| I think Walker needs to realise that his freedom of the City title that was granted to him by Box, doesn't give him the right to cheat, lie to and shaft the Wakefield public. He thinks we are all peasants living in his own little manor.

| Quote ="Wakefield City"The only Trust, has the other ever been registered? Got told they’ve looked at Balne Lane and it could be done, also the site could have just been thrown in the stadium pot to muddy the water but will support it if genuine. Sir Rodney Walker said it’s the most positive he’s been on stadium progress so it must be a goer.

You are Peter Box and I claim my £5
As I, and others (including MC and CB) have previously stated, Balne lane fields are a total non-starter purely from an access and parking point of view. It is just another red herring thrown in by Box to try and make it look as though the council are still trying to fulfil their legal obligations
If you live local enough then go down there yourself and take a look....the only access road is along Balne Lane either from the city side through the single-file railway bridge or the other direction through Flanshaw and Peacock housing estates with the latter being the only place where people could park on match days

| From looking at a satellite view, isn't there a more fundamental problem? There doesn't seem to be any way to access the field for the sort of vehicles required for stadium construction. And you can bet your bottom dollar that the developer of the new housing complex, or the homeowners who have just forked out for a house overlooking fields but with close city centre links, will keep it tied up in planning for eons.
The only viable short-term solution, and we need it now, is Belle Vue.

Im a proud supporter of Wakefield Trinity and the City of Wakefield so definitely not Peter box.
I’ve not seen or heard MC or CB or the trust say Balne Lane can’t happen. As for access/parking it would be easily sorted with parking restrictions around stadium and you can’t get better access than City Centre for parking and transport links. If it doesn’t happen it won’t be because of lack of access it will be the same reason nothing has happened with the other proposals.
If we don’t get stadium sorted it’s the end of the club certainly as a SL club simple as that. Belle Vue would be the quickest solution but it’s been nearly a year since that was announced and even mannis cryptic tweets have stopped. Just hope we are looking into every avenue (providing we can get access)

| As has been mentioned Balne Lane is not viable, plenty of land but rubbish access.
End of story.
Mr.Box is just waiting for us to fade into the Championship, then he can give his beloved Cas the ground they are after.
And it will go hand in hand with all the other attractions at Junction 32.
If we did get a ground built at Newmarket, I hope it wouldn't be surrounded by office units and their would be leisure facilities to make the experience more appealing.

and included in that article is the following:
'Developers had been obliged to build a stadium when 60,000 square metres of distribution space had been occupied.
But the first development on the site of a cold store called 'Newcold' was surprisingly excluded from this obligation.
Box had claimed 'Yorkcourt' have accepted that the 'Newcold' development will now count towards that total, bringing further cause for optimism for the people of Wakefield and Trinity fans'
The emboldened part is the interesting bit, how near to the 60,000 sq metres with the add ons and the projected parts do we get to the magical figure?

| Oh I dunno what the sketch is with trigger points and sq meterage, its all a load of crap being used as an escape from fulfilling obligations.
It isn't about trigger points and sq meterage, if it were and the conmen who are conducting this orchestra, had any intention at any time during the past god knows how long to build it, something would have already happened.
Its not like they don't want to develop the site is it, the trigger points appear completely moot considering the potential of the site.
So we're down to the waiting it out thing, they want us to become irrelevant to the development and will wait as long as it takes.
Even if you chuck in a trigger point reached factor, who actually thinks that will move them to start building, who actually thinks there is any mechanism to force them, there isn't and they won't.
Only Wakefield Council can sort this out, unfortunately they're ******* useless, I'm past Box having some anti Trinity agenda, I think like most Councils they're just p155 poor, not much is gonna change there such is the dynamics of forcing accountability.

this piece make s me laugh
Neil Rodgers, Acting Corporate Director for Regeneration and Economic Growth said: "Following productive discussions with Wakefield Trinity on the community stadium and the best options for the club and the city, we are continuing to look at the viability of Belle Vue, as well as identifying other sites that might be more suitable, which includes land at Balne Lane, near Wakefield city centre.
"We are continuing to work with the club to look at the feasibility of the potential sites.
"No decisions have been made at this point and [size=200we are working hard[/size to be in a position to provide a full update as soon as we can."
I've yet to see a council worker break sweat, words they can't even back them words up none of them embarrassing from top to bottom

| Just read Nosey Parkers story of a 'breakthrough' on the stadium front for Wakefield. In it he mentions Balne Lane which has been doing the rounds for a few weeks now so hardly a scoop. But what finally made me consign it to the bin marked 'Nonsense' was when he described the site as being, "Just a mile from the city's[u [i thriving[/i[/u shopping centre ".
Now I'm all for talking things up, but 'thriving' is not a word I'd use when talking about our shopping centre.

Haha Just where exactly is Wakefield shopping 'Centre' I wander. Perhaps it's the precinct 'market' he refers to!
'Thriving' was an apt adjective years ago, before the council slowly dismantled it.

Trinity Walk is just as `thriving` as any other shopping centre I have been to, I don`t think there is an empty unit there and is always packed come the weekend.

Yeah, thriving is overdoing it for the City as a whole but it does say shopping , which I presume means Trinity Walk. Tbh though there's not many City's and towns thriving in the Country bar a few atm.
Saying that I had to go uptown during the dinner time on Friday and I was really surprised how busy it was, with all the little stalls on the precinct and outside the cafes near the Cathedral and up to Trinity Walk, it was fairly packed.

But NP`s comment was not about the city centre as a whole, it may not do anything for you but does not mean its not thriving - The amount of people through its doors and attraction of the big retailers proves it is.
Granted the introduction of TW was the last nail in the coffin for the Ridings centre but it was on it`s way out anyway. As a whole there is no denying Trinity Walk attracts more visitors to Wakefield.
FWIW it is not for me either, I am gutted there is no longer the market in the city which leaves me going to Huddersfield on a Saturday morning.

The City Centre is not thriving.
Trinity walk looks good and is generally pretty busy BUT, it killed the Ridings / Cathederal side of the city stone dead.
The Council then made a right royal mess of the outdoor and indoor market, trying to turn it into something that it never was and was never going to be and so we now have a "white elephant shopping centre and market stallls littered up and down the precinct and these are the idiots who we are hoping can sort out the community stadium.
Dont mention the fountain which is just embarrassing and the old Pinderfields and Clayton hospital sites, which have been in decay for far too many years." P1$$ up in a brewery" and "couldn't organise" spring to mind.
Wakefield used to be a decent town centre but, there is no cohesive planning around the area.
We have the Hepworth which is an excellent gallery but, at a substantial cost and the new West Yorkshire History Centre which look great but, at what cost to the ratepayers of the city ??

This was my point, I was talking solely about Trinity Walk not the City Centre as the original comments from Nosey Parker were.
Agree with the rest of your post - The most frustrating for me has to be spending £5 mil on a nice new shiny market hall that has been a complete failure right from the very off and now a few years later they are tearing it down to build a cinema!
