| Kear and Kelly - both people who have been royally shafted by previous regimes; times like this, you learn the lesson of not burning bridges...
Personally, I don't think that Kear is the answer any more - but if Webster is the question, he's probably enough to scrape a pass mark.

| The problem is, people keep picking names that already have a job.
That's expensive in all directions.
It would be quicker to get either an unknown from overseas that has been recommended or an old head from over here who hasn't got a job.
I could see us getting a temporary old head to advise Webster...which I don't think would be popular and is a risk but it's cheaper and would simply be judged on results.
Ellery or Reilly is fine with me. 4 week consultancy
Also gives us time to get someone else while they are here.

So ideally we needs someone at a lose end. Noble, Harrison(?) anymore notable names?

Harrison is Jimmy Lowes' assistant at Bradford. Noble is doing some part time consultancy work at London til the end of the season i think but might be interested.
Struggling with other names. Cummins has been mentioned but he has a 12 month offer from Leeds RU on the table starting shortly so that would have to be a longer offer. Cost restraints meas they'll probably have to be British based. The current championship coach of the year has today left his job.....

Jesus I didn't know that, how demeaning for Harrison to be an assistant to him.

To be fair he seems quite happy out of the limelight for now. And as things stands there is every chance that they will be a fulltime team next year and us not so we might struggle to attract him.

I don't think he would be that popular, especially after his short spell at BV as a player.

| I think JK would do a job till the end of the season but I'm not sure he's the right long term option we need.
JK performed miracles previously to keep us up and that will never be forgotten and we all will be eternally grateful.
That said, I remember thereafter some shocking rugby and performances from JKs side and I think many have selectively forgotten those dark days.
We need to think long term and with that in mind I don't believe JK is right for us.

| I think a lot on here are looking through tinted' regarding JK, he went because his brand of rugby and style of play were poor (albeit with a much lower quality squad). Also just because he saved us the last time doesn't mean history is gonna repeat itself.

Don't agree with you on that one, remember this is a club where very little has been rose tinted in our lifetimes so I think it's a fair reflection of what we remember - stop listening to Mopsey When given the players like Broughy etc we were great to watch from 2007 - 2010. Even in the year with just kids and a points deduction he still won more games than Webster.
It was boring at times but it was effective and kept us off the bottom - the skill of a great coach is getting the best from what you have - hopefully he can turn what potential this lot have into something half decent.

And they had fight too. I never came away from any of those games thinking we'd just given up even though the chances we had of winning were often zero.
I was of the thinking that replacing Kear was the right thing at the time so long as we progressed. The appointment of Agar was utterly disappointing and was something of a backward step. I think that's why many still carry a torch for Kear.

We have enough quality players, you would hope with the right motovation and togetherness they will start playing as a team and instead of a bunch of individuals who dont seem bothered! This is surely what John Kear will bring, I posted on sunday if JK wants the job give him a 18 month contract, time to save the club this year and see where we are at next year, I dont see anybody else who could do this job and turn it around in a short space of time...

I certainly think Andy Kelly or Neil Kelly would and I think they're both better long term options.

It's all opinion but I think we'd all agree that any of them would be better than what we have.
