I wonder where we would be if Ted had appointed Lowes all them years ago like he wanted to instead of Kear?

I've never being able to work out if I felt sorry for lowes after the dug out scenario or disliked him even more lol

One thing is for sure, lowes isn't the normal leeds coach material I'd expect unless he's come on in leaps and bounds since his diar coaching of wire

G H doesn't get much wrong but the last 2 decisions hes made will come back to bite his bum big style.

If Sinfield is director of rugby, that suggests that he is more knowledgeable, but he has no coaching experience, whereas at least Lowes does.

Lowes might instil enough fire to get to get them to the end of the year, but director of rugby makes it sound like more long term.

Leeds rugby are about to make the same mistake Leeds United did in the eighties: assume that appointing stars from the glory years as manager was enough.

It might give them a short term boost but you cannot run a professional sports club on sentiment.

I don’t think this will do anything at all other than create a bit of press. The partnership of Kear and Chester had a well seasoned coach guiding a young hungry coach to some sort of success after some promising seasons prior.

This partnership has a director of rugby who granted had a brilliant playing career, brings no coaching experience and linking up with a medeocre coach in Lowes.

Hope Lowes takes his club's participation in the MPG in better spirit than he did in his last one.

Sinfield's interview says he has final say on team selection so to me that is head coach.
I think that is a mistake for someone with hardly any experience.

I thought the same when the announcement was made. "Sinfield will be IN CHARGE" of his first game on Sunday.
I would imagine he will have the final say on selection and on final match day tactics and probably team talks before the game and at half time. You would think that Lowes must have been aware of this and agreed to it.
Very noticable that Jordan Lilley has been brought straight back in the squad as thats what a lot of Rhino's fans were calling for under McD.
Will be interesting to see who gives the after match interview after their first sky game under Sir Kev.

bringing Lilley back will either make or break him. I personally don't see any quality in him at the high level

this fixation of calling sinfield sir on the leeds board is an insult to them that have been given this honour, while I can respect his great playing career and he has been honoured a MBE not a knighthood, this could go all quite sour for his image if the team don't perform for him

I agree. A few bad decisions made but the worst one is by Sinfield. He needed a better job title or stay away until the ship is sailing again.

It will take time to see what true impact they have, but they might have a short term effect, which they need & probably against us. Looking forward it sounds like Sinfield has a lot of responsibility which may dilute his impact, he can’t do everything.

As long as the ref stays away from the dug outs shouldn’t be a problem but I pity the 4th official

I know mate we could think of thousands of other examples. E.G. Sir Rodney Walker and Sir Jimmy Saville.

The cynic in me says Shinfield will be calling the shots and Lowes will be fall guy if it all goes wrong.

A fantastic player and full of passion but, a huge backward step for Leeds.
