Can Dewsbury be brought up to standard for less than that? Or is it likely to be elsewhere?

Then like you say that's even before all the other stuff and the constant battle to get a ground safety certificate.
Just as a ball park figure to get the ground up to the minimum standard and to be safe and sustainable without the constant repairs, have you done a rough calculation'"
That is every season going forward.
North stand. 400000
Western terrace similar.
East stand? What can I say. Simply unusable as a main stand. Horrible view. Leaky roof. No corporate hospitality. To make trinity a viable business capable of spending the cap, a new east stand would be £7 million.
Oh and don't forget, you still don't own a brick of it. You can buy it from the present owner. Think he wants £7 million for that too!

Easily. If that's where we end up. They have a great facility and we would be able to train at the same base. Nothing decided yet though

| Thanks for that. I wonder if Harrogate still has a cunning plan ?
How can anyone even contemplate the sustainability of Belle Vue.
OK we may hang around there for a few more years but the place is like a cancer, eventually it will kill us off.
Cheers MC

| £7m for the East stand. I've passed Dewsbury's a number of times, never actually going in but the facilities there don't strike me anything like a £7m main stand. More like a bog standard newish stadium. I'd also imagine it would cost a decent wedge if less than BV to tart up to the standard described above so again if the club has that money I'd rather they save it and use it to purchase their own patch not spend it doing up something they don't own which is the arguement used against improving BV.
It really is a crap situation, there is no good solution short of a Euro millions win for one of the supporters.

Not second guessing you, but surely Fev would be the better option? Already train there, stadium ready to go, pitch is the right size etc?

Dewsbury main stand has 1300 seats, 8 boxes, and 2 restaurants with more facilities then we currently have for corporate. The 7 million is a replacement for the east stand. You could of course do it for cheaper but I suspect that even something akin to dewsbury would be in the region of 3 million these days. You would obviously still be short of seats though!

| Thanks for that. I suppose any move away would have to account for a loss in revenue from a reduction in season ticket take up. Selling just 500 fewer adult season tickets would cost the club in the region of £125k so the money saved in retaining central funding would be immediately swallowed up.
As an aside, how mixed up is the approach of fining clubs who are struggling to improve their ground?! Don't have the cash to improve your stadium, let's give you less.

As you mentioned in your radio Yorkshire interview last week I fully understand you not wanting to spend that amount of money on a stadium you didn't own, and at that price probably never would. But surely the same then applies to Dewsbury, even if it is with a slightly smaller outlay? It still would be a pretty penny to bring it up to standard and would realistically be throwing money away if there is any hope of moving back to Wakefield. As has been mentioned earlier wouldn't a ready to fo stadium be a better bet?

The £2,000,000 that WMDC and that nice Mr Box pledged for the community stadium would go quite a long way towards the costs

I thought along similar lines there.
Hypothetically, if we were fortunate and the fundung was there, and PP passed for it, any idea as to what BV's capacity would be at?

No emotion from me when Hilton park closed, a hole I was happy to see the back of the.
If dewsbury is to be your new home for the foreseeable future then I'd say enjoy it because moving there isn't going the threaten the future of the Wakefield trinity club

| Would like to thank Mr Carter for coming on here i think its fantastic. Totally understand the cost of Belle Vue been far too much. Dewsbury is more viable but its Dewsbury would not mind going there short term is there any other options around Wakefield. Couldn't your mate koukash help us out lol? Hate our Council with a passion. Would be gutted to leave belle vue but the time is right just i do have fear if super league will keep us in and also in wrestling terms what is a company worth without a ring ? Thanks

| FTR, I deal in Groundworks and Landscaping. I did a semi detailed inspection and assessment of the North Terrace, which would involve a complete overlay of the existing. As a minimum it getting close to the £400k mark mentioned above. If BV was ours, I think it may have warranted further investigation, but as it is not ours, nah!

| First of all Dewsbury ground is technically in Dewsbury but in all honesty it's what 200 yards out of Wakefield Boundary its nearer Ossett than Dewsbury, so this i won't go to watch trinity because it's not in wakey
Out of interest who owns Dewsbury ground is it Kirklees council or does Dewsbury own it themselves. Would it be possible to buy half share in the ground with Dewsbury and what would the figures be to do this.

| It would be relatively costly but if the club could put buses on to and from Wakefield for a nominal fee then people really wouldn't have much of an excuse not to watch at Dewsbury. Maybe for the first two seasons or so, just till people get their heads round the move.
My home games are as much a social event with my mates and acquaintances as just the game itself. We could drive but that takes the social/event side out of the equation, getting to the Dewsbury ground by public transport would be a bind.
But sponsored buses?

| So if a perfectly reasonable partnership was forged with the Dewsbury club and the ground was brought up to required standards, and Trinity then went on to have a couple of good seasons, finishing perhaps 4th and 5th some would still absent themselves ? I struggle to understand why?

I've just given it, if you don't like my opinion don't read it, your modes of transport are exactly what I don't wanna do.
I've always been one taxi ride or bus from BV, even walked it a few times, don't fancy two buses and a train to get to a game in pi$$ing rain taking probably a minimum of 50 mins from leaving home to get to a game.

| I'll certainly have to be very selective about which games I go to. Public transport/car may suit some, but I live in comfortable walking distance of Belle Vue and that's always been a major factor in why i follow Trinity
That said, i do support Carter in the decision to move the club, Belle Vue is a dump and we've been led down the garden path over a new stadium which the amazing work of the trust is trying to secure for the city

Sure we had a plot we were looking at moving to at the side of the M1 near Queens Drive not too many years ago. This site is about 2 miles away from the Dewsbury ground
