I hope your right, I really do. I love a good prop forward, especially one that is in the mold that Poore should be - big , rough and tough. I agree that he must have something to get selected for SoO - but this alone doesn't mean he will necessarily do a job for us, as I offered Josh Perry up as an example earlier its not always that simple. I am a realist and appreciate that in an ideal world that we would keep Poore and give him plenty of time to bed in because he could be exceptional for us.


On the other hand, we are in dire straights cash wise and there is a very real possibility that some more of the family silver may have to be flogged off shortly - and if this is the case then Poore would be the one I was looking at before Kirmond, Aiton and also Collis. Poore is reported to be on a decent wedge, and I don't believe he justifies it if true - and given the fact we could potentially replace him with somebody of the caliber of Lovegrove on what would presumably be a cheaper contract then that would be fine with me.

Having said that if RL is on his way out of Rovers would suggest if true we would be pretty daft to accept him as a make weight.

In a season where points are likely to be at a premium losing our best goalkicker would be a blow.

It would, Sykes is more than competant though.

Lovegrove is not a genuine prop IMHO not big enough so could not replace Poore. I do rate him though when he's played against us and think if we got him cheap he'd be a good utility forward being able to cover a number of positions which is needed with a small squad. He covered in the centre against us last season and scored a good try carrying a couple of our players over the line.

Richard Moore back would be a mistake even on loan but think its inevitable that we're going to lose Poore which is why there is focus on World Cup Squad players being looked at by WTW. I'm confused as others are that championship clubs can seem to outbid us for our own home grown talent like Danny Cowling?

Sykes is just as good as Lee Smith at goal kicking and Wildie isn't bad either if we sign him. Remember we still have Mellars (!) on the books who can cover Cockayne's wing or Smith's centre as we're losing both of them probably...

It'd be great to have finances to purchase players but I'm a realist big contract players such as Poore need to be sold on to get two or three players in on return.

Couldn't agree more. Elston signed him before Agar arrived. Club can't afford to buy out his contract, I'd love to know what £££ he's on. He has pace for a big bloke but seems to go missing and doesn't bust enough tackles, defensively is also suspect.... Only joking he'd be a great addition to the Salford squad!

Think it's been shown we are a better team with Sykes in it. Use one of the youngsters with him and we'll be ok. Not spectacular but ok. 12th for us next season.
