| Quote ="trinity for life"i think its a no win situation for both clubs but somthing that we will probaly have to do.both clubs will struggle to get a ground on there own as its already proving and in a strange way it does make sense to ground share, the problem to some then is as already pointed out where [unewmarket or glasshoughten my main worry is that if we where to ground share the rfl will soon get into this and start throwing money plus other benifits for us to merge as a club somthing knowbody on here wants[/u'"
Imo us sharing at GH is the end of our club, there won't be a merger after that cos we won't survive to merge, if we don't build at Newmarket i don't see a future for us.
Sorry to look on the dark side but thats how i see it but i aint ready to quit just yet.

| At least we have some information at last.
Aslong as we don't get kicked out of Super League it will be a victory.
I don't understand Castlefords argument though Methley to Cas takes approximatly
4minutes drive. The motorway 4 minutes drive. I can't understand your logic here.
Wakefield we are the MAMA we are the CITY Cas you are a small district next to
the CITY. You don't see LEEDS travelling to HUNSLET or ARMLEY they concentrate on the CITY
like we should.Nice bars nice facilities new roads into the stadium newmarket will be ideal
for both clubs. To be honest Mr Box is a lover of CAS and a CAS fan so it wouldn't suprise me the big MAMA
team i.e. US may have to share at GlassHoughton. This would be a shame but I would take it
over playing national league every week. Main thing we have some news.

| It seems WMDC and Box are driving the two stadium plans together, what is their agenda by doing this? and I dont think Box would see Glasshoughton as the ideal solution either so IMO Newmarket would be their prefered option with the community facilities and funding in place without costing WMDC owt....
I wonder why this has been brought up at this moment in time...

Yes it is 4 mins drive if you live at 3 lane ends and class methley as being just over the bridge.
I live at the other end of cas, it would take me much longer than 4 mins to get to methley.

i agree with what your saying but what im trying to say is no matter where a ground is built even at newmarket i worry as once we share the rfl will do there best for us to merge or even force it in a way,

| The pessimist in me sees WMDC dallying around until both projects are long past their sell by date and the RFL then use this as an excuse to cull both clubs.

Box is a snake and for some reason Cas have a massive hold over him. Have you ever wondered why we have to form SWAG and fight all the way. On the other hand Cas have just smugley sat there all along knowing they would have a stadium sooner rarther than later.
secondly there is a cabinet meeting due in August. Its a big meeting specifically to discuss funding cuts re budget. I think Box may probably want to sort out what he needs to spend to deliver the Glasshoughton stadium by then so it can be put safely on one side.

They probably would try but like i say it won't matter to us and doubt Cas would last long playing out of Newmarket either.
The only way this business could have worked out without one club suffering is a Normy shared stadium but that can't happen in time, so that rules that out.
I'm still hoping we can go it alone at Newmarket and will stick with that hope.

Because two brand new stadiums so close to each other would be competing directly for the events to fill the 14/15 non-matchdays a year.
If all the funding was coming from the private sector, there'd be no problems, but it seems that isn't the case.

| I can understand the reasoning beyond suggesting Normanton, which would perfect sense for a shared stadium in a ideal world BUT it aint going to happen is it..
WMDC dont seem to want to support both both sites which both locations seem to need so it will be a straight choice between Newmarket and Glasshoughton for both clubs IMO, I wonder which site will win...

| I simply do not believe that TWO brand new multi million pound stadiums will be built within the Wakefield District.
IMHO I think both Cas and Wakey are aiming to force the other party to share with them on their site.
For me, I sincerely do believe the Newmarket site is more central, not just between both clubs but more importantly for the community of the Wakefield Borough.
Both clubs and fans need to get real. We're in the middle of a major global recession. Getting ONE built will be a miracle. TWO well... it is simply NEVER going to happen within the time frame required.
Both clubs really should have discussed this at length as I am sure a better central site could have been found that works for both parties.
At this rate, both clubs are taking a massive risk with their SL future.

| There has been an invite for Cas to share at Newmarket since the plans were formally announced back in December. The project is a community stadium rather than Glasshoughton which was always planned as Cas being the owners.
If they cannot now attract the funding to proceed, then they should come in with us at Newmarket.
and as for Box - surely he shouldn't be anywhere near the decision - conflict of interest and all that

I think what he's trying to say is that full planning permission could be applied for and a decision near enough made by the time you're outline planning permission is granted.

| Am I the only one to be not against a merger. I would prefer for both clubs to carry on and succeed but it in my opinion (and it is only my opinion) one of us is going to be chucked out to make way for Widnes, and I would rather a strong merged team continue to fly the flag for this region than one of us bite the dust.
I have supported Trinity since 1960 and reiterate that I would prefer to see a successful Wakefield Trinity, but if the alternative is to sink down to NL1 (with not a hope of returning to SL), then I would prefer to watch a merged team, as long as there was no "senior partner".

All Cas fans will want the ground share in GH (If it were to happen) and vice versa with the Wakefield fans.
I am not being biased as I am a Trinity fan, but the best idea would be for the stadium to be built in Newmarket.
Wakefield to GH is 8 miles. Wheldon Road and Wakefield to Newmarket Lane is only 4 miles. Nice central location for both clubs.
But hopefully this would be definitely the LAST resort both clubs would have to take.
