with the confirmation of king and now johnson, that takes us to what? 7 new signings in the off season? we dont think there are any more to come...so...i ask...for your seasons predictions...

I think there will be some typical wakefield games again this term, where we grab defeat from the jaws of victory. however, i think they will be few and far between...or at least im hoping so!

after looking around other boards, it seems as though the giants are bulling themselves up for another CC final appearance (and typically, like most, have us down to finish somewhere near the bottom) - however with our blend of youth and experience, i think we're in with a shout of a CC final - king kear has a couple more pieces to that puzzle and this season we have more players who know what its like to play in the big games.

we've signed up several young lads from an outstanding crop of academy players who have no reason but to bust a gut day in day out - lets remember, theyre not here to make the numbers up - we're not that kind of club any more.

personally id like us to go one better in the league and finish in the top 4 - however, 5th last year was a great achievement and id like us to at least equal that.

So, im going for a 5th or better finish in the league and at least a CC semi final....

I think backing up our best season in more than 20 years with another just as good is a VERY stretching but achievable target. I think top 6 is a realistic tagret. Predicting the cup is bonkers - we should ofcourse target winning it but there is a big element of luck of the draw involved.

The squad on paper is better then last years, however, others will have also improved. Wire, Hull and Bradford will have better seasons this year then last so although the collective ability of the team has increased, the final position may further down the table. A top 8 finish would be satisfactory for me. I would say 7th.

A cup run would be nice but Trinity seem to bottle it when they come up against SL opposition.

I reckon they will be in the top 2 and with the playing roster and coaching staff involved i cant see why people are looking at being "average" i.e 5th 6th 7th. It will come down to belief - because in my opinion we certainly have the ability.

top 8 and i'll be happy. expectations are perhaps understandably high but we need to retain perspective imo

I think we overacheved last season and there'll be a bit more pressure on us this season but with the squad we have plus we have the best youngsters too i think 5th again

Would be delighted to be in the play-offs again and I think this is what we should be aiming for to prove that we "add to the competition" for our next application

think its more that a couple of teams below us under acheived, but i'm happy with any play off spot, Dont be greedy

I don't think we will do better than last year as I belong to a small group that believes our Club massively over-performs year on year.

Have to say I find this quote hard to understand.

If we over-perform year on year doesn't that just mean that you are simply under-estimating Wakey's ability and potential year on year?

So which is wrong - your judgement or the team's ability to perform well?

i'll go 5th possibly 4th and we always seem to do it the hard way.

This year is really hard to judge. Year on year we have a squad of 'workers' who are hounded by all as being potential wooden-spoonists, but almost always shock the pundits and achieve more than they expected.

This year we do have some genuine class in more than just one or two positions. Pace in the backs; off-loaders in the pack and centres; power in the props; everything in the halves and hookers; quality in the back row - all top notch.

IF we can get them to gel and, IF we can stay clear of injuries, then we have the potential to compete with anyone. However we are not the only competitive looking side and that makes it even harder to judge.

As for next season, we've reached a CC cup semi and narrowly lost and also reached 5th and a play off spot in our last two seasons.

It would be nice to achieve both in this coming year, that would be incremental progress as far as I'm concerned. Without the heartbreak of Adam, Don, Ken, David & Leon to cope with maybe our players can play with a smile on their faces and really entertain us all.

Last but not least; we've had a bad speight of injuries in each of the last three seasons so a relative injury free run would be nice.

I believe my judgement year on year is based on a realistic view of potential. I'm not sure why this is difficult to understand. The facts of the matter are that I don't believe any of the clubs who finished above us last year have weakened. I do believe teams below us last year have strengthened. Whether we have strengthened is not clear to me yet, and I will not achieve a clarity of view until I have seen the team play. I do think on paper we have better players in my first choice 1-17 but this is not the same as saying we will perform better. For a start we don't play the game on paper, and we have a few new player relationships required to click.

My comment also expresses a view which I maintain throughout the season that as a small club (in terms of resources) we do well to compete year on year.

I don't think my judgement is 'wrong' because this is a prediction thread based on views not a judgement thread based on fact. I will however be more than happy to be proved wrong, but by the same token will not moan because we have dropped a few points and may be at the wrong end of the table.

We have had the season of "do it for Adam". We have had the season of "do it for Leon" Now we have to put that behind us and "DO IT FOR YOU"
On paper we now have one of the strongest squads we have ever had, one of the most committed teams that we have seen for a long time, the best coaching set up that has ever been seen at Belle Vue. there is only one position for us this time. Super League winners, And i will put my money wherre my mouth is, I will put my 50p on it

My prediction is simple.

To win more than we lose.

To make the playoffs

To have a decent cup run

and hopefully finally beat Leeds at Belle Vue sorry the Hearwell Stadium

I very much doubt any motivation can lift them higher than Adam/Leon but i understand the point.

You will lose your 50p but you'll get you're moneys worth from it.

This will be the 22nd season I have been going to Belle Vue.

And whilst we may not finish in the top five again, for the first time in 22 years, I will go into as season thinking we can give any side in country a run for their money, home or away.

The only disappointment for me is that we have to wait till February for it all to start!

I have good news we start in january.

Wildcats to finish in top 4 with a real chance of Old Trafford. The squad on paper looks strong but injuries, poor refs and belief are all factors in Super League 15.

Lets get some civic pride back and make Belle Vue Stadium a fortress again. I am sick of Leeds Whinos winning it, Wildcats Super League Champions as such a great ring to it

Were that to happen, along with the new ground (which will) I'd be all over the other club boards like a rash (as I suspect would most of you), banned from em all within three hours of the Grand Final Trophy being presented.
