I haven't the time for a full answer, but the principal behind a ST is to protect the club from potential 'rogue' management - e.g. Glover sells to Jonathan France and the club is wide open to going down with him.

It's principals are to help protect and develop the club, taking account of the fans point of view and to ensure that they are not considered last when the important stuff is being decided.

There are increasing numbers of football clubs going down the ST model.

This isn't just a Supporters Club - it's way more important and significant than that - potentially.

I wish I had more time, which I don't just at the moment, but we are not selling this for what it can be and I would love to inject more energy into the issue as I fear many on here (and that doesn't include the apathetic majority) are making judgements without having the full picture presented and sold to them.

Our influence has got us to the verge of a multi-million pound new stadium being built - let's not be shy about the power / influence that we possess - in the right numbers!

I appreciate all you guys are trying to do with the ST, but the apathetic Trinity fans don't like to get involved, the first meeting quite a few years since regarding the new ground which eventually spawned SWAG was held with around a half dozen people attending.

Its a nice thought but I think the chances of raising the money to buy enough shares to get a seat on the board are sadly nil.

I think you miss the point, its not apathy (although i do agree we have some of the most apathetic support in world sport).
There are two many unknows in this for anyone to get excited at the minute, and when SC commented that the purpose was to get our voices heard at boardroom level, that to me sounded wrong.
We should (and i think to a greater degree we are and we have) have our voices heard by buying STs and matchday tickets. If the money is there it should be spent on whatever brings in more support; that is the core aim of any BoD of any club. Without getting step 1 right, the club cannot attempt to go to step 2 and step 3 and so on and so forth...
I fail to see what adding another person to the board will add, equally i cant see how having a ST member on the board would have changed what has recently been publicised and what has stoked up this conversation again.
Yes i think the ST is a good idea, i have been in it since the start and i will continue to support it, i just cant see what it brings to the (board)table other than £50K.
If we trust the owner and the employees of the club to do their jobs - let them. If not they should be gone.
If AG trusts his team, they will reward him with a prosperous club, if they dont and he does nothing they will reward him with empty pockets and an ulcer.

Overall you're probably right but I'll put this to you, if we asked the speccis to donate/pay £2 each, do you think we'd get a 1,000 donating? I don't. Apathy is alive and kicking.

Don't think for a minute i don't agree on the apathetic point because i do, but in relation to this issue, how can anyone reasonably be expected to "put in" other than blind devotion?
If this was a desperate call for cash a la the iconic bulls - fair enough i'd give the little fellas moneybox a shake.

If the trust can negotiate a seat on the board I'm in.
The only reason I am not at the moment is that I cannot see what real influence the trust has.
If I contribute I want to see some return.

The club have already asked for £2 with the lottery thing. Although it's good people arent falling over themselves to give. Why would ST be better?

As I understand things, the reasoning behind trying to obtain a seat on the BoD, is to give the fans a voice within the club.
Surely, if the club continue with fans' forums and take note of what is said, this is as good as it will ever get.
Even with a seat on the board, unless the ST was a major shareholder, the representative would not be privy to the really juicy stuff anyway and equally, there would be a fear that information shared with "our" representative would be passed to too wide an audience.
Although we all want to know everything that we can about the club, there is a business to run and too much public information would be detrimental to the running of the club ?

It quite clear to me why the club have not encouraged the trust to take a seat on the board, it would make it rather awkward to have the trust knowing what a shambles it all is.

depends how many want the club to succeed or fail. I'm in for the long haul I'm afraid and will go down fighting. Kirmond etc have shown faith in the club , so should we .

I'm not including myself in that, got my ticket as soon as they went on sale.

Good news, he needs to be as open as possible.

Hopefully a seat on the board is now back as a possibility. Strike while the iron's hot and people will donate, myself included, if we're getting something in return. £50 x 1000 is a good chunk of the deficit. Let's make 'together we are stronger' actually mean something.
