I realise our crowds have dropped this season and many people were quite suprised at some of the figures that we announced early in the season. I think many clubs have inflated their crowds for various reasons
and it has now become the norm to do so.

Anyway, I watched the celtic/Catalan game on TV and from my estimation there were no more than 800 supporters along the televised side of the ground. There was no one behind the sticks at one end and about 20 people at the other end. There were very few shots of the main stand but from what I saw it was far from full. It also seemed quite a small stand so I would think there was probably less than 500 in it. However the offical gate was 2927 !

Not going down this weekend but would be interested if any of you could
pay particular note to the crowd and report back with your estimates.
This should not be too difficult because in the game I mentioned the crowd was that thin you could just about count everyone

Lets see if you are lying first shall we because there is no way there was
3000 there for the last game, unless the majority of the crowd were watching it on a big screen at the back of the stands.

We'll be very lucky to get 4500, it was so disappointing on Sunday. 5037 crowd was a shocker when Huddersfield brought a good following and we gave out 510 to local school children according to our web site.

maybe a good win on the box will encourage a few more down.

why ? whats the point? what does it matter? i will be doing what i do every single week, going there to support our guys. i don't give a stuff how many they have got. but to be fair i hope they have a good gate and hope we get a big win.

The point with all this is that we are beating ourselves up about or crowds, and rightly so. However I also think other clubs are suffering from poor crowds but mask the figure by creative counting. I am not picking on celtic for any other reason other than their crowds are so small its far easier to see that they appear to be inflated.

Remember in a couple of years crowd figures will be focused upon at franchise time. Will we be shooting ourselves in the foot by giving a true gate or should we do what some others do ?

What would we gain from inflating crowd figures?

A bigger tax bill for one. Then we need to contact the people at Newport to ensure we don't let them tell people we only have 800 there for that game.

I tell you what mate, sky plus it and count them yourself. I'll be the one with the 'I can't believe some s counting us' look on his face.

Actually, I enjoy counting the crowds at the stoop...doesn't take too long


Still, with 136 years of history behind your great club I find it funny how Other teams attendance figures interest you....especially when
you are 16.5% down on last years average for the corresponding games

Actually Mr Stats. do not confuse me with somebody what gives a t*ss about anybody elses' attendances. I just responded to your obvious amusement at crucrucrusaders reply to PB's post. And by the way fwiw the the thread was about Celtic v Cats'. Thanks for pointing out our gates are down this season by 16.5% cant say as I'd noticed.
