this is a very carefully worded statement which keeps all parties on board whilst making our position re GH clear, nothing more, nothing less, Id expect a similar one from cas tomorrow.'"
I mean originally the council said they would only fund 1 stadium.Taking into account the statement today it seems to me the council are backing wakey.I may be wrong we will have to wait for a cas statement.

Quite simple: that the various posters who have stated on previous pages that the Newmarket development has the full backing - or even FULL BACKING - of the council are reading more into the statement than it actually contains.

That getting Cas on board (not the Trin forum) and indirectly sending out vibes that they need us is a huge filip for us in gaining project momentum?

| Merely words in my opinion.
Until a stadium is actually built at Newmarket and WTW are playing in it, I won't be happy.

The only reason I post on here is because most of the discussion is here. No Cas fans on our forum. Aside from that, there's a difference between trolling and making comments which nail the truth.'"
It shouldn't need re-stating, but it clearly does, so for the record: Everyone is welcome to add their comments to this any any other debate on this board, providing they abide by the rules for posting on this board. That's always been the position of the board moderators, and is not about to change. So you keep enjoying yourself on here, mate, if that's what takes your fancy.
Back to the debate:
The unfortunate thing about this whole situation is that it places both clubs in an impossible situation, and has pretty much been manufactured by a statement from the leader of the council which, in terms of ecomonic reasoning, makes little or no sense.
The land loan against which to raise monies remains the same, whether combined or split. It costs the council nada. If they needed it themselves as an asset against which to borrow, they wouldn't lend it out at all, never mind in a combined package to the same value.
Perhapy the worst thing in all of this is the ideological implications of the council statement. As we all know, Wakefield has a Labour council. The national Labour party was committed to a policy of spending its way out of the recession (wherever this was reasonable). The twin stadium project offers the Labour council a perfect means to do this - two stadia, both privately funded, with community facilities, providing new jobs... If I were a Labour councillor, I'd think all my Christmases had come at once. But what's the end result? They try and knock it on the head. They don't even have the courage of their own convictions. You couldn't make it up, you really couldn't.
I just hope they now get their collective acts together and deliver both stadia within a reasonable time frame by pushing through the respective planning applications without further dithering, and give this area what the people and the clubs deserve. We should have 2 first class stadia - we have 2 first class clubs in a first class sport, and we should be proud of that!

| I'm coming in to the conversation late here but I thought the announcement was a good thing. We always moan that they don't tell us anything.
Well I took the message as positive. They are doing what all our votes have said and stuck to the best option for Trinity. Why should we wait for someone else to tell us where to play.
If we thought our plan was a good one before the Box statement it should still be a good one now.
Effectively we have called Cas bluff to see what they will do now.
No one said it was share or no land (did they?), just that there will only be one stadium.
Above all else, Rodney Walker does not back losers and has done all this before. I'm more confident given the message was from him and as the council are quoted as agreeing with us it seems all is good, it at least positive.
Plenty of time for things to change but right now it seems the board are doing what the majority of fans want and I'm happy with that.

| Well one consolation has come out of the expected pasting by the Saints, but its a big one. Any chance of knowing when the green light is going to be switched for work to start at Newmarket? As after all, since day 1 in 2005, the message us Wakefield fans have been trying to get through to the council is that we did not need the money as the first priority, all along the most two important things were a site and permission.
Fingers crossed for any future developments.

Yes.
Plans were revised with regard to the report from the HA. The impression I got from Phil the last time we chatted was that revisions had been made and were ready to go.
It has also been mentioned (and was confirmed by feline earlier this week) that the full application is also ready for submission and will be lodged as soon as we gain the nod in September.
As soon as we get the go ahead I would expect a site office to be erected immediately and ground works could commence within weeks.

Good evening.Even though richardson is bankrupt its walker and yorkcourt that are the driving force behind the stadium. At least richardson has made a statement on walkers behalf,mr wright hasn't said anything and he met with the council on wednesday(probably same meeting walker and co were at)
