We seemed to leave an enormous amount of space in the middle of our half, tbf though Sheffield were pretty good from their kicks both on the restarts and in general play, we were a bit poor at dropping back but it was the first time at full back for Liam Kay and as per my earlier post in the thread, Morton looked to be lacking a bit of pace

Who was number 16 ? Good strong runs, did plenty of good work. Mariano excellent again, as was Wildie. I think Moore is excellent with the boot, he needs to work on attacking the line and changing the play though. That should come with time and more SL experience. Overall an enjoyable £10.

Morton needs to go; not good enough. Dont care what rest of you say; he's not good enough at any level imo

I think we need to give him longer, he has the potential but IMO its a confidence issue.
This didnt help with the amount of stick he got yesterday unfortunately.

He's one of ours and needs supporting, not berating.

I obviously did not come over from France for a friendly, but have seen enough of Morton live and on video to come to the conclusion he is simply not good enough.How much time is he supposed to be given for goodness sake, he has been around quite a while now.
He has no real physical presence. which would not be too bad if he had blistering pace, which he has not.
We should be asking has he the potential to be a Hall, Charnley or Briscoe ?
Are not they all about the same age as him?

Got to agree. Sadly Morton is not up to sl level. He tries bUt hasn't got the Pace or size. He's had chances under kear and had the odd glimpse of promise but not on a regular
basis.

Ever since that cas game, morton has been berated by some of his fans left right and centre. I'd like to see those fans try and deal with a high bomb in wet and windy conditions and under pressure.

I agree here and id also like to see u all try defending the right side of the field by yourselves most of the game. Whilst we all stand at the side giving u the sort of crap he gets. Wingers wernt used under kear they had to go running from dummy half a few times a game then spend the rest defending. Lets see if agar can get his confidence back up also think he needs a stint on dual reg.

I'd like to see some team sheets and the scoreboard working, may make the youngsters feel like they count.

That really is poor. It's attention to detail that counts and the fact that in the new razamataz world of SL it's often forgotten that the Rugby is still the most important bit. At that age it really matters to see your name in lights or at least on paper. The club wouldn't disrespect a sponsor like that so why do it to a young player some of whom are virtually playing for free at that level.

Fans aren't professional RL players though, that's the point. Morton always seems to have an eye on the onrushing defenders. It may have something to do with his size, he always looks vulnerable to being snapped in two. He needs bulking up big time or the kid has no future at SL level.

He did look like he'd put a couple of pounds on TBH


I do think it's a confidence thing and some of his decission making is questionable, I agree a dual reg is probs the best solution as he will either get some confidence quickly or make it easy to decide on his future in SL

Yes that seems the logical choice because I don't think he will be near the first team anytime soon, better to go down a division and find his feet and decide whether he can cut it at this level.

Looked like a frightened rabbit staring at glaring headlights every time a high ball was aimed at him. In all honesty he wasn't on his own our defending of high kicks from both kick offs and kicks in general play was novice like, not one player went up to challenge for the ball.

Lets put the boot into a team member again! The conditions for the best part werent tha cracking t was a swirling wind, rain and cold in the wind it was a friendly albeit very competative and the players are only human after all.

Yet fans only pick DM out for individual criticism?

Haven't seen any yet, Wakey are usually pretty quick at getting highlights up on youtube.

I might be wrong but RL is a team game its far easier to see mistakes than see good things, I am sure there are loads of people on this board who are absolutely perfect at their job all the time.

My excuse is.. that I'm a paying fan entitled to my opinion, which has been for a very long time that Morton isnt good enough, which looks to have been supported by a few others. In regards to singling him out I think that most perople have a particular player they dont rate. Whether thats because they used to play in that posistion are respect the tasks involved in doing a job their, or that they see a lot of errors that they attribute with him that results in mistakes and lost points / games.

ATEOTD I cant comment on the majority of the Wakefield side as they are all new and havent watched them indepth at their previous clubs so it would be wrong for me to comment so negatively without seeing many games. Morton has been around for past 3yrs or so I've watched him in academy, friendlies, first team and to me he hasnt improved and is not upto the job, and just because he is one of our's I dont think he should be without criticism. Yes we want to see Wakefield lads in our team, but not if over a period of time they've shown their not good enough / has a lot of potential.

My opinion... and if I shouldnt comment on players / team performances on forums then what shall I comment on.

Hence why I highlighted it. Dale carried the ball forward very strongly and was no worse than any other player under the high balls

There were a few team sheets knocking about in the press area, I asked for one but they wouldn't give me one as I wasn't press
