Exactly, the people whose job it is to represent the people of Wakefield haven't done their job properly.

Yes that can be established as true.
We must then ask, is it a fact of incompetence or a deliberate act ?

I wouldn't disagree with any of that.

| Quote ="Slugger McBatt"I'm guessing the difference is that Lateral are willing to fund the ground and comply with their perceived planning obligations, whereas Yorkcourt are seeking to do exactly the opposite.
My original points still stands, that nothing extra has been done for Cas. The council support the development and have granted planning. What has been done has put both clubs in the same position. The difference with Wakey is that there is a lack of enthusiasm to force Yorkcourt to do what Lateral appear to be doing for Cas.'"
Precisely, although I would also add that WMDC learnt from their mistakes with Newmarket by making it a condition that the stadium had to be built before any of the retail could open. That, and also that it wasn't a condition a proportion of the development was built first. However, I suspect that is more down to the funding - Lateral don't need to build to fund, whereas YC did?

| Quote ="TRB"My suggestion to you would be not to try and involve yourself in Wakefields stadium. Your belief that a developer just turns up and gives a RL club a stadium without the councils involvement is quite frankly astounding! This deal has been brokered by WMDC, no doubt, although they will deny it to the hilt and there will be no minutes of any meetings that took place.
Through this process I have learned much about the workings of council, and I don't care for it tbh, but that may be as a result of the double standards on show, both in relation towards our stadium and the developer - for whom they have more care for than us - and in relation to the differences between our situation and that of Cas.
I genuinely wish to seethe Cas venture come to fruition, but I strongly lament the failure to turn a genuine opportunity for a Community Stadium, and all that that could have been, into reality for the people of Wakefield and it's surrounds.'"
I don't believe it just materialised. Clearly the caveat for the development, and indeed the special circumstances for building on greenbelt, was that the stadium was built and part of the package, along with all the other incentives that Lateral have fronted up (i.e. contributions to town centre such as keeping M&S open, funding transport links and new road infrastructure).
If you want to be precise, I meant the council were contributing nothing financial towards Cas's new stadium.

Learnt from their mistakes? Is that what it's called, that's why a community stadium for the City of Wakefield is treated so differently than a stadium owned by a club the council leader supports. All we are asking for is the same political will.

| In fairness, I think Fully just about gets it as regards what is going on here. He is unlike many who seem to genuinely believe that the Stadium Fairy just turned up and left a pressie under their pillows one night. Wigan & Warrington managed to get their stadia built via 106 agreements and Cas will too, but it's all too convenient to find that ours is the one that somehow didn't tick all the right boxes to turn the plans into reality.
We keep all options open. Manni is willing to listen and is involved already by ownership of BV. His involvement may prove to be the turning point in this process as he is not a man to sit idly around waiting for others.

Well it isn't - everything I've quoted re: Cas's stadium plans can be found on the WMDC Planning Portal. There's nothing 'speculative' about it. It's all there in writing and in the agreements.
As for Wakefield's, the only thing I've commented on was whether a similar method of funding was possible, which I dropped after TRB's message.

I hope the rest of the Stone Roses are as involved as Manni is.

| Manni is the chairman of 88m group, which is the company that has bought the ground.
Looking on their website, they are a company that are involved in several projects, that go beyond property.
He is also looking to get involved in Aviation and Shipping, which having worked in these industries overseas, which potentially, in money making terms, could be massive.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but why would naming the stadium! 88m stadium make sence? Company's pay a lot of money for that privilage! I thought they are our new landlords and we pay them.

Yes it would have been like Belle Vue being called Bank of Ireland stadium when they took ownership. Like you say the naming rights is about money into the Club and the only way 88m would get their name on the stadium is if they entered the raffle and won, or offered a good deal before that.
