| yes i was there with my son and some of his friends and saw the guy make himself look a complete idiot. not a great example for young supporters to see but on the other hand a great example was shown by jd of how a captain and a man should conduct himself. the big mouth guy could learn a lot from him.

| Good lad is Demetriou, I've always liked him. Not the most naturally talented but always 100% commited, 100% loyal, 100% tough as nails and 100% true gent.
Well done JD.

| It is a disgrace that JD found it necessary to have to move another 20/30 metres at the end of a game played in debilitating heat to attempt to appease the so-called supporter,RDM.
I had endured a bellyful from 2 males wearing Wakefield shirts (from previous seasons) and must apologise to an amiable female, wearing a Saint Helens polo shirt, who learned a new technique of the rhythm method as she was forced to continually stand up as the 2 incessantly plied the Harlequins club with money so they could drink beer as the only interruption to abusing the Wakefield players, whilst using obscenities for punctuation.
If I was a professional rugby league player would I be encouraged to play through a temporary loss of form for these supporters ? Probably not.
There will be 2 seat season tickets available shortly - I shall ensure they go to a good home.
JD made a wrong decision in a nanosecond of a nanosecond near the close of a difficult game,a Carnegie Challenge Cup game away at another Super League club.I believe him to be intelligent enough to realise that without that disappointment being compounded by at least one so-called supporter hyperventilating, screaming and gesticulating.
Please don't tell me it's because its a sign of passion and I shouldn't go to rugby league if I don't want to hear swearing.
J.D. has won even more admirers with his action. It takes a man to apologise and as yet,I haven't seen one from RDM.

I am not going to apologise for being passionate about the club I support & as for the OP I may well have been shouting at JD, but I certainly wasn't swearing as you mistakenly allege.
Fine, I wasn't shouting at JD when he was 2 feet away - he was able to hear me well enough.
I'm glad that JD wanted to respond, but that doesn't change the fact that all we have from this year's cup campaign is the dross that we saw on Saturday.
I'll be the first to admit that I may not have been as vocal if it had been a league match where we always have another day, but the Quins side on Saturday was no better than the one we played at the end of January and we should have beaten them easily despite the players that were missing/left/serving a drugs ban.
IMO (and at the end of the day we're all entitled to have one) JD was anonymous on Saturday & his match-costing error cannot go unchallenged. Whilst JD has been one of the best players at the club during his time with us, I don't think he can ever be described as a "great" player and has certainly not been providing "great" performances since the end of 2006.
The time for rose-tinted glasses is over. The harsh reality is that we're fighting to justify our place in SL beyond next season and that needs strong leadership from JK as head coach & also from our captain. I've said on many other occasions before this weekend that I don't feel that JD is the right person to be captain on the pitch & that if we had a fully fit squad he would struggle to be in what I would consider to be our best 17. I'm sure none of you will be surprised that I still hold that opinion, but neither is it any stronger an opinion that before Saturday's match.
I know that many of our fans belive that JD can do no wrong, and I'll leave all of you to have those rose-tinted views.

wheres the link to players who stayed on the ship when it was sinking and refused contracts from other clubs?
maybe you have one on how many games a player has put his hand up after recovering from what appeared to be carer threatening injuries.
JD as dropped a couple of balls and gets tied quicker but hes the best man in the entire camp to take on the mantle of captain and to me he will always be a modern day hero...in fact IMHO hes my number 1 player in the SL eara

That's exactly the point of these forums. We're all entitled to have our opinions & at times others will disagree, take the or both.
I don't expect everyone to agree with my views all the time, but I'm happy to defend my points of view to the hilt.
I could have turned & walked away before JD got to me (which would have made me look even more stupid than some of you already think) or I could have continued having a go after he said "I made a mistake, sorry" but what value would there have been in that.
I have never called JD's integrity as a human being into question as he is one of the truest gents you could ever meet.

I don't think think you are stupid and would you really care if i did.
Mountains and mole hills spring to mind, hell i've said things at games i wish i had not, its called passion/frustration.
Lets move on.

| What's wrong with wearing older shirts to games? Some of our recent ones have been shocking…just because you don't want to spend near on £100 a year to wear something you don't like does not make you any less of a 'true' supporter.

totally agree , i refuse to throw away a 40 quid shirt after 7 months , my fave is the one i got 4 years ago with daddy and 1 on the back as a gift from my lads on fathers day. also i think many of us just love the white with traditional red n blue bands.

| Think it was a way of identifying them rather than a criticism.
PS. Saw a bloke in the old British Coal shirt at Hairyqueens, always thought that one looked the dogs.

| I have to say I'm disappointed that people think it's ok to abuse a player no matter what he does on the field and no matter how passionate you think you are.
The guy made one judgement call that with hindsight might have ended in a try if he's made another decision. If he'd have tried and not got the pass away I guess the same people would be shouting about that too.
There were probably 100 points in the game where a different decision or a more skillful play could have changed the game. Some positive for us, some not.
If he'd have replied to you in another way he would have got in to trouble and got the club in trouble so good for him that he has more about him than that.
For me you can shout as much as you like, for and against, but when you start abusing players individually you are not showing passion you are showing a lack of respect......and they....and especially JD don't deserve that!!!
