| With (hopefully) the return to fitness of our recognised playmakers imminent, Brough,Grix, Drew, Latu, Obst, Southernwood and eventually Rooney, what will be the pecking order? I`d go with Drew @ 9, Grix @ 6 and Brough @ 7, with Latu orObst on the bench. Although Ithat may be a bit harsh on Sam given his form before injury. An abundance of riches there, and certainly competition for places, I`m glad it will be JK`s problem, not mine, thoughts?

| I'd actually keep Martin as 6, Brough 7, Drew 9 and Obst or Latu as the interchange. Rooney and Grix would be reserve, although Grix can play almost anywhere so he wouldn't have to wait long.

I was assuming that Martin would revert to Centre, as I don`t think we`ll see Halley in the next couple of weeks, which I asume would see Gleeson move onto the wing until Petersen is fit, by which time Halley`s loan spell will be nearly up, although the way Bulls are playing I can see an early recall in the offing anyway.

| not sure if people will agree with me on this one but i dont like the idea of having sam and latu o the bench together so i'd go for obst at 6 brought 7 drew 9 grix 13 moving demetriou to 12 and latu on bench thoughts?

| I thought I read somewhere on the Trin website that they were going to update everyone early this week regarding injury sittuation??
Lots of unanswered questions for this weekend....How bad was the knock that Drew took, will he be fit? Will Sam/Danny/Leo be fit? How long will Scott and James be out for? Is Luke George fit? Is David Halley fit?
I take it Ryan will be back because it was 'only' sickness etc.....I realise that nobody will know all the answers, but seems the 'treatment room' hasn't been updated for about two weeks or so.........
anyone actually know anything, or are we guessing?
would also be nice to get an update regarding Richard Moore and Jamie Rooney.

| From what i gather they only update the treatment room when they are 100% convinced of the time out or assessment of an injury. It could well be with Sam, Scott and James that they are still unsure exactely how long they will be out for.
Probably the same with Danny Brough. He keeps putting his hand up to play but the coaching staff are not 100% convinced.
I'm sure when there is news we will hear about it!

I've heard that he's started running again this week, a long way to go but the first step to a full recovery hopefully

| Given our luck (or rather lack of it) with injuries I doubt very much that we will have the luxury of having a clean enough bill of health for all the players to be considered in their preferred positions. Luckily we are blessed with some versatile players like Grix, Martin, JD.
My preference would still be for a Grix - Brough - Drew combination with Obst / Leo-Latu interchange.
Isn't it wonderful to have such an abundance of talent in this area that everyone's opinion is equally valid

| interesting artice ion rugby League world where JK was commenting a potential England team of the future and he put Scott Grix at 6.
Its an intersting poser for JK as last year IMO the half back pairing were never really resolved. Wouldn't be surprised to see Grix and Brough at 6 and 7. Drew has been great at hooker with Obst and Latu vying for the hooker role off the bench. Possible to put Latu at 13.

| I would agree with that combination, but like you say it's nice that several combinations could be easily justified......
Nice to hear Richard is starting to do a little bit...........good luck to him, on what will be a long road

On the last paragraph of the attached link on the wildcats site it states that the club will be updating supporters with the current injury situation on Friday.

I definitely see Grix as a future S/O however Martin appears such a natural at the moment that I wouldn't change a thing. Grix simply hasn't got the craft at the moment that Martin has. I realise that to gain this he needs the time to develop but time is on his side. Personally I haven't seen such creativity as Martin offers for a long time and I'm in no hurry to lose it. Sorry Grixy but you will have to wait.

| How has Blaymire been doing so far this year, i would assume with a fully fit team Blaymire and Grix could well be in direct competition with each other for the number 1 shirt.
I personally have always liked Latu in the backrow, normally at loose, can cause defences all kinds of trouble, including his own to be fair at times.
Top of my head i would go with.
13.Latu
9.Drew
7.Brough
6.Matin/Grix (agree with Vastman from what i have seen Martin has been pretty impressive thus far)
1.Blaymire/Grix
Bench. Obst (cracking player)
Trinity do have strength in depth in the halves, the only concern is that shifting them around too much throughout the season could well disrupt the team, the sooner you get them all back and a settled combination on the field the better it will be, even if that combination does have the odd back game, although the teptation would be to change it, i think unless the performances were consistantly poor it would be dangerous to change.

IMHO Peterson is Blaymire competition at F/B. Grix for me isn't a F/B but only for the crucial reason that he can't as yet take the high/bouncing ball with confidence. Blaymire has his fumble but is far more assured. Both need to improve there cover tackling to compete with the best in the game.

For me Obst isn't a playmaker more a game breaker. He has to be in the 17 but could cover a multitude of role, I think he's have a go at propping given the chance. It's more a case of who is first choice hooker Drew or Latu and at the moment Latu better see if he can plat 13

| Latu is the gamebreaker - not Obst. Even Drew is more of a gamebreaker than Obst.
Obst improves our defence and is why i would start with him; and he can do it for 80 minutes.

I think you miss my point in that he isn't a playmaker IMO like Drew or Brough are. I'm Obst biggest fan but that part of his game is limited. He is a game breaker in that he can open up a defence when nothing is on but it's usually an individual effort. This effectively can break a game wide open.
What he can't do and Drew in particular can is change the whole patter of the game by changing his and the teams tactics. Obst has never been able to do that, what he does is tackle all day, makes valuable yards, and attacks the line effectively at close range. What he rarely does is find the killer ball that releases anyone else, not a complaint just the way he plays.
I realise there are different ideas as to what a game breaker is and it can all get a bit pedantic but in the context of his thread I think the point I'm making is valid. Ost gives us options which can be gemebreaking.
Finally Latu is a matchwinner IMO and hopefully he will do it for us one day.

| watch the difference Obst made in the first 15 minutes vs Warrington before he went off.
I know we ended up convincing winners after that, but we were much more cohesive and threatening on the opponent's line in the time he was on the field and directing play.
Sam can be the playmaker, it is just that the roles we have employed him in during his time here (hooker usually) have limited his opportunities to showcase what he can do.
Benching Obst is a waste though IMO
