| Quote ="charlie63wildcat"Yes. Ive been firmly in the Agar out camp but it would be churlish to be down on a day like today. I couldnt believe what I was listening to and though I wish Id had the moral fortitude to risk another afternoon of grinding frustration, the sound of the Trinity fans on Radio Humberside was incredible and lifted my spirits from the dismay of the NM fiasco and themany awful performancs of this season.'"
Exactly. It's fine by me to be in the Agar out camp but when good things happen like these wins, enjoy the present. Living in the past or worrying about the future spoils the present. We won and we won in style! Lets be happy about this and give credit to Agar and the players for this win at the very least!
I don't mind people still having worries Re Agar but if that's everyone's main thoughts after a great win it spoils people's enjoyment.
On a slightly different point on coaching and coaches. Look at Tony Smith at Warrington, Brian Noble when at Salford/Bradford and Brian McDermott at Leeds. They all have been heavily criticised and massively successful in equal measures. Being a coach is a devils job. Even winning GFs and some Leeds fans wanted McDermott out!
Lastly re coaches... From the kit man, to Physio, assistant and all staff connected to the running of the team they all need to be professional and competent in what they do. I remember a certain person from a certain team running onto the field and passing a different message to the players to what the coach instructed! Things like this undermines and hinders the whole structure.
I'm still wanting Agar to succeed. I'm also glad the players stepped up and are pleased for them. There's no doubt for whatever reasons we haven't been consistently good enough but even if its just a second half, v Hull they were good enough! Onwards and upwards hopefully.. #backthebadge

| Fair comments those Mick and difficult to disagree with any of it....
I've been as big a defender of Agar as anyone, not because I think he's the best out there, far from it....he makes errors like all coaches, just think a lot has gone against in him in his time with us and has copped a lot of unfair flack this year in particular....probably comes with the added pressure of relegation, which is understandable to an extent....I dont honestly see a better option out there to us though and have faith he will lead us to enough wins to make us safe.....backing an under pressure coach aint always a bad thing....
Salford could prove to be quite a good yardstick to compare ourselves to as we both had wholesale changes since last season....I dont think anyone could question that on paper they looked to have signed stronger than us......they also had the huge majority of their squad together for a pre-season.....we are behind them in that respect and if we would just have nicked that win over them in the opening game then look how the table would look now.....
In recent weeks they have got rid of Noble and brought in a rookie in Iestyn Harris....a truly great player and leader on the field and been around top coaches all his career.....do they look any better now tha 4-5 weeks ago under Noble? The jury has to be out on that one for me, albeit only being able to judge on match results as I haven't seen their performances as opposed to under Noble....
Us on the other hand have steadily improved week by week after a humiliation at Hull KR and then every bit as bad a thrashing at home to Leeds in the cup.....since then we were right in the game against an excellent and much improved Cas side only to lose it late on.....and improved performances away to two of the best sides in the league in Leeds & Huddersfield.....in no way being embarrassed with weakened sides and trying out new combinations....then of course our tremendous victory yesterday at Hull......
Sometimes think sticking by a man is the way to go......another recent example of this you could look to would be Denis Betts at Widnes.....at times he's come under ridiculous pressure from fans....remember them taking some absolute pastings at times last year but they stuck by their man, gave him time and look a whole lot better for it this season....

| If what happened yesterday continues to happen, I'll be satisfied. If it was a flash in the pan, I'll continue to be disgruntled.
It's pretty straightforward really - effort, application, commitment and cohesion; win or lose, that's what I want to see.

Agree, your first paragraph re Agar shows good balance and fairness. I also understand others having reservations but as you say it's not always a bad thing backing an under fire coach! RE Betts. They did take pastings and they did stick by him in a relegation threatened year. It has paid off! A good example. It's a very difficult decision when looking at keeping or sacking a coach. I would say overall in all sports we are too trigger happy to get rid of coaches IMO. Football has many horrendous examples..

Doubt it, their statement says they are going to appoint a top coaching team.
