Huby is 17 stone and 6' 2'' (a midget)
Hirst is 17 and a half stone and 6' 3''
Pauli Pauli is 19 10 lbs and 6' 4''
That is a monster front row - can't be far short of the biggest in SL is he joins us.
Also as a project Jordan Baldwinson is a mere 15 stone but at 6' 3'' and only 23 there is plenty of room to bulk him up.
We've come a long way from the tiny pack that got so badly bossed in 2015, Scruton and co - they tried but size really does matter in the front row.'"

| I have read somewhere that Keegan Hirst is 6 foot 4 inches tall and about 18 stone....it would be great news indeed if we have also signed him on a 2 year contract. Quality prop forward.

He is. I've stood next him a couple of times when he's comes over to shake the fans hands etc, and he looked about a couple of inch taller than me and I'm 6ft3. Even before that though in a few team photo's and when you see him stood next to inparticular England, he looks the tallest guy in the side imo.
Anyway, as I mentioned when it originally got called, Pauli Pauli playing something like what he was before the injuries would be a beast in SL.

Haha..the whole pack would be a beast! I hope it comes off, the half backs would really be freed up to create!

I'd like him to sign but this one has all the makings of a never going to happen saga. It's one of those where it all seems so logical and perfect for both parties yet somehow never happens. We see this a lot, local lads who need to come home but never do. Chris Chester himself was a prime example. Hope I'm wrong.

| Would like this to happen.
Provides cover in the halves, And even in the backs if necessary.
Kicks goals too.
Seem to recall a few weeks ago a nice tribute from a Wigan fan regarding his time at Wigan and the quality he showed when he played in the halves.

| I can too, they certainly have the cash.
Their offer to Carney proved that.
Amazing what an extra 1500 or so on the average gate can do to a clubs cashflow.
They do though already have 3 halves in McGuire, Atkin and Marsh. Albeit the other two are youngsters, so it is whether they adapt to super league. Marsh played a few times for them in 2016, but looked out of his depth at that time.
I dont think Abdul's future has yet bern decided. He was only on loan.

| It would be fantastic if these two come off.
Hampshire would be a good signing for us, backing up finn with a view to becoming his natural replacement when he hangs up his boots.
Pauli pauli to boost the already strong pack, along with Horo.
We would be looking good for next season. Not sure how other teams are recruiting but very happy with the way we are going at the moment.

| Wouldn't it be great to see Hampshire settled at his home town club and finally nailing down a position, and realising his undoubted potential; I have no idea if it would work, but I'd be very happy if it did.

To be fair Chris Chester was always too good for us. Think we did have an option to sign him right at the end of his career as a player but the tables were then turned.

Simple question, if you were him with the talent he has at his possession would you go to a club just to provide back up, Wane at Wigan assured him that he and Williams would be the half back combination instead he used him as a stop gap in various positions due to injuries, Powell made him no promises at Cas but due to the form of their backs had to play anywhere to get a game.
While Hampshire was in Aus, Jukesy rang him and begged and prayed him to come and play at Leigh promising him the moon on a stick and never played him in the halves, so is it any wonder the kid gets mixed reviews, all he needs is a chance to show how good he is with a decent run of games at half back you won't be talking in terms of a decent back up then.

All fair comment. However I'd suggest he'd be more than back up. I can't see Finn doing more than one perhaps two seasons so I'd view him as a replacement.
Also if there is one player who can teach you how to resurrect your career long term by using your brain it's Finn.
Also he would arrive with a little less expectation hanging around his neck. One or two posters especially on here over-hyped him to ridiculous levels. He doesn't need people telling him how potentially good he is he just needs the chance to prove himself and find whatever his real level is. There is no better club than Trinity to do that.
It would probably do Hampshire the world of good but I just don't see it happening, not now we have promoted Ackroyd to full time and signed young Schofield.

So you think he should be demanding a starting half position in SL? Outstanding talent at junior level, i`m yet to see anything from him at senior pro level to suggest he`s anything above average at best, harsh but true.
You can say that`s down to him not getting a chance in that position but the record shows that every club he has been at he`s been seen down the pecking order.. From coaches that see him every day at training, set pieces, everything. Powell tried him and then played Mcshane and even Millington in the halves instead of Hampshire when injury struck, Wane tried him and decided he wasn't as good as the other options he had in young players, Jukes tried him and decided he wasn`t as good as the second rate Aussie they had brought in - All from coaches that see him day in day out. Or is it just because they dont like him?
Im all in favor of signing him, i think he will eventually come good, and what better place than his home town club, but to suggest that at the moment he`s too much of a talent to play back up at a SL club for me is just ridiculous - He needs to come prove all those rave reviews at this level, and so far its not been seen consistently.

| I'm sure C C said that players have contacted the club offering their services , could Hampshire be one. Its immensely important that the Trinity get the squad right and that players not only have potential or ability but also buy in to the club. I think CC MC and the team have things cock on.

| Pretty much spot on there Vasty.
I would see him as his long term successor.
Think Finn has only missed one game in 2 years with us
Potentially how much will the world cup take out of his energy levels?

Again total fair comment - he has come nowhere near the hype so far so it's a judgement call from our coaches.
There have been loads of young players touted by various sections of fans who never make it. Yet they won't accept the general consensus within the game. That hooker we had called Ellis, people on here wouldn't shut up about him and how daft we were to let him go but he did nothing and he's one of many.
Truth is only the coaches and team mates see the full picture, we fans are guessing and those guessing the most are the ones who claim to be experts where Juniors are concerned.
What people need to remember is that being a great player is not the same as being a great pro.

This unfortunately is the bit the armchair/keyboard/terrace experts will never get. Witnessing some training sessions picking my mate up from volunteering at the ground was enough to change my opinion of several players a couple of years ago. Meeting one away from the game changed my mind in a more positive way.
Some people unfortunately are complete merchant bankers and rugby players are from immune from that.

No I don't think he should be demanding a starting half back role in SL and as you well know I never implied that, what I said just in case you can't quite understand it was a question to a poster who imo just dismissed him as a back up player to cover all positions', which is maybe why he hasn't had chance to shine in the one position he excels at, but at least your in favour of signing him so at least it's a start.
