| It's pretty nailed on for Woods with that photo silhouette
Chester has just done an interview saying he has another two coming through negotiations and would still like to get a big name from NRL.

Surely given the big hoo hah about Hampshire, his signing was the driver for season tickets. We should have the whole of Normanton on board now.
By the way, I have never written hoo hah down before. I don't think I will do it again.

Do you really think ‘big’ signings sell season tickets? I don’t and I’ve never seen any evidence that they do. Out of interest when was this big signing that sold a single extra ticket, I honestly can’t think of one certainly since 2004 when I started watching.

| Welcome Josh, let’s hope you join the impressive list of players who have rebuilt there careers at this great club. Always like a player willing to drive over the M62 for a game.

| Not a player I am familiar with, but based on the highlights he seems decent enough. Can certainly put a tackle in.

Who exactly are you suggesting we sign? If nothing else if the club dont have the cash they aren't going to speculate on phantom stayaway support to fund any signing.

| Josh is a sound signing for you. He's got bags of natural talent and can defend. He's been down the pecking order at Salford as he's had Hastings, Lui, Lolohea, Tomkins, and Lussick ahead of him in the positions he plays. Moving on was always going to be the best option for him, especially as Brown and Atkin have come into the squad for next season. This isn't a slight on Wood, just unfortunate that we have a number of players ahead of him as he's still a young lad. It wouldn't make any sense for him to sit in the reserves, and I wish him luck.
He'll go well for you, I have no doubt as he's got bags of talent and he'll be hungry to impress.

I think we will have to settle for good players making the team better so they win more and attract a crowd
You are talking Wally Lewis or Jonathan Davies level signing to put numbers on the crowd.

But it doesn’t work like that never has, sorry mate but there is no truth in what you say.
For a start what on earth do you mean by ‘better players’, give us some names?
Who are these people who will cough up £300 pounds for a season ticket because we sign a player with a reputation. Answer none. The only thing that will tempt new fans is a winning team and I’m afraid that doesn’t necessarily come from big name signings, quite the opposite a lot of the time.
It’s just a fantasy I’m afraid, hard work and commitment is what will take us forward not names.
Just out of interest isn’t Westerman a big enough name?

When he's injury free he always gives 100% But he's had three Big operations on his shoulder, Which for a 23 Year Old is a lot of Damage.

| In response to Fishermanscrap on selling season tickets, they do keep the club in the news and get them talked about, good for the club and the sponsors.
I'm sure a few fence-sitters may well be stirred enough to invest in a season ticket encouraged by the recruitment activity.
We should all seek the positives, too many fans of the Desponds on here doom and gloom in all they hear and read about

I think it does at certain clubs but for some reason not at Wakefield. You do get a lot of fence-sitters as you put it at some clubs, Leeds is a great example but I've not come across many in Wakefield. Maybe a Wally Lewis type signing might do it but then we'd have to let half the team we already have go, he gets injured we get relegated and any increase in ticket sales is lost. I might have had an effect after say the 2017 season which ended with us in really good form so there is also an element of timing.
In conclusion, any increase in sales imho would be a very short term gain and an expensive error. The trick for me is signing them before they are stars which we do quite well, keeping them used to be he issue. Now we do keep them it just needs time and a bit of luck for that to pay off. Also, we do have a stadium to fund and I have no idea how that will be done.

| Big names, and big salaries certainly dont always work out.
What happens if that player on the big salary, spends a while on the sidelines.
Something too has always intrigued me, is if you've say got some players on a certain salary, and you bring in a name who's say, on double that, what is the attitude like in a camp with those on the lower salary, and especially if that player under performs.
I read a piece in Rugby League world I while back, about a championship, or league 1 club, and every player was on identical contracts, to avoid any of that tension.
Going back to new signings, one ones that puts bums on seats, Chester has already said about a top quality NRL player. Were in talks with one, with another quota spot fee too, could either of those be one of them players.
Holding judgement until all recruitment complete

Guess it depends on how the star player conducts themselves. I imagine Hastings will be have on a greater wage than his colleagues, but I doubt any of them would begrudge that.

| I'd also say if Tom Johnstone and David Fifita don't put bums on seats there aren't many others that will.

I agree, doesn't do a lot to build team spirit.
An NRL player of some renown would be good, but not at any price and I'm sure the club wouldn't go to that anyway.
I'm quite happy with the way the team building is going already.
