With the exception of possibly Kyle Wood, none if the players mentioned are regulars when we have a fully fit squad. If we're to improve the quality and kick on we'll need to bite the bullet at some point and let players go to bring others in. I suppose it depends on who we actually replace them with.

Possibly true, but quality replacements cost - not sure we can do that.

Stll think hampshire is a better option than jowitt but been told he not ad of yet been offered a deal.and batch would of beeen better than ashurst and pitts and even arona.those 3 mentioned have all hit there peak whilest batch as still to hit yet.

Wakefield Till I Die : the point is that maybe when Chester was in charge some of the players mentioned were not his first choice starters, look at the results and see how well that went. New coach may have different opinion, it is a squad game, just a guess but I would suggest that large part of season all clubs have 6 or 7 players injured at any one time. I would guess that by the end of the season Arundel will have played more games than Topou so does that make him one of your regulars ? Even if you consider Arundel, Rocky and Batch to be back up players, which I don`t , do you honestly think you can find new players who are ' better ' than them to sign as ' back up ' players . I mean look at the final bit of business done on Chester's watch ; letting Kershaw go and signing Lineham, it looks a poor decision now. Likewise when Chester was in the hot seat it will have been his decision not to offer Arundel, Rocky and Batch new deals. Lets hope that our new coach recognises the job these lads do for us and if its not to late get them signed up.

We have Hood, Kay, Walker and Bowes for 9 next year. Kyle Wood has been a great trinity player but it’s time for me and with a huge thank you.

Hampshire is a fantastic utility player imho. Would like to see him stay imho he can cover wing, fullback and halfback which is invaluable.

The problem is ,As W P is caretaker coach as he got the authority to give players new contracts

Kay and Walker aren’t hookers and Bowes isn’t ready. Kyle showed when he came on the difference a good 9 makes.

Some players have been told that they will not be offered a new contract until new coach is in place,
That been so how can they wait until then, it will leave them either open to cheap offer from wakefield or without a club

I agree Hampshire should be retained but he is an individual at FB - he does not possess the qualities Max does at FB being able to link with the threequarters. He lets no-one down and would be a valuable squad member ,

Problem is Gaskell is coming in and I think he’s replacing Hampshire which is ridiculous, for the main reason that Gaskell breaks down more often than a Fiat Punto.

Have the club actually signed any real quality, are they any better than what s available at present. Hood looks the best and a hooker should have been at the top of the list.

And is slower and Older You can tell it was Chester signing ,would have retained Hampshire instead

Much as I like Hampshire, he can't put someone through a gap like Gaskill.
Speed, youth, athleticism is all Hampshire.

Arundel came in for some stick a few weeks back but that's what happens when there's no A-Team to keep up to speed, now he's settled in, he's proving to be the valuable reliable centre he always has been and needs re signing as there's nothing better out there.

Tanginoa, Batch and Brad Walker in the back 3, that sounds pretty good to me!

Crowther was superb on Sunday. Tanginoa, Batchelor and Crowther sounds pretty good too.

and what has Pitts done wrong?

The first time Wood has had such influence in a large run of games and here we are talking of a new contract....nope.

Kay is very much a 9 in conversion and it seems he will be a good bench option at 9. He’s created more than Wood has in a handful of games than Wood has all year.


Walker has shown to be a solid if not spectacular option.

Bowes is 21 and will be 4th in line.

I completely get the sentiment side for Wood but that’s what it is. His form for over 12 months has been scratchy and non influential at best.

Kay clearly is a hooker, why pigeon hole players. If he wants that role he’s earned it.

Might also pint out that Kyle Wood was also a HB to begin with, he only really cemented the hooking role with us.

At present we now have foot genuine bookers, Hood, both Woods and Kay with Walker offering good cover. I suspect though one or both Woods will go.

I also suspect the reason Kershaw has been offered a deal is because Kay is no longer a go to winger.

Didn’t include Boes, mainly because I see him going out on loan next season.

Personally see Pitt’s moving to 13 and replacing Westy, he’s got the ability.

Wood was a hooker for us when he was here in 2012, nine years ago. Kay had a good 40 minutes against Saints. If we keep Kyle to go with Hood then Kay as back up/utility would be fine, and in my opinion stonger than we started this season. But not as a first choice in the 17. Agree about Bowes. The potential is there but I think a loan would do him more good and drip feed him into the first team.

Has Pitts got the handling skills to play 13? I'm not saying he hasn't, I just haven't seen it the way we use him. I'd expect both Crowther and Walker to be looking at nailing down the 13 shirt as well.

Wood just doesn`t cut it at SL level anymore IMHO I think its been quite clear to see that this year, he hardly ever darts from dummy half and when he does he is shut down almost straight away 90% of the time, he has quite clearly lost a yard of pace. If we sign him on for next year, fans will be bagging him and the clubs decision to re-sign him. I think he will go down and play in the championship or retire at the end of this year depending on his preference.
