| Have been told Kear is working to rule at the moment due to Glover not wanting to talk about a contract renewal. I can't fault either though. Glover can't go paying out Kear a Superleague salary if we are not going to be in Superleague. However i can't really blame Kear as he has done some hard work at the club and is looking after his future.

I would expect Glover to be telling Kear there is no contract next season whichever league we are in - its time for a change. I would then expect Kear to concentrate on doing the best he can for the remainder of the season whilst his agent sorts him out with another job.
Seems to me there is a change in the attitude of the team the last few weeks and the effort we have applauded previously even in defeat is lacking somewhat (as a team - certain individuals are still putting 100% in). If there is a problem between Kear and the players then it needs to be addressed asap.

If this is the case, i would be gently reminding him, that he was quite happy to terminate the contract he currently has to go to the south of france.

| Kear is very, very good at PR, especially for himself. At that Supporters Trust meeting, he could have gone in on the back of 5 100+ defeats and would have won some over with his speech about heart, and doing it for the club. Only problem is, the advert talks about courage and skill, but we're only seeing one of those two vital ingredients.

| Which SL club(s) would really come in for Kear? Realistically, I can only see the two pretend teams having any interest. Les Cats must be breathing a massive sigh of relief - there's no way they'd be looking like genuine top 4 material if JK had gone there when the offer was made.
Personally, I hope he goes to Cas next season - it'll be interesting (and amusing) to see how their 'Classy Cas' expectations are met by his 5 drives and a kick mentality. They'll probably beat us once per season though in 'their Cup Final.'

You don't need to be a member of MENSA to work that one out do you?
Bigger club, more money to spend on players, more chance of winning stuff(mickey mouse cup),larger crowds probably and the big one for Powell personally,a larger wage packet.

| I think some of us are being a bit arrogant ... why would Powell leave a job (he seems happy in) to come to Wakefield with our limited resources at the moment and potentially only a job in SL for a few months?

I meant if we go down and its not being arrogant but realistic. The club is now being run pretty well and in the Championship we would be one of the bigger clubs and surely would be a better prospect for most coaches plying their trade in the lower divisions.

Fair enough. I don't think it would be enough for Powell to come to us to be fair, Fev are one of the bigger clubs in the NL's anyway.

Bigger budget, bigger crowds, SL for the last 14 years, better squad to work with?
Don't get me wrong I like Fev, but we just have more clout.

Not according to Daryll, he sees Rovers as a club with massive potential. Off field infrastructure bang on and a 'new' SL compliant ground imminent.
From an outsider's perspective I think John Kear has worked miracles at Belle Vue and you should stick with him through the present tough times. Once you are granted your licence, which is a certainty in my opinion, he will have the resources to build and guide your team to much better things. He's a top coach.

Maybe he's right, I just think that Fev will struggle to increase their crowds in the long term simply because they are sandwiched between Wakey and Cas, I mean how many people even live in Featherstone?
Hopefully they prove me wrong, but can't see it sadly.

Good. Then I wouldn't want him. We need realists, not dreamers. As things currently stand, there will be no Fev in SL. Why have Fev when you can have Cas? Why have Cas when you can have Wakey? Why have Wakey when you can have Leeds and London? etc..

| The best hope for Fev is to merge with us when we go to NM; Cas will be vying for our attentions by then mind you, so they'll need to look lively.

| Financially the club is back on its feet but that said the playing side is in a right mess !!! Firstly we have contract issues ... The players dont know which league where gonna be playing in yet and are possibly trying to secure there own futures else where - Kear included - hes out of contract and must be looking past the end of the season - the pressure is telling and showing from both the players and coaching staff ... An other issues we have is that our senior players are not leading by example which is not bringing the young players forward ... I think we have hit the wall too - we have had so many bad performances lately and looking at the fixtures will probably win 1 more game ...
So is it time for Kear to go ?? Very tough call ... We need a change but we prorbably have to see the season out ...
