I've got some sympathy with that view, losing Tronc now will be damaging to the rest of our season.

We've already incurred costs to get him here, agents fees, travel costs, relocation help etc. .

Then there's the potential loss of revenue, drop in gates as some disillusioned fans stop going to games (and there will be some), shorter cup run, finishing lower in the league etc..

Being realistic we shouldn't even try to force Tronc to stay if his heads been turned by Brisbane, however we shouldn't just roll over either. We should look for a financial settlement that not only offers us recompence but also compensation for future losses.

I'd take a hardline because I don't really beleive this is about Shanes wife, I think this is Brisbane Broncos offering Shane his dream move despite the fact that he's under contract to Wakefield. I think this is Brisabne Broncos showing zero respect for Trinity and riding roughshod over us to get what they want. For that reason I'd play hardball with the pair of them, Tronc and Brisbane.

Surely this seems more like Tronc having the oppotunity to go back to oz to a big club and in an area he feels at home.Wether his other half is homesick or being used as an excuse is open to speculation ? What ever happens the best thing is to get it sorted as soon as possible and move on. Wakefield have enough experience this season at coping with adversity !!!

At the very least Brisbane should recompense Trinity for the costs involved thus far with Tronc. With 50K fans filling out Land Park every other week I’m sure the can afford to.

I seem to remember someone getting abuse for suggesting this maybe it was you. People are too quick to have a go at people who post rumour onto these boards as they think they are protecting the club. The rumours often seem to come true with us



As for our club we must look like a soap opera to other teams fans although I think it is probably because we are a small outfit that hits above its weight in terms of the quality of players we have/create and cant keep them making it easy to be preyed on.

We should definatly request a fee for Tronc. In football something similar happened with Stan Collymore in Spain and he had to retire as the club would not release his papers.

Also we should not be above checking Stosic out again as he was a quality player for us.

I heard this rumour last week too. Hoped it was rubbish but it seems to be carrying more weight as each day goes by now.

I get 'told' plenty of rumours about the Mighty Trin, some turn out to be true, others don't. But one thing I certainly wouldn't do is post who told me!! Because chances are that they would never tell me anything again. Some people just want to posts rumours on here to stir the sheyete, but others just want to share pottential info with other Wakey fans........

I think that is where who it is coming from matters. If it is someone who regularly posts and doesn't seem the type to stir, fair enough. However, when it is a first or second post by some random, people are bound to be suspicious.

I really feel for John Kear and the coaching staff, they must be thinking what next.

If his family are homesick then I genuinely feel sorry for them, but it just feels a little bit too convenient that he’s got homesick when an NRL club shows an interest in him. Two weeks ago, Tronc and his family were settled in England.

It puts the club in a really difficult position if true. You don’t want to keep a player that’s unhappy, but who do you recruit at this stage of a season who’s on a par with Tronc for the same financial package. We all know that money is becoming tighter at the club.

let's not be naive about this, the Broncos have lost Petero Civoniceva, Ben Hannant & Joel Clinton in the last two or three years, they've just been outmuscled and hammered by the New Zealand Warriors. It's been apparent since their preseason games that they were inadequately served in the front row and needed a solution.

They are the biggest club in Queensland and have first-hand experience of Shane Tronc playing For Queensland's other club, the Cowboys, it doesn't take a genius to put two and two together.

It wouldn't take any more than a phone call from home, possibly from a friend, where Brisbane's interest gets mentioned and a quick check on whether Shane would be interested if an offer was made.

this is very disappointing, tronc is one of the best props we have had for ages.

as mentioned previously, this will partly be due to brisbane wanting him now (if any aussie team really wanted him at the time, they would have made space under the cap).

despite what the rose tinted brigade may say, and i am by no means in that or with the doom and gloom merchants, i do believe we are descending into a major crisis.

we have lost our hooker, playmaker and now the big part of our "engine room".

we need to replace brough (preferably now with brett finch) and sign a decent go forward english prop (fozzard would be ideal).

alas i believe we will it wakey style, sign no-one of any note (e.g. another journeyman) and pocket the money.
