Contact the club or I'll happily do it for you. I think the TV is run externally but I'm sure if MC knows he'll sort it.

| Quote ="Slugger McBatt"It would be beyond frustrating for MC if this folds the club, after all he has done to stabilise it.
Boris is stuttering and piffling about being over the worse within 12 weeks. If that's the case, scrapping the Challenge Cup and a top-two into a Grand Final that takes place in late November might be the way. It will allow all clubs to complete their home fixtures.
At least we have someone at the helm who will give us the best chance of steering us through it. Hold tight.'"
I'm no Boris fan but with the best will in the world, the bloke has a lot on his plate. People are expecting instant answers to every question and there simply aren't any. In fact, I'd be more worried if Boris wasn't stuttering because then we'd know for certain it was pure bull.
Let's not panic here, no serious un-rectifiable damage has yet been done o the economy. Everything is out of whack but with the obvious exceptions of say Holiday companies and retail catering etc all will eventually come back into line, if as I say we see a China type scenario. Not saying there won't be short term casualties but it's not in the banks or almost anyone's interest other than say the most parasitical of investors to not do everything to keep most businesses afloat,
Of course, all that could alter if we don't play our part and support the nation and do as we are told as happened in China. Easier in China where they generally have to do as told but there you are.

| I don't agree at all with the Govt's initial response being loans to business - without including direct help for individuals - but if I were MC, I'd be looking at applying for the grants and loans now, and worry about the repayments later, when we come out the other side. That could be something that supporters could help with then - rather than expecting people to help now, whilst they're worrying about their own business, jobs, families and health.
Kicking the can down the road I know - but that was always the intention of the "350 billion package" in the first place.

This isn't aimed at MC or at Trinity but, for me, if my business becomes insolvent, the very last thing I would want is a loan to keep me afloat.
If a business is already X million in debt, the thought of adding to that seems reckless.
The government really needs to re think its strategy on this.
If they were directly covering the wages of firms that are struggling, it would allow those companies to carry on without adding substantially to their debt and if they want to help to ensure that businesses dont fold, they have to do something along these lines.

I couldn't agree more - the whole thing was a con; packaging it up as a Ā£350 billion package was outright dishonest, when only Ā£30bn of it was direct help for employers; and it should never have been announced without also creating help for employees - either directly, or through their employers.
More to come at 17:00 today, so we'll see what that looks like.

| Yes it does. Better at the moment to keep your prejudices to yourself as it makes you look both petty and foolish.
There is no reason on gods earth why a government whatever itās hue would want to get this wrong. Come on folks wake up we are in a completely different world with no maps.
It looks a good effort to me.

| Well said. Some of the comments are embarrassing. Seriously, Corbyn and Abbott in this crisis!
I have an international transport business and the Ā£10k SBRR is an unbelievable offer. I think they are adjusting well on a daily basis and who knows, sport may eventually come into the equation.

TBF Jez was ahead of the curve on this one, he has an allotment and many many jars of jam.
Seriously I doubt it would be much different. I donāt think the politicians are in charge anymore, I think the grown ups have taken charge (see Civil Servants etc).

I know that I probably shouldn't reply to this on a "Michael Carter Speaks" thread but, you are wrong.
Yes we are officially out of the EU but, THE most important part was always the deal that was agreed - supposed to be complete by the end of the year but, with the Coronavirus now engulfing the world, everyone has more important things to worry about.
As for MC, as usual, he speaks so well and his output is always well informed and balanced.
The club is very lucky that he took the reins and is still so heavily involved with the club

| Not been on here for the past few days but what a refreshing change to see that the Great British fighting spirit is finally coming to the surface and folk on here are becoming more tolerant of each other. This is a totally un-precedented peace-time crisis and regardless of people's political persuasions, we have to come together (not literally obviously !!) to get us ALL through this crisis and get back to normality as soon as possible, so let's all try to remain positive and up-beat whilst the world is on it's knees.....So to put a rugby perspective on it, no lying on in the tackle and trying to gain an unfair advantage (panic buying, hoarding etc), let's all play fairly and support our fellow team-mates, so that when this is all over we can be proud of what we did.....lets play nicely people

No I'm not wrong mate, labour lost the election and we are out of the EU, personally I don't give a toss on either matter, my reply was to bren2k on his opportunism at taking every opportunity to bring politics into it, perhaps your criticism might be better aimed at him for going off the subject of Michael carter, incidentally i see that you were unable to resist a comment on the subject of brexit on a Michael carter thread

Easy - increase SSP and avoid throwing self-employed people to the wolves; and send Dominic 'Herd Immunity' Cummings into enforced self-isolation with immediate effect.
And please stop with the sanctimonious party political bull$hit - this is nothing to do with which party is in charge.

| Wonder what Michael Carter makes of all this political wrangling on here, surely it's far more interesting to bring politics into the conversation allowing a wider variation as to why the club might be in financial trouble through this silly old virus.
