I know this is slightly OT but with the RL World Cup in 2013 being held in England, imagine if the new stadium was done in time to host a game, possibly even England!!!

I have consulted my crystal ball but as far as I can see the only non trinity game at the new stadium in 2013 will be Cas against Fev in the Northern Rail final

It's all well and good to laugh and joke, but games such as that could be a great money spinner for the community trust when we get this built. We should also be looking to push our facilities for use in the national league grand final.

Cas Vs Fev lol..... In truth Salford Vs Fev could be much closer, unless they get something done soon!

Apparently construction is to start very sooner for the Salford stadium. The council have put in £20m to finance the project. Tenders for construction have just gone out. Sounds promising for them.

The planning software has been updated on the council website. You can now view the comments that are submitted in regards to the application. Follow the link on the SWAG website to access the new portal. Feel free to also add your comments to the SWAG message board.

The new planning portal version seems a little temperamental, it wasn’t working this afternoon, but it seems ok now. Annoyingly the associated documents link does not work so the plans of the site can not be viewed.

Hi All

As KK mentioned Wakefield Council are in the process of putting in a new planning access portal over the next week or so and it should be fully functional by middle of next week.

Given this new facility of being able to post and now see comments on the proposal, I would suggest that a mod puts up a 'sticky' with the link to the portal, planning application number - 10/00225/OUT and encourage as many people as possible to post good positive comments in favour of the application.

PS. Thanks to The Clan for the info on Salford... it is now on my list of phone calls to be made this afternoon!

I may be wrong but I dont think Salford's proposed stadium has been submitted for planning yet. I thiink the works that are about to commence are the reclamation and decontamination works on the site at Barton which the Stadium will form part of.

I.m not sure of any details, just bits of musings I've picked up from press releases and messages boards.

I nearly had a heart attack last night looking at local sports news on Ceefax. The headline said' Stadium plans for Trinity hit setback!' Thank God it was Gainsborough Trinity!!!

Excellent to see the plans. A long way to go I know, but it is starting to seem "real".

Something to note; the sides clearly show seating, but the ends appear to be standing!

That is correct. 3.5k seats either side = 7k; 2.5k standing either end = 5k. Total 12k. Plus the corners (more standing) = 15k.

Standing at either end is a good move i.m.o.
Better atmosphere i would think at the big games and no one wanting to keep asking you to stand up so they can have a pee,pie or pint !

Been on the site and looked at the plans - I'm impressed. The stadium looks fantastic and as has been said standing at back of the goals and seating down the sides so should suit everyone. I used to prefer standing but as I'm getting on a bit I've picked out my seat - can't wait - just hope for a positive outcome of the planning application.

I've also posted a positive comment supporting the application on Economic Regeneration ground as well as sporting/health grounds.

Where can the plans be viewed? Anyone got a link?

i posted a positive comment and when i viewed it afterwards it said it was neutral! anyone know what i did wrong?

Probably didn't kick the for or aginst box therefore i presume the no option ticked comes up automatically as neutral
