston Churchill - ' Doubt causes weakness,belief creates strength ' - Kyle may still have been in doubt about being fully recovered from his injury,for the Hunslet 'friendly'.
He is our player and should be supported.He did not play last year in the (home) play-off game against Catalans,nor did he feature in the (home) pre-season game against Wigan.It is a new year - a new campaign.He will be assisted by some very experienced players in the pack and I can think of no better opposition for Kyle to win over the doubters and restore his own self-belief and strength to continue throughout 2010.

What's not fair?? I don't think you'll find anyone that says he has been 'impressive' in preseason.....do you?

Our backs aren't the biggest, nor are the halves. Therefore I think Newton (if fit) or Latu have to start at Hooker. Sam used as interchange hooker to exploit around the ruck.

Paul Johnson & Paul King to come into the 17, Richie Moore (suspended) & Newton (if injured) to drop, or Latu (if Newton's fit)

The match up of Gleeson and Millard v Raguin and Baile should be interesting. Catalan’s centres possess strength and power, where as Gleeson & Millard have good foot work and can put a winger away.

Just realised they signed Sa, so my argument is now null and void! Looking forward to watching Dallas Johnson too, he’s a tackling machine.

I think Catalan have had one warm up game, and should be slightly behind us in terms of preparation considering we’ve played our first competitive game. It might well be wise to consider working them over a little bit, playing good field position and running the ball as much as possible. You’d expect some of their forwards to tire

Agree with most, think they've played two though, although will still be behind us in prep. Looking forward to seeing Johnson also.

Hkr are welcome to him then based on what he has so far shown, the criticism of him is not based on one pre Xmas up, it's based on a couple of seasons of apathetic rugby, and in all fairness it's only because most of us think he is/was capable of so much more.
For me his standing with a lot of supporters is thoroughly justified, but if he were to get his head down and prove himself I for one would be be delighted for him.

Exactly how I see it.

He does not look like he wants to play for us at all he seems disinterested, when he went to KR he played well there according to reports so that shows even more that he has no drive to play well for us.

Bibb really has to step up, he has the size and the ability which he showed during his loan spell, but has flattered to deceive in the number of opportunities he has had at BV. Some props are late developers, Bibb may be one of them, but if he doesn’t improve he will develop else ware.

I'd rather start with Bibb than Henderson every time.

Put Henderson’s attitude into Bibb and you would have a hell of a player.

i dont no what people think but if it was me and if newton was fit i would go with johnson in the centres for gleeson with newton on the bench with obst hendo king, n have leo starting hooker again, am only saying put johnson in the centres because there a big big side and sa is a powerfull lad and i think we could have problems on gleeson side with him and young morton so put johnson in to the centres to beef it up a bit!! its only what i think guys dont jump down my neck!!

I wouldnt drop Latu for all the tea in China... he adds a spring and vitality to the team when he is introduced.. (he is an impact player from the bench...)

I know Demetriou gives his all, but asking him to fill two positions is a bit much.

Trinity need a big side against the Catalans, once that side is taken care of there is enough pace and craft in the backs to win the game.

He is actually correct IMO. What is the point in having a player Bibbs size if we don't use him. Opinions are split as to whether Bibb will make it but we will never find out unless we play him. Truth is, like it or not Bibb has the size and if JK can turn that potential into performance he is a far better option than Hendo. Is that not the truth.

No point playing Hendo in the front row other than in an emergency. He will never ever be a prop, he is and will always be a hard working utility forward of reasonable quality.

Bibb needs to show us what he has got or be shown the door, sooner rather than later. Pussy footing around won't help him or us. When we are a prop down he needs to be available and be used, otherwise whats the point.

Run with him on sunday and see how it goes.

I take your point, and what you say is in theory absolutley spot on, but IMHO Bibb has been given chances and not really taken them. For what it's worth I am of the opinion that if JK and Beans continue to work with KB he has the pottential and size to do a decent job for us in the front row, but right at the moment in time I would utilise KH instead as a stop gap, his lack of size is more than made up for with his desire/attitude/work rate/defence.

KH is not an ideal option at prop, but he puts his body on the line and runs the ball in hard.

How many props actually bust tackles anyway? The modern game is as much about hitting the right area's of the man you are running at and then working from the floor quickly (i.e. quick PTB) to get the team on a roll.

I can see where your coming from regarding Bibb needing some game time etc but dropping Henderson for Bibb would be ridiculous IMO I can only guess you didnt go to the Harliquins match or seen the DVD. Henderson was one of our better players on Saturday. If your going to drop anyone for Bibb, IMO it has to be one of Newton, Obst, Latu purely on the fact that we can afford to drop one of the three.
