That starting 13 looks very good to me, the bench is strong and some very good back up 18-25 with probs a couple of them being regulars on the bench (smith/Kay)

Getting close to being finalised now. Probably 2/3 more and job done.

Another second row would be good with a view to 2025. I actually did like the look of Hewitt last season. He’s still only 24. If we could get him on loan or sign him I think he would be a good signing for this year and beyond.

For me I think perhaps Second Row, halfback and a utility back would pretty much finish the squad off.

Couple of players who may be worth a look like that Daniel Hill from saints who can play full back/wing etc.


I’m not sure if Kershaw is still on the cards but I’d still be happy if he signed back with us for 2024.

No need for a back row, half and prop required for me.

I'll be honest here but Hewitt never stood out for me. Most of the games he played in, more often than not, I usually failed to notice him, other than the one where he got sin-binned of course.
I know several on here rated him, but I didn't.
Think we can do better personally.

What about Harvey Livett

To be fair a lot of our new signings have been total surprises, and nothing like what we thought it would be. Who knows which player is coming in!

That’s pretty good and more depth than second row so can’t agree fully. A single injury and we are scratching in back row.

If we are really looking for squad balance though we need another prop and another second rower, another utility back who can play full back.

We have 3 halves. If you want another that suggests that you don’t think Lawford is ready? And/or you want a better quality than one of our starting halves in Gale/Lino? If there’s someone available then great.

Ultimately other than the utility back the others need to be able to add something to the 17 and be of quality to enhance it.

I wonder if Kayal Iro is still available.

Centre for Jets where Uele came from and he’s got a big strike rate for try’s.

Perhaps he could be the outside back/utility back we are searching for. Wasn’t Cas allegedly trying to get him over a few months ago too.

I thought the Cas thing was signed seal and delivered. But Google says not... would be great if we snuck right under the there noses and swopped in.

It sure would! He’s young but looks like a promising centre who can play wing. With the Uele signing coming out of the blue I’m looking forward to who’s next.

Pitts is poor at 13. He's not got the impact of a modern day middle, or the hands to play as an extra pivot.

A Westerman style 13 would be cracking. He was superb for us.

I disagree. He gets through a lot of work and I reckon he made more breaks than most last year. He just goes under the radar.
Of course I'd like a young Westerman but I don't think Pitts is poor.

Powell likes to use a prop style player early on in the game though so we'll have to see how he sets it up.

I've seen a few Fev fans on social media that think it Cozza's best position.

Bain played at 13 for Scotland in one of the games

Cozza, Pitts and/or Bain can all play 13 I suspect.

Bain may play prop though unless we can secure another solid prop signing.

Atoni got a metatarsal injury and boot on for another 3/4 weeks and then review. Hope it’s not too serious as we need him firing up front this year.

You must be watching a different Pitts to the rest of us.

Good luck to him. Needs game time to develop at this level. Something trinity can’t offer him. In terms of the trinity squad it’s not a loss. I do however wish him well and success in his progression as he’s come through the ranks.

No, it's the same Pitts but fans confuse effort with ability. Can't fault his work rate but his best days are well behind him and it showed last year.

I think it's a real shame Dagger left as a player like that would make us look stronger. A full back/stand off required. Another prop and someone who can play in second row/loose. I would like to see a lose forward who is a bit of a ball handler but these are hard to find.

Tristan Sailor has been floated about over here, he’d fit that mould.
