Jesus Christ, awful news. A cracking player even if he did annoy the hell out of me when playing against us. Thoughts with his family.

That's pretty sobering.

His parents must be devastated. Spoke with them a couple of times at BV. They're a really proud, but unassuming couple.

Not sure what you can say here.
Burrow was a cracking RL player and despite being small in stature, he had the heart of a lion never gave less than 100%.
One can only hope that the illness takes hold slowly and he's got some good years in front of him and it's brave of him to go public.

Every time we played Leeds Rob ripped us apart yet somehow you couldn't help but like him. He played it well and clean and for a truly small man he had real heart. On of that rarest of players, a true legend of the game. Really awful illness, very sad to hear this.

My heart goes out to the lad ,was small in stature but a true giant on the field and fearless .Hope the RL family comes together to help in anyway they can at this sad time

Very sad news to hear, Rob Burrow was a top class & inspirational RL player.
It was only 2 days ago, on the 17/12/2019, i was reading on the Daily Mail Health page that scientists have identified cells thought to cause the cruel condition MND and are hoping for a breakthrough with treatment.
My thoughts and prayers are with Rob and his family.

Favourite moment was when he ducked under the defence in the 2011 Grand Final to score.

Quality player.

Such awful news, he was one of those players you couldn't help but like even when he was running rings round you. The fact that he has 3 kids under the age of 8 makes it all the more tragic.

Maybe the club could make a small percentage donation from our share of the ticket sales for the boxing day match to the fund that has been set up for him to help out his family. I for one would certainly be happy for a proportion of my ticket to go that way. I'll make a donation direct as well.

Bloody hell sad news

After seeing a work colleague with this and the devastating effect on him and his family my heart goes out to him and his family. terrible news and like said before very sobering in that anyone could be affected

Saw it on the midday news, dreadful news. Not only a great player but a genuinely nice bloke, absolutely gutted for him and his family.

Terrible disease. Great player! One, on a very short list of one, Leeds players that you could actually admire and respect, and I would gladly have welcomed him as a Trinity player. Very sad indeed for the lad.

I couldn't hold it together. Extremely moving.

Too right PT. Very touching. His speech indicated that it seemed to already have a hold on him.

Devastated for Rob and his family regarding this news.
As has been already said, a great player and a lovely bloke.
His interview was hard to watch - even as a nurse.
The testimonial v Bradford Bulls on I think the 12th January was for JJB, but the money raised will be split between them now, a great gesture.
I will be there - even if it is Dirty Leeds to be at that game and support the day.

What awful news - MND is a really cruel illness, but it hits home when a seemingly hard as nails RL player is the victim; thoughts with him and his family.

We often think about these players as hard as nails and you’re right they are on that they have a mindset that allows them to avoid pain more than most. Most are also naturally more athletic than the average but it’s only minimal in truth, training accounts for most of it.

These illnesses don’t recognise any of that I’m afraid and when it comes to certain cancers the younger and fitter you are the quicker it acts.

Anyway that’s the science of it. The point I want to make is to all those who recklessly abuse players from the touch line. I don’t mean banter or partisan opinion I mean sheer abuse. Yes some players take the mick but most players play badly because they are just having a bad day. Could be loads of reasons but one could be that they are not supermen and that their bodies give way occasionally. In the most extreme cases it could be the start of something serious, who knows.

I’m not saying this was what happened with RB by the way just a general observation. Nor am I being snowflake, it’s a hard game and players know what’s expected within reason. However as I say players especially the younger ones who have barely matured in some cases don’t deserve the abuse they often receive from often fat and unhealthy old men and women.

It’s a hard game but it doesn’t need to be barbaric in attitude.
I like a bit of biff but they are only human in the end.

Got to admit the TVs interview got to me too, so brave to talk about it broke down a few times .Great to hear Leeds rugby club say they would look after is wife and family
