| For me its about the desire and approach they bring.
What people seek when they mention John Kear is the attitude he came with - he KNEW that if he got hold of that squad that he could keep us up. He didn't think so, or believe so, he KNEW.
We are still in SL and the odds are even that we can stay up there - what better way for someone to prove that they can cut it at the top level.
Be it JD/Ned/Andy/Glen whoever, its all about coming in with that positivity and commanding that amongst the players we have.
Tough job - eminently do-able!

| Given the position the club is in it needs someone with a proven track record with recent top flight experience and a handle on the modern game to get us out of this. Which is where in my opinion John Kear stands head and Shoulders above any other candidate right now, he has exactly what it takes to get this group of talented underperformers playing like they can. Personally I feel Neil Kelly has been out of top flight RL coaching too long, the game has moved on since he was sacked by Widnes in 2004, eleven years is a long time between superleague drinks and I think it is 6 years since he left his last RL job at leigh? To have him jump into a club in our our position would be a very big risk, it might pay off but it could also backfire badly. All about opinions though.

Not a Radford fan, but just I think he is on his way out,, he seems to turn it around, certainly happy with the way things are going at the moment, although still doubts about him long term.
I don't think Mcnarmara would that bad, he will have improved a lot from his days at Bradford and is learning his trade at a great club with a great coach.

I remember JK being interviewed after a Sky game shortly after he'd taken over. He turned to the camera with a beaming smile and personally told Stevo what his expected win rate/percentage was to keep us up. There was absolutely no reason to not believe in him. That's the kind of coach we are crying out for again, not one who talks the game down a week in advance then searches for the positives in a 50 point drubbing. JK might not be the man to do it again but I'd believe he could if he did come back.

You are very, very welcome to him, should the need arise but, please don't foist him on Wakefield, we really have enough to cope with.

| Available and at what cost
There are a few on the list that I would not be bothered about.
Of those who could do a job some might not want a high pressure with low budget, high expectations job for 11 months.

| As i've put elsewhere short term Kear with him then becoming director of rugby to be replaced as coach by Morrison would be my ideal.

In this ideal situation presumably Kear would be working for the love of the club and very little financial incentive when he went upstairs, but surely if Morrison can't do the job on his own without kear's help why would the club want him in the first place, wouldn't it be simpler to just get a coach that can do the job instead.

My reasoning is the short term impact that this team desperately needs is something that Kear has proven he can provide, he also has bags of top level coaching experience something Morrison cannot yet boast. He is also a pretty savvy operator off the field and could advise Carter on the rugby side of things, player worth etc, something he admits he knows nothing about. Morrison for me is then the man to take over when the ship is steadied, being one of the best up and coming coaches around and being able to implement pathways from academy to first team and get a backroom staff around him which is fully in tune with modern day techniques. Yes more expensive but maybe just more beneficial as well. Morrison was Kears captain the last time they were here so they have history. But as i said its my ideal scenario, not one i expect to happen.

Can't fault your logic or your reasoning, just questioning the financial implications bearing in mind the clubs finances.

| Would love it if JD came back. He has done well with Northern Pride though he now has a coaching role at North Queensland so I doubt he is ready to move. In that case Glen Morrison would do, but will he even apply ?

Undoubtably thats the rather large fly in the ointment but i see it not as a cost but as an investment. There is no doubt that this appointment has to be got right or the implications for the club don't bear thinking about.

| Not been mentioned yet I think, but wouldn't surprise me if Brian Noble was drafted in short term, not sure if it would be a good move for the club though.

Although career-wise it would make sense for him, he is clearly a man who puts family first, and although I don't know the guy, I doubt he would uproot his children again after settling them in Australia after all the UK years. Also, having settled in Northern Queensland, can you see him saying yes to the question, "how do you fancy living in Wakefield again?" I imagine one glance out of his window at the blue sky and twinkling blue waters would answer that question.
