Hope so but unfortunately that's the booby prize these days - shouldn't be but we all sold out to Sky so there you are.
Do you think you'll win at Old Trafford?

| Vasty is right, in that, experience of how to win is a huge factor in winning the major trophies.
Although it pains me to say it, Leeds in my mind are most likely to win the GF, purely because they "know how" to win.
Preparation, squad management and knowing how to win, will be more important than "playing the best rugby" when it comes down to the two major finals.
Also, when Cas win the LLS, they could lose some of their mental edge, just as Huddersfield did a few seasons back.
Hull looked very strong, physically and poor ball retention from Cas, in the second half, certainly helped them.

got to get there first. If we win the LLS we then have 1 play off game at Wheldon road for a place at old Trafford. We are pretty decent at home.
I accept the LLS is considered the less of the 3 prizes on offer but it is factually better then diddly squat. Having seen Cas relegated/ finish last, embarrassed week in week out, to be in with a genuine shout of some silverware is nice . I'd rather us be in that boat then the boat from a decade ago.

That depends if we're able to compete in 'big games', flashy rugby is great to watch but sometimes you need to play safe (see Leeds when we played them at Wembley).
Today showed that we still have a fair way to go in order to push for honours and we can't always play the brand of rugby we want as we'll be found out.
While the CC final isn't happening for both of us there's still a chance we could meet in the final, would be awesome to see 2 different rivals going at it rather than the standard 'big clubs'.

| Can't help thinking that Leeds are tucked in too nicely. I'm not sure Cas will implode, and may even get to Old Trafford, but I can see a Leeds and Hull final.
I'd like Salford to get there, but I don't want to see an empty stadium for a final. I just don't think they have that sleeping giant thing about them. For all the abuse Marwan will get if he moves it to Manchester, do we think he'll get less than 3,000 for a Manchester team playing in the stadium next to the Etihad> That's all he's getting at the AJ Bell. The Mancunian-based Salford fans will follow and may attract those league fans who have never had a team.

| When I first started watching the game Swinton were the Manchester club. They got big crowds, had a large ground and always hosted one of the test matches. Somehow RL has gone wrong in Manchester.

| Can't get on this Salford love-in horse. Just see the violent Greg Johnson and the egomaniac MarwanK every time I think of them.
Hull or Leeds v Wigan for me.

| Wigan? They will have to go some to make the top four. They are seven off with in effect 12 games to go.
Top three will be Cas, Leeds & Hull with us battling out for 4th with Salford & Saints. Suspect Saints might get there and then do Cas at Wheldon Road in the SF, before beating Leeds in the GF.
Then again, I could be talking complete b%@&^ks!

| I agree with the point but not the conclusion.
Both Wilkin and Shinfield said they felt that getting to the final and losing was the preparation you need to win it. It's hard to go all the way in one step.
So your point is the same.
However I feel Cas have already taken a step there.
They've been to Wembley and lost and they've been a game away from league leaders shield as well.
I think they are pretty certain for LLS.but I'd put good money on a grand final appearance too. Even if they don't win.
They are building something good there. They don't have to win the treble to achieve success.

| Powell is one of the best coaches out there & this CC loss will only further focus them on the league. I can't imagine they won't win the LLS & expect them to be thereabouts come the Grand Final. Obviously a flurry of injuries to key players & forget the above!

| It's all a matter of expectations. I'll be celebrating when we guarantee top 8.
Mathematically that is next game if we win or Catalan lose at Warrington. Wolves have too big a points difference to make up even if they win every game.
Then I'll celebrate our first win in the 8s.
Then I'll celebrate finishing as high as we do, preferably in the 4 but however that turns out it's a success.
I think Cas will want LLS as a minimum if not GF.

| For us, first things first; that win to guarantee SL, though I concede Catalans being 100% till the end of the season is unlikely. Looking at our run in, I always thought we'd struggle for a win in the last 6 or 7 matches and therefore needed the points in the bag up front, which gladly we got. I think this is a better team and squad than last year. But we shouldn't all start going nuts if we tail off with 1 or 2 wins in the last 5 matches. I think we will get 26 pts and I will be delighted with that. It is a shame that the comp is set up so that the est of the 8's is fairly pointless for us but hey ho, job will have been done. And we have definitely progressed on the pitch which is all you can ask for given our limitations of ground and crowd size

Why is it a shame how the 8's is set up? If you can't see yourself winning many of your next 5, what do you think you'll do against the other top 8 teams?
And personally don't know why you're playing down your chances in your next 5 games? Some tough ones but that's what being a top 4 team is all about winning tough games. Hull were good against Cas but it was only yesterday in hot conditions whilst you played on Thursday and Hull are very Jekyll and Hyde, close game that you could win. Games against Warrington and Widnes should be viewed as winnable for a side pushing for a top 4 spot and Saints haven't really excelled under their new coach so again another winnable game. Even Cas as great as they've been at home are beatable away, Hull twice, Salford and Saints all teams you're in the middle of beat them at home so why can't you?
I see no reason you couldn't grab 3 even 4 wins if you put the disappointment of the cup game behind you. Like I said if you want to be a top 4 team you shouldn't go into a period of games thinking you'll hardly win any.

Realistically we're not a top four team though. Everything was going alright when we hardly had any injuries but now we barely have 17 fit players and even half of them look absolutely knackered. Top 6 is still a realistic target and would be a fantastic achievement if we got it.

Doesn't take you long to wave the white flag.
IMO we are a top four team if we want to be - that was my original point. Everybody has injuries and everybody is knackered - we are no worse off than most.
It's all about attitude now, there is no excuse we've done the basics. I won't spit the dummy if we fade, but it doesn't have to happen.

| Five games left to the split and within touching distance of second place.
For once, I agree with The Printer, do you show your mettle, push on for these five games and see where you are when injuries clear up, or do you settle for what you've got now and by the time the injuries clear up, you've nothing to play for?

My sentiments exactly Vasty, I've seen us turn up with a supposedly weakened team and even I've feared the worst but came away with a result.

If we're targetting the top four I still think it would be better to focus on getting bodies back for Warrington at home which is a game we should definitely be winning whilst Hull away would be difficult even with a full squad.

| Hope you're right guys. I would be delighted. I must say though that any attempt at a debate about what may or may not happen seems to be attacked as negative if it is less than ecstatically optimistic. I begin to wonder what the point of a forum is if debate isn't permitted. I am certainly not waving white flags. Merely pointing out that our situation is tricky at the moment and we have done damn well to get where we are

Yep, I understand what you're saying but against Salford we had 3 players pull out at short notice?
This to me says, 'why risk them?'. Let's see what happens tonight and no league points lost.
I would like to think we will have a few more bodies back for Hull.
