| I just feel like the club are cruising towards oblivion.
Chester isn't going to fall on his sword & his buddy is unlikely to give him the boot, as per Webster & Smith, who both walked away.
To replace the backroom staff would cost a pretty penny, hardly likely in these challenging times, so why not limp along for one more season before the old Sky deal expires, even that is around £280k less than this year!
The majority of the players will get another gig, some in S.L. some in the Championship, the owners can call time on the whole caboodle & pass the dump of a ground back to the Council as a bit of payback for their duplicity over the Newmarket fiasco.
The only people who will suffer are the fans, but to be truthful I feel like I've suffered enough, fifty years for what, one Challenge Cup final, surely that's a considerable form of self-harm?

OK no one can dispute we are in a real bad patch AGAIN.
But how pathetic is that comment? 50 years! 1970 to 2020 and all you can remember is the 1979 cup final. I can't even be bothered to list some of the fantastic moments during that period. WTF were Belly, Ray Price, Toppo, JD, Solomona, Tom Johnstone and many others busting a bloody gut for?

OK then Wollo. Tell us another Superleague side that hasn't made a Wembley appearance since us in 1979.
Yes we've seen some great players (you don't seem to mention Wally Lewis), but surely you would expect any Superleague fan to expect their side to have made at least one visit to Wembley in 41 years.
Your example is like comparing apples to oranges.
Crikey man I support Barnsley FC ( a second or third tier side) and I've seen my team at Wembley 3 times in 8 years so I don't think DA's comments are as pathetic as you make out

I don't expect anything. I hope I have a Wakefield Trinity to follow. I enjoy the good times and not the bad. Lack of a Final appearance since 1979 is sad but has no effect on my commitment to my home town club.
Wembley appearances for Football Clubs are ten a penny these days. I followed Barnsley back in the 60s/70's (Eric Winstanley days) on Saturdays when a Wembley appearance was even less likely than one for Wakey. Still enjoyed it.

I don't see why we should expect a Wembley visit.
We've come close in that time but we haven't been good enough.
But we have stayed in Super League when others haven't and we have had times that were way beyond our expectation.
I've said it elsewhere but if you are expecting silverware to be guaranteed just because others have it, you are supporting the wrong club.

I don't think any of our supporters 'expect' silverware at all. The least they expect is effort every week and an improvement year on year if possible. If Salford can get to a Grand Final and a Challenge Cup Final in successive seasons then surely to goodness we can aspire to that too? Or otherwise why bother if we're only gonna be in it to make the numbers up. They're not even challenging in the league yet have managed to reach a final again. What does 'way beyond our expectation mean'? My expectation especially after two top 5 finishes and a coach telling us he's built his best ever squad is to keep improving in the league and an assault on the Cup not spectacularly go backwards and fail to win in 25 out of 30 plus games.

| Expecting finals and trophies, no one in this day and age should expect that, that it taking things for granted, which in this day and age is wrong.
However, competing and putting your hat into the ring, and giving everything your best shot, and saying u tried, that is totally different, and as a supporter, if that’s what you did, you won’t be judged.
Unfortunately, with this bunch of players, and other staff, I humus doubts, and no supporter should be judged on that view

Yes, PT, but how many times have we avoided relegation by default.
Apart from the ten other SL clubs you could include non SL clubs Widnes, Bulls, Sheffield Eagles, Halifax, Fev & London. That's sixteen RL clubs that have appeared in a Challenge Cup final since we were last at Wembley. Not good eh??

Wasn't Salford's last Wembley visit in 1969 when they lost to Cas and 1938 they beat Barrow at Wembley, I'd say Trinity's Wembley history has a bit more substance, In the new era they are just ahead

People also seem to forget Salford also appeared in the Grand Final. I would say these days more prestigious and harder to achieve than challenge cup final.

Thats correct Tart
5 wins in how many and counting? support level down with the bottom clubs , if not at the bottom next season. Players wanting out faster than we can get them. Then top it all off with a dump of a ground which is an embarrassment to professional sport.
We certainly are the Billy Big time boys and a flag ship club for super league.

| Hanging on to Super League status for the last 20 years is all of a sudden a weapon to beat the club with.
The fact kills the fans of our rivals but now is part of our own negative fan culture because we haven't been to Wembley.

Sorry to keep repeating it but FFS look around at other once great clubs, look back at the some great games and stars we've had over the last even 20, 30, 40, 50 years. We are in another bad patch.
I go to Wembley every year regardless of the finalists and enjoy it as a Rugby weekend proudly wearing my Trinity shirt.. Love it if Wakefield were there again but it aint the end of my enjoyment.

That may well be the case. But i’m going to assume you are old enough to remember all those good old days, maybe even when we could actually get to finals and win something. It’s those moments that get you hooked for a lifetime. The memories they create are the things that get you through the bad times, the hope of one day seeing the glory days once again. It is 41 years since we made a major final. I was 2 years old and too young for it to matter. My Dad passed the passion for the club down from his first hand experience of those good times but other than the Yorkshire Cup and a second division final win (neither this century) i’ve seen them get nowhere near. I can’t pass down those memories of success directly to my kids and in any case it is a different world these days, there are many other things vying for their attention. They don’t have the same attachment as me, in fact they are pretty ambivalent about it. This generation isn’t interested in making up the numbers, it wants success. And an also-ran club in a wreck of a stadium isn’t a pulling point. Neither is the occasional relegation decider. The club needs real success if it is to prosper, something they can hang there hat on and get hooked but right now that seems a very long way away. The fear is we will soon join those once great clubs in the lower division and the club will wither on the vine.

Where have I said that's all I can remember, what a ridiculous statement!
My point is, that in the fifty years of continued support I've only seen them in one major final. If your happy just to have a club support then fair play to you, I on the other hand have always aspired to seeing a trophy lofted high with R,W & B. ribbons.
The fact is all the clubs in the surrounding area have had more trophy success than us, even Dewsbury, & yes as the omnipotent one has said, many of those clubs are now languishing in lower divisions, but as a supporter would I swap, yes, in a heartbeat!
If I'd witnessed my club wining a trophy I wouldn't care, I would dine out on it for the rest of my days, but as it is there is nothing, nada, zilch.
So, the way things are going, we will end up in the R.L. graveyard, remembering all those fantastic moments of mediocrity.

Some of you seem to forget that Rugby League existed long before the Super league existed. There are clubs that once ruled the roost, but are no longer in SL, however, Trinity have never been out of SL since gaining promotion. Just be thankful for small mercies.

Problem is DK some of us haven’t seen Trin in a final let alone win one. Unless you count the Million Pound Game. Of course I’d like to think all Trin fans are grateful that the club Is still in existence, but it doesn’t help seeing other supposedly relegation candidates do more than just survive.

| The worst thing now for me is, it's how many are we gonna lose by this week! Can we keep a team under 40 points, can we get anywhere near 20 ourselves.......not can we actually dream of winning the odd game! Surely thinking like that would be following a virtual team of no-hopers, is that what we are now???
