The players did seem to take the game too lightly and perhaps that's because we'd won a few on the bounce and Leigh already had the wooden spoon in their trophy cabinet.

However, it's the coaches job to make sure that they ARE up for it and to find a way of not allowing complacency to creep in.

Having said that, in 30+ years of watching Trinity we've always had the knack of losing "easy" games and equally, dumbfounding the pundits by beating "loftier" opposition (as we did v Warrington).

Dont know how true this is but if it is true really dontknow who i want between ward Mcdermott and poaching so im just gonna wait n see and support who ever gets it

FWIW I doubt we’ve interviewed anyone for the head coaches job, I suspect that went to WP a bit back but I may be wrong.

Of those names only Ward stands out as an asst coach as I suspect WP knows him well but like everyone else I’m guessing.

I will be honest, I read the same on the red, white and blue army.

The names don’t surprise me, though I’ve heard McDermott mentioned more than once.

We’ll just have to wait and see

according to an "insider" at another club, Mcdermott was interviewed by Trinity and was told that he hadn't got the job. I would be happy with Poching as head coach with Ward as his assistant .

Ahh well if the poster had said it was on such an august and accurate site as that then I wouldn't have questioned it



All conjecture I'm afraid.

I find it odd that wakey fans wouldnt want Anderson. From that list he's the only one with a track record in SL of getting the best out of good to average players and doing so without the players, facilities, backroom staff and other resources that Mcdermott had.
He's well organised, no nonsense, has a winning mentality and very hardworking.
Anderson would be my choice.

The truth is I thought he was hard done by but he's not done much since 2016 other than run an Academy team at Warrington?

What we have to consider is that when Wakefield appoint a new coach it is for life and not just until the performances deteriorate.

I believe he is one of Wane's assistant coaches in the England setup, and the head coach of the England Knights.

As I said, not much. I'd have thought he'd have got another SL gig but 5 years is a long time. Maybe he's just not interested, I wouldn't blame him.

If it's not to be WP, I'd take Anderson, if it is WP, have Anderson as assistant.

People keep chucking names like Anderson around but surely it’s WPs choice should he get the job permanently. In which case why would he want Anderson? What connection do they have? I’m not saying there isn’t one or that he may be quite happy with that scenario but we can’t just limp two people together because we like the sound of it.

I’d go for Ward but that may be the last person Poching wants. Frankly I would expect he will go for someone with far less experience than either of those, I would. There can only be one boss.

If willie gets the job and last does go to cas he will need an assistant i like the idea of Applegarth but would that mean we lose him from youth set up so maybethe club would benifit him staying as is so another candidate is maybe finn.of course its all if and buts and the choice of the coach.just hope things are decided sooner rather than later

However, I do think an announcement should be made prior to 2022 season tickets going on sale. Also, could help on sales depending upon who is announced

The new coach should be appointed directly after the Hull game allowing time to settle in and get down to business.
I tend to think that WP s got the job and I think that would be acceptable to most supporters, personally I would prefer an outsider.

I say lots of things on here but they are mostly just musings, I don’t expect them to be taken seriously.

The point I was making was at the end of the day it has to be Pochings choice should he get the job. From what I’ve seen of MC he will appoint the Coach and then leave it to him to appoint his staff. Unlike most of us he has the common sense to leave it to the professionals.

In which case I can’t imagine Poching taking on someone as an asst with more experience than him, if you did so you may as well make him the coach.

People go on about JK being great for CC and he was but he was always itching to be back in charge and that’s why he stayed for one and a bit seasons. You can’t build on that.

True Anderson has been low profile so maybe but the rest, even Ward, are to close to being the top man and Poching is to wily for that imho.

"we" didn't sack him. The board did that. and replaced him with the useless Stone - who had no clue what he was actually getting when he signed which is why he was so poor.
and honestly aren't most coaches sacked - its mostly how it works isn't it? by the same token if Chester was so crap why wasn't he sacked years ago instead of being one of the longest running coaches in SL??
