Quote ="asmadasa"When the team is winning 18:10 there is no need shouting abuse at your own players then cheering the opposition running the ball in.
...If it's led to that much negativity save the money and don't go to the game.
Thought Owen also had a good game today taking his tries well and running the ball up hard with often 3 players in tackle to stop him going forward.
Summed up fairly well below thought Fax forwards tired 15 mins into second half.....

Pleased with the result after hitting rock bottom last week and I think most people would have taken that result. Halifax only led once early on in a match a lot of people said we would struggle or even lose, all the usual moaners are saying Leigh & bradford will hammer us in the middle 8 but they didn't put that score on Halifax and we have players to return.
As for so called supporters cheering our mistakes and cheering the opposition is pathetic but doesn't surprise me you only have to look on here to see some love to moan. It's easier to moan than support and what does cheering opposition achieve?
For me it was a good result into the next round after a potential banana skin and getting ready for the most important meeting in our clubs history this week(hope some of our so called fans don't cheer York court & the council)

| I don't think Fax could play any better than last night, raised their game against a Super league side short on confidence at the moment but were still beaten by 28 points.Yes there were mistakes through out the 80mins and yes I did put my head in my hands on several occasions ,but a wins a win By the way,did anyone else see the numpty Fax fan at HT gesturing to the East stand supporters as he walked by.Had a haircut only your mum would give you to go to school with

It was appalling until Wakefield got the confidence. That came when the team settled and stopped trying to force things.
You will have been pleased to note Owen had an excellent game and most things creative came from Smith.
I really don't understand the Smith bashing, I've said it before him and Ali are the only truly creative players we have.
Without Smith Wakefield would have lost last night!

| Owen has given 100 % for the team this year. Tim Smith is the most talented player the club has had on the books in the SL era : he needs willing runners and a 6 that is prepared to take on the line. McShane and Ali are very good. All creative players need players around them who are prepared to graft, run the correct lines, support the playmakers etc etc. Our main problem is the game plan and the players attitude to defending.

Wakefield were a class above Fax last night, I thought we matched you or even beat you on effort but there was no denying the gulf in quality. Wakefield are by far the best team we have played this season and I doubt you would have to worry about Bradford in the middle 8 because they are nowhere near the standard on show last night and I think it will boil down to Wakefield Vs Leigh for the SL place.

Thanks for that.
Fax did themselves credit last night, as did their fans.
Having said that, our forwards totally bossed the game and most of Halifax's progress up the field was on the back of Wakefields many mistakes.
I don't think that you finished a set in our half, unless field position had been gifted.
Great effort though and good luck for the rest of the season

| Sammut will never get a fair crack while Webster is in charge. He had the ideal opportunity to try something different last night and refused to do it. Good idea to play Ali for almost all match before Wigan on Thursday don't you think. The scoreline flattered Wakefield and although a Wildcats fan two of their tries were from forward passes. Hope they don't get a big club in next round.

If Webster had experimented last night and we had lost, the forum would be in meltdown.
As a club we have to get better at bringing the youngsters through but, after a run of 8 straight losses and the "challenge" of one of the top Championship sides, it was far more important to get the "W" and hopefully start and re gain some much needed confidence.
Both Riley and Miller look like shadows of the players from the first couple of games and this is purely down to low confidence.
Everyone knew how tough this season was going to be and many got carried away with things after our two opening wins.
11 weeks in and we know it will be a struggle till the end of the season but, at least we are still in the cup and we are back to winning ways !

Surprise surprise. As Richard Marshall said, most of our team were cleaning windows and climbing on roofs most of Friday. It is simply not a level playing field. That said, the RFL clearly do not like Fax and we cannot help that.
I thought your attacking looked sharp last night but inevitably, Fax tired as we did against Sadford - that is the way it will be unfortunately.
Enjoyed visiting Belle Vue - just how it should be always was! Until it is a level playing field though, we will not be able to compete for the full 80 or even 60.
Good luck turning your season around guys. Great club and great fans.

Miller was trying to be a bit too clever. He took a couple of steps back to try and take the bomb on the full in goal. Doing this meant he had to reach too far forward. Mistake.

Tell me about the word confidence? Why has Rileys confidence dropped? Because of the large Carthorse next to him.

Now that's just crap and you know it. Whatever shortcomings Arundel may have it's not his fault that Riley failed to catch to relatively easy balls under little pressure - the Fax fullback managed it all night.

At Warrington, Riley was a defensive liability but he always seemed a threat with ball in hand.
For us he has very little to offer other than walk ins created by others. His scoots from dummy never result in a break and more often than not end up with him losing his footing. Time to give Johnstone another go.

Riley tops our list for tackle busts and is joint second for clean breaks, only behind Ali. Obviously he is also our leading try scorer. I'd say he offers more than enough going forward but in recent weeks he seems to be suffering from a crisis of confidence and has made a glut of handling errors and been found in no mans land defensively on more than one occasion. The former may be solved by giving Johnstone a shot but I think the latter isn't just down to Riley himself but a structure failure that better quality opposition teams are exploiting. As it stands until those shortcomings are fixed up then i'd be hestitent to put Johnstone in as you'd risk denting his confidence as well given our next two games are Wigan at home and saints away. I'd like to see Tom given some game time but if Webster isn't going to give him a go against Halifax then chucking him in against the big guns is possibly not the best move just now.

Im saying having no confidence in your centre can affect a winger hugely. Wierd Rileys decline seems to be after Lynn's injury.

Having no confidence in your centre may affect riley's attacking threat and tackling if he thinks he as to cover his centre but having no confidence in your centre could affect him so much its made him start dropping easy catches really?don't think so.
