First post on the forum and also first day I've been able to attend the PI today, I've been following this thread and others not only on this site and also Mr Glover on twitter, have to say I was very impressed with the speakers today, I thought they sold the positive view of the development well, couldn't believe the "One Man Methley Residents Army" I would have thought that if the local residents were so avidly apposed to the development then they might had turned up in numbers (maybe they did turn out in full if you know what I mean

)
I do like to study people and their body language and have to say the the chairs appearance when anyone was speaking in favour of the development was very open and he was taking it all in, when Mr objector stood up it was a very different case, I do believe that common sense is going to prevail here I would be amazed if the outcome is anything other than a yeah!! to the development and if not then I think I will be running the length of belle view much the same as Gary Schofields promised should we finish top 8

I think I'm right in saying this week has gone better than we expected and what was most pleasing for me was the way WMDC are backing the project not being bullied by lcc and determined to see newmarket happen.

With all due respect, they'd look extremely stupid opposing it after passing the scheme....

With all due respect I never though they would oppose the scheme, but the professional way the WMDC have gone about proceedings at the PI has impressed me. They really want this project to happen and who can blame them these opportunitys dont come around that often

Having been thoroughly entertained on Thursday by LCCs pathetic objections, I think I'll wander down to the PI again on Tuesday afternoon and see what the NIMBYS can come up with

On a serious note, I am in awe of those people who have put so much of their own time into this, for the benefit of us all. There ought to be a plaque or something if it ever gets built.

After last December, I'm making no assumptions.

I attended the PI on Friday morning and listened to what everybody had to say about the benefits of the Newmarket development. But one thing that nobody did mention was what would happen to the Belle vue site. Now i dont know what will happen with the old site if we are succesful in moving but Im sure there would be some kind of housing development / retail down there . It doesnt take a genius to work out that the Agbrigg area of Wakefield is one of the most deprieved areas there is .
So to put it another way both the Newmarket stadium and the regeneration of Agbrigg would be a major improvement of the City of Wakefield

It hasn't been missed. The fact that Belle Vue would be developed for new housing was mentioned in evidence at the start of the inquiry.

As I understand the main thrust of the objectors, it isn't that we shouldn't vacate Belle Vue, just that we should or could relocate somewhere else (which was the gist of the RW letter).

I think we could possibly make more of the point that Newmarket could be developed into something less desirable than a sympathetically designed distribution centre and sports facility.
