I've just given it, if you don't like my opinion don't read it, your modes of transport are exactly what I don't wanna do.
I've always been one taxi ride or bus from BV, even walked it a few times, don't fancy two buses and a train to get to a game in pi$$ing rain taking probably a minimum of 50 mins from leaving home to get to a game.

| I'll certainly have to be very selective about which games I go to. Public transport/car may suit some, but I live in comfortable walking distance of Belle Vue and that's always been a major factor in why i follow Trinity
That said, i do support Carter in the decision to move the club, Belle Vue is a dump and we've been led down the garden path over a new stadium which the amazing work of the trust is trying to secure for the city

| i cant't see why people wouldn't go to Dewsbury to watch us.
Sure we had a plot we were looking at moving to at the side of the M1 near Queens Drive not too many years ago. This site is about 2 miles away from the Dewsbury ground

Out of interest who owns Dewsbury ground is it Kirklees council or does Dewsbury own it themself, Would it be possible to buy half share in the ground with Dewsbury and what would the figures be to do this.'"
I'm not seeing why Dewsbury would want to sell us half of their only real asset to us in return for an upgrade that they don't need? They may as well just take the rent.
Out of interest where is the money coming from for the upgrades needed to get Dewsbury up to standard? As whilst costing less than Belle Vue it still isn't going to be cheap by any means.

Exactly how I see it, if i'm strapped for time, the weather is sh$te or money is tight then with all the will in the world I'll give it a miss, just looked and I can't see trains from Wakefield into Dewsbury, according to train line we'd have to go, Normy to Leeds by train, Leeds to Dewsbury then a bus from Dewsbury train station to the ground.
But.......Without the will and finance Dewsbury is a much better option than no Trinity.
Featherstone would be my favourite but that isn't "being forced out of the city" which I'm assuming is the leverage MC is using on the powers that be.

| I'd be happy with Dewsbury but it's the same distance from my house as BV pretty much so horses for courses.

Which is great, but we go from 4mls to 14mls, there are a lot of Trin fans in Normy, we have in the past put on three or four 52 seater buses on for away games and that's without people making their own way.
But I must reiterate, I think it's probably in the best interests of the club to move, it just makes it more difficult for a number of us.

| The same argument would apply to Newmarket as regards travel for many.So I assume there are those who want a ground to suit their own convenience would not go there either .

We have to make the best of a bad situation and look after the long term future of the club and Dewsbury looks the best option, it's further for the Normy lot but closest ground to Wakefield for most Trin fans. I'm sure the club will put buses on from Wakefield City centre and even from Normy. If we keep fighting I still believe we will get our community stadium in Wakefield.

| If someone could pick me up from Hartlepool it'd be great!
I'm sure if/when we do move there will be extra transport to the respective ground on match days.

| Dewsbury is easy for me to get their but the crux is if I wanted to support a team playing home games out of Dewsbury there already is a team I could follow. Temporarily I have no issue, permanently I would probably find myself drifting away (if the club lasted that long). I think the number of UK sports team who have prospered after leaving their home town are relatively few and far between. Talk of 4th and 5th finishes are bizarre. MC will have to budget for a 50% reduction in ST take up, anything above would be a bonus. Should that transpire a 50% reduction in take up wiuld hammer the club.

Unless we build a sporting village/stadium somewhere central like Thornes Park - Now if only someone had thought of that as an option!!!

| Wherever you move to, there will be winners and losers. The only issue for me is that it isn't in Wakefield and in fact is in another town where there is already a team, and whose ground it is.
As groundshares go, however, it is one I could probably cope with. It might be possible to attract more corporate sponsorship, and thus more money, as the corporate facilities are reportedly better and we would be the team hosting top flight rugby.
The risk would be if we went down and were playing at the same level. If we went down and stayed at Belle Vue, I suspect it would be even worse.
Dewsbury is probably the best of all the options currently on the table.

| It's a bloody shame that BV will not be an option but it's not the end of the world.
Let's hope that Dewsbury will provide Trinity with a reasonable home.
You never know maybe WM dc will decide to build a long awaited sports village at the Pugneys and benefit from visitors from all over the Yorkshire region.
From a personal point of view it's honestly think Wakefield would benefit from such a development and so would the council.

| My son, a member of the local and national Labour Party has just texted me to say that Trinity were apparently mentioned at the labour party meeting today and clarified a few things regarding Newmarket and how poor Clr Box gets the bame and that supporters expected to be bank rolled by WMDC. they were told that this was not general concensus of opinioln amongst supporters whose gripe is how the club was used to gain PP for site. Apparently later it was stated that it isn't the Councils place to invest in Trinity as a private concern.
Isn't this the same council that invested in The Ridings, Trinity Walk and Wakefield Europort - all private concerns?
Sorry if the above seems sketchy, but that's how I received it by text.

Most of that is about right but, it's not the investment (or lack of it) from WMDC that is the issue.
It's the lack of political will from WMDC to make the development happen and the granting of planning permission for Newcold, outside of the original site, hat is the issue.
Did he say whether anyone thought that WMDC may have hindered the development ?

They won't fight against wakefield council, they need to support councils and areas such as wakefield to try and restrengthen their position in the labour heartlands

| This is why the club/trust should put the truth out in the public domain surely. There can't be a one sided propaganda story put out all the time....the fact we are being discussed in such a negative false way needs addressing ....
