| Right, i heard alot of supporters after the game at murrayfield giving Scott a load of unneccessary jip. He knows he hasn't had the best games in the last couple of week, as he walked off on saturday, on his own with his head down. Also, stupid comments like getting rid off him and selling him on, after a couple of poor performances is unbeliveable. We should take into consideration that he has come back from an injury and been put out of position, on the wing.
Instead off ripping the lad to peices, hows about we get behind him, cheer him on and get his confidence back up to top level.

He's struggled since he's returned form injury, but thats the same bloke who's played very well for us and i'm sure he's unhappy with the ways things are going.
Giving him jip is just plain silly IMO and unfair on Scott.

| I agree - Grix is not a winger and has clearly been asked to do a job there due to lack of numbers. Fair play to him, he has given 100%, but the fact that he is not used to the position coupled with the failings generally in our sliding defence has made him more exposed than he should have been.
Lets not foget it was Blanchy (probably or best winger) who got caught out on numerous occasions against Wigan.
As with a number of our players, for the money we pay him, Grix represents excellent value for money

| I think it’s unfair for people to target Grix, there were a number of occasions when certain players made the wrong decisions, which cost us dear.
For me though, the coaching staff should take the ultimate responsibility for Saturday’s defeat. I felt the initial line up was incorrect and Martin should have played at S.O. But from early on in the piece it was glaringly obvious we were getting skinned down the left side, yet it wasn’t until the wingers were swapped around did it improve, but by then, much of the damaged had been done.
It’s a shame the game was on TV really, because, without the Video ref, we would have probably been allowed two of the tries. I thought the ref had a decent game, but, if teams can be warned for constant messing about at the ruck, shouldn’t he have warned Bradford for the persistent ball stealing in the second half?

| Grix clearly didn't have a great game, but it certainly isn't his fault that JK picked him to play in a position he clearly isn't comfortable with.
The fact that we didn't have 2 genuine three-quarters on our left hand side in the first half was our biggest problem and the blame for that needs to be paced firmly with JK.
I'm NOT saying I want rid of JK - far from it, but, I do think he made a mistake in his selection for the team on Saturday - he had Gleeson in the 19 and should have played him. That would have given us the option of playing Grix at SO with Obst interchanging with Drew at hooker.
Personally, I think that would have given us a more balanced side that would probably have been able to deliver the result we deserved for what I felt was the more dominant side overall.

That is exactly the problem years ago, I was involved in a pre season match at Mount Pleasant against Batley for Halifax. I was asked to play on the wing by Steve Nash. I was like Grix primarily a stand off, full back, centre or loose forward. I was found wanting at half a dozen times in the first half, so I know how the lad feels. Playing on the wing is a specialist position, you either are a winger or you are not. I am sorry to say it Grix isn't, but before the boo boys start thinking I agree with them, ask yourselves one question if not Grix then who do you play there.

| JK needs to sit down and decide where Grix plays because he ain't a utilty back. It isn't doing anyone any good shoving him here there or anywhere.

| good point, grix is getting a lot of hammer but to be honest some of the blame lies squarely with the centres inside him, they have been diving in all over the place leaving him with 2 on 1.
same happpened to blanch too

| Scott is struggling for form at the moment, he has been disappointing since returning from injury, although for a lot of Bradford's tries, he was not the only culprit for allowing Sykes way too much room. Come on Grixy, we know what you're capable of, please prove it against the pies next week.

| I thought Grix was going to get some stick but the problem as I saw it was the sliding defence. Yes most of the time Bradford had two players outside Grix and we looked paper thin down that side but if Grix had stayed on the touchline then you could have driven a bus down the inside of him. Poor bloke he can not win whatever he does if the team does not slide out.

Now lets take stock of what you have said here because i think im about to commit blasphemy on this board and break one of RLFans 10 commandments.
Would it be fair to say John Kear is at fault for playing him out of position? Lets be honest Grix stands up and takes the shirt but at Hull the game changed when kear moved things about. The problem is though who considering the current injury situation does kear pick above Grix????? .
We need to recover from the current injury crisis i think before we can start criticize

Yep - but we aint got anybody else fit to be fair.
However, it is the defensive pattern that we have got well wrong. Grix was in the right position in relation to his inside man, yet on occassion had 2 men outside him - that is not his fault.
We were clearly found out against Wigan on one wing and against Bradford on the other - it is the pattern of play that we are not executing well enough - i.e. no one is reading what the opposition are doing - so when they slip the full-back + one other into the right side attack, we don't adjust, result - TRY.
Very very poor!

| Grix was always on a loser. He was never going to beat his oppposite winger for pace and he was never going to win in a jump for a high ball. I don't remember a defensive howler by him, I just remember that he was being out-paced. If a winger gets outnumbered, the problem is usually further in, and I don't think you can actually blame the winger.
For me, Bradford just played better on the day. Their defence was superb in the second half, and they played with some zip in the first. I'm just hoping that we take the second half form into the weekend, although I suspect that Wigan will hit a purple patch now.

I watched the game at 12.30 this morning and i must agree Slugger. The problem was eminating from the inside and Bradford threw alot of numbers that side from the off, they obviously targeted that side and it took us a while to get sorted. Grixy unfortuately was the one on the end of it. Bradford played well agreed.
Overall we werent all that bad, we had decisions go against us and Fergies injury didnt help our subs rotation. We could do with Stosic coming back, he helps lay a good platform
I feel that our short kicking game should be more along the ground rather than chips over the top which more times than not are giving our opponents 20 metes tap restarts far to easily. Most of our players really put in on Saturday the stats show that.
good luck against Wigan i am sure i will hear your voices singing out loud like i always do win or lose.
Cheers Con
