| Fair play to Myler in that he took his two tries well, but he was otherwiswe invisible in the game, and a half-back should run the game. He may have promise, but standing out at Salford is not the mark of a great player. Standing out at Wigan or Saints, like Tompkins and Eastmond have, is a better guide.
Maybe in two years time, he will be of the right grade, but Tony Smith should not use the England side to give his club players big match experience.

| Shenton,Shaun Briscoe,Moore,Westwood and to an extent Myler are not international class and what the hell happens to Sinfield and his kicking game when he sticks on a England jersey.
After last week and tonight how Brough never made it...........speechless.
It also shows the real lack of depth in SL when you take out the foreign contingent.
We are left with Wilkin,Tomkins,Carvell,Crabtree,Bridge,Fox and Sykes to call on which does'nt fill you joy in abundence does it.
I dread to think what could happen in the next 2 weeks.
This would be my call with what we've got to play with,
Briscoe
Hall
Eastmond
Smith
McGuire
Tomkins
Peacock
Roby
Graham
Ellis
Burgess
Sinfield
Crabtree
Morley
Wilkins
Bridge

If Lee Smith has played his last game for Leeds then what is the sense in him playing for England in this comp? Surely it is the most short sighted selection in history.

| Wasn't the reason Smith left out Tomkins was because he doesn't organise and lacks structure. I have to say i didn't see much organisation or structure from either Myler & McGuire.
I felt sorry for Sinfield, i think he felt the pressure of taking the reigns, because we don't have a halve with a decent kicking game. Myler might have scored a couple of tries but that doesn't paper over the cracks in my opinion.
Tomkins must play against New Zealand and maybe even Eastmond. Not ideal but i'm sure they'd do better then Myler & McGuire

| Eastmond has got to start at 7. McGuire is still a class act, and to face the Aussies just a few months after coming onto the top flight scene might expect too much of Tompkins.

agree that eastmond must start at 7
as for mcguire, ive always maintained that he is a great reader of the game, which makes him a great support player...he is fast and has good footwork - those qualities make him a great finisher....
however, he lacks creativity...
as for myler, he basically played against le catalans last night and struggled. yes he took a try well but that wont stop the aussies and kiwis exploiting every crack in his game! he even used the oldest trick in the book - grew a bit of facial hair to make himself look more grown up/intimidating
the england team is badly short of quality playmakers...eastmond aside, there is diddly squat...
for me...mcguire and myler out, brough and tomkins in...broughys rough and ready and you know your youre going to get...someone whos strong on defence, someone who has a good long and short kicking game, someone who can kick at goal and someone who respects no one, gets stuck in and rattles a few cages....
and tomkins...clearly capable on attack and defence, takes the line on, isnt afraid, gives the opposition something to think about. for such a young lad he is fearless !!!

| McGuire is great at backing up but how many line breaks will we make against the Aussies and Kiwis? Not that many if you ask me so McGuires best talent goes to waste. Also McGuire is weak in defense, putting him out wide won't do any good with the likes of Inglis and Folau ready to run at him.
Tomkins may be inexperienced but he looks to me to be the type who isnt scared and will just get out there and have a go without being over awed, Eastmond was arguably Saints best player in the Grand Final and that was in a position he's not accustomed to; so already hes showing great maturity in his tender years. Give them both a go.
Myler scored two v France but was yet non existant and again hes weaker than Eastmond and Tomkmins in defense. Half backs usually defend out wide and lets face it thats where we're going to need some help so picking two players who arent the best tacklers to say the least would be madness, I also believe Tomkins and Eastmond would have far more creativity between them too.
Its a travesty Brough has been left out as the kicking game last night was dreadful and Danny is a big game player who would thrive playing against the aussies. Some of Smiths selections are a joke, it seems its a matter of who you know not what you know.

| Tony Smith needs sacking now, England struggled last year only narrowly beating PNG and last nights performance was pathetic for at least 60 minutes. T.Briscoe, Shenton, L.Smith, Myler, Moore, Westwood, Sinfield are not international players.
The level of Super League is not up to standard and the players we are producing are well off the pace except for Eastmond and Tomkins who i feel should be the half backs now.
The skill levels in England are poor with errors such as Penalties for incorrect PTB, Too many unforced Knock On's, Nothing kicks, poor handling and lack of british talent. I was glad for Bobby Goulding because these guys are easily lost in the british game when we should be intergrating them into coaching positions, the likes of Gary Schofield, Ellery Hanley, Paul Loughlin, Denis Betts etc should be given opportunities and not just as pundits.

| Just out of interest did Eddie say tonight that Hayne who played for Australia tonight played for Tonga or Somoa in the World Cup?
If so, it means that Brough was available (if he wasn't injured) and simply wasn't picked. Strange from Tony Smith if true

| Is there only me who hates all this changing countries?
Play for the country you were born in and stick with them. No-one should be allowed to change which country they represent, Danny Brough included. That's why international rugby is a joke.

Put him in the Salford team then see how good he is he should be nowhere near the England set up good support player with decent pace but bugger all else
Young Tomkins is already a better player give him a chance

I said opportunities such as youth development posts, player performance posts etc, i am afraid after watching the game last night we are a million miles away from the intensity that Australia and New Zealand bring to International Rugby League
