| Quote ="Inflatable_Armadillo"It is not very often I agree with Whinging Warsi but it was a very irresponsible thing to say.
So is Leeds City Council's leader now seriously still going to lobby central Government to hold a public inquiry on Newmarket that will cost hundred of thousands (if not into the millions) to hold and potentially turn down the opportunity of thousands of long term private sector jobs, hundreds of construction jobs as well as the resultant community sporting facilities on the border of the two cities? He surely can no longer be that hypocritical after this outburst... can he?
While the spending review is hard news on many hard working people and the country as a whole, I also think it is very good news for the future of the Newmarket development. I really can not see the Government office calling this in the 28 days following tomorrows meeting. It is just not worth turning down the opportunity of private sector employment when public sector jobs are going to be so hard hit. The Coalition have said that they need and want the private sector to take up the slack, coupled with the investment of Wakefield College to increase practical further eduction and therefore needed skilled workers in the hospitality, leisure and sporting sectors.
This has to be a no-brainer now surely, appease a small number of relatively affluent NIMBY's in Methley and Rothwell or create employment and training opportunities in the region many people who need them. Wakefield MDC, Leeds City Council and Central Government would be plain stupid to turn down such an opportunity in this climate!
I am sure that Wakefield MDC and Central Government will make the right and only choice and let Yorkcourt get on with this much needed regional investment.'"
That was the tack I used when supporting the whole development.
In an age of unprecedented job losses etc, you would think both Local & National Government would support the whole application.
Also won’t the WMDC receive cash via Business rates created by the damn thing?
B.T.W. What’s happened to the Council planning officials?
I’ve read the H.A’s objections, however, not seen / missed their recommendations?

None of us think the club will get that lot built.
The club will be tenants of the Community stadium - we're not building anything.
You really want to think before you start posting next time.

The planning officers report to the committee is here - [urlhttp://mg.wakefield.gov.uk/mgConvert2PDF.aspx?ID=10216&T=10&J=3[/url
It is fairly neutral to be honest but also it is not filled with anything we did not expect to see. They have stopped short of making an actual suggested recommendation but it leans towards one! We could have hoped for something slightly better but I think this is a balanced view as you will get.

| My default position is usually to disagree with whatever Ms Warsi says, but she's got this one right; the ironically named Mr Wakefields' outburst was irresponsible and stupid. It almost reads like to a call to arms!
As has been pointed out though, a major weakness in the Govt's justification for swingeing cuts in the public sector is that the private sector will take up the slack; it would be pure madness therefore, for them to call in this application.
On that basis, if we get a minded to approve tomorrow, I'd be strongly inclined to believe the development will go ahead.

| Around 2225 BBC1 at the tag end of the National news. Apparently the headline story is that TRB pulls Tanya after making proposals (according to his post).

| I saw the 68 cup inal on TV... in the same year I saw my first game against Huddersfield... in 73 I saw the cup quater final against HKR at Belle Vue.. it was SO FULL!!!... my first game as a regular fan was against Keighley (when I first saw my future coach and mentor Dave Garbutt play for the first time)... from that moment I was was hooked on Trinity...
I watched the beautiful east stand demolished.. the south bank and covered stand raised to the ground... I watched the november gales rip the roof off of the west stand and head coach Derek Turner get up there and fix it!... the old score board and tea hut at the north end dissapeared.... I watched the terrace decay and rot, be replaced and rot again... the east stand was replaced by hospitality boxes... a pub with subterranean dressing rooms appeared at one corner of the ground... the old school demolished... a new hospitality suite appeared, was threatened but stayed....
Games against GB select, Australia and New Zealand... new floodlights, new pitch...
on the pitch I saw Neil Fox, David Topliss, Mick Morgan, David Smith, Owen Stephens, Les Tonks, George Ballantyne, Les Sheard, Paul O'Brien, Geoff Gerard, Trevor Skerrett, Graham Idle, the Rayne Twins, Andy Kelly, Alan Hunte, Allan Agar, Bill Ashurst, Mike Lampkowski, Keith Smith, Mark Graham, Steve Ella, Wally Lewis, Andy Mason, Darren Fritz, Geoff Bagnall, Hendy Paul, Adrian Shelford, Nick Du Toit, Phil Eden, Andy Fletcher, Mike Jackson, Gary Price, Ray Price... the list is endless of players; great, good and average... but all treasured memories.
the memories of the past 40 years bring home to me the improtance of the council meting in just a few short hours... future generations of players, families and fans deserve the chance to collect the same sort of memories.
Mindful to approve!!!
all the best from all of us in Australia, my new buddies at the Cronulla Sharks and the Como-Janalli Crocodiles.

| Quote ="TRB"You've missed a lot out there!
We are hoping for a 'mindful to approve' decision. That's NOT an approval - at this time, as WMDC do not have the power to give that without the government giving them it - due to the Greenbelt issue. So, even in best case scenario, we will not be able to start digging on Monday. There is a time limit on this, just as there is if a legal challenge is raised, so we wouldn't have to wait too long - unless the government says it needs an enquiry.
We NEED that 'Mindful' outcome!
'"
Aslong as its good news im not happy with a no decision . Its long overdue TRB the city of wakey is more important than a bit of crap they call greenbelt and a few residents which will affect them walking the dog ! Council need some balls and give it the golden stamp. I have just recieved this off jacqui williams not giving much away !
As a member of the Planning and Highways Committee I regret I am unable to comment either in favour or against any application which is to be considered by the committee.
If I did then I would be classed as pre judging the application and would have to leave the meeting and take no part in the discussion or decision.
I can assure you that at the meeting I will fully consider all points raised both for and against the application before making any decision.
Yours
Jacqui Williams Cllr
Stanley & Outwood East Ward 15

| Well it is with much regret that I have to tell you that unfortunately I can not be with you all tomorrow as I am in London Village at the moment for a meeting first thing in the morning. I have had a chat with TRB earlier this evening and he is ready if a little apprehensive about the whole thing, as you might imagine!
I think that the 22nd October will become a significant day in the clubs history and even as a Rhino, I am sorry I won't be there to share in it with you all. I am sure the planning committee will make the right decision.
I might be able to join some of you when I arrive back at Westgate for what I hope will be a celebratory beer but I might also not get back until quite late, I shall see how may day pans out down here.
I suspect and hope it will be a weekend of celebration but, as I said to TRB, we may well have more work to do come Monday morning and the following 26 days... he told me I had to switch off now and chill and he hoped that we would indeed have lots of work to do come Monday morning, as that would mean everything had gone well on Friday!
Keep the faith guys, I am with you in spirit!

| Well done TRB on Radio Leeds this morning. The presenters had Tory boy Alec Shelbrooks card marked and he sounded clueless when he mentioned a ground share and they both put him right and then also when asked where else the ground should go!

| Just got back - fantastic turn-out and a really well behaved show of support from fans and people attached to the club, including the players.
Good to see a few of the councillors stop on the steps on their way in to have a look at us; hopefully that will be in their minds when it comes time to vote.
Fingers crossed!

| Good job I didn't ring in sick with people taking photos to post on here!!
Sorry I couldn't be there and happy that it looks like quite a good turnout.
What was the split of for and against people like? Many NIMBYS? or mainly Wakey fans?

| It was just supporters - no NIMBY's; considering that there's only about half a dozen of them in real life, that's no surprise really.

unfortunately I only saw the TV camras arrive once alot of the crowd had dispersed so might not look too impressive on TV. I would say 300-400 at its peak at 10am.
Good to see all the CAs fans on the Cas forum www.casforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18293 are fully supportive of us (not).
