Pretty much how I see it. Kyle has done well and will likely have earned the interest of some good championship clubs at least.
I’m sure Kyle is thankful for the opportunity to put himself in the window and his time at trinity has opened the door for any deals and a once in a lifetime opportunity to represent his country in the World Cup.

I don`t think they are a million miles apart to be honest in terms of where they are currently at ability wise, although Kershaw has developed his game but he is still pretty raw himself and prone to errors, as you say though the big thing is age, it`s a shame Evans didn`t make the move sooner as I think he could have been a very good player.

| Also, are we just assuming the clean slate with a new coach doesn`t apply to Lineham? He`s been a big disappointment for me since he`s signed, but you never know...

| We are very light at centre and Jorge could be used in that area. If so that makes room for Evans.
Forget Lineham he wont play for us again from what I hear, and rightly so !

Thats why we all have our opinions i guess as for me kyle is by far the better player.its no attack at lee just from What ive seen of both, lee would of struggled last night esp with the high bomb but kyle was superb,i also have seen both play in reserve games and yes while not the higest standard kyle seemed to impact those games more than lee.as i say though it all opinions

I think the difference is that Evans is a straight up winger that does all the wing duties well, including scoring a try, whereas Kershaw is also a good winger but is exceptional at bringing the ball out against a tough defense.
Ones best at the back of the field, one is good at the front.

| I think KE offers more than either of our two LKs for the wing opposite Murphy. Problem is for how long?

I haven't got your knowledge of reserve games etc but you're right it is all about opinions.
Evans was excellent last night and I reckon he has a couple if not 3 seasons left in him, whether it's in SL or not, time will tell. Who'd be a coach eh?

Normally age isn’t a factor for me as in the case of Proctor.
This time it is. It’s not his age as such but at 32 he’s played a grand total of four first team games I believe.
So you have to ask, is he really ready for regular SL. Well it will cost you to find out as they say.
Unlike Murphy whose wage is tiny Evans doesn’t have 12 year or so to pull that back. Unless he has private means and thus money is not the motivating factor he needs a big contract, it’s just logic, as he has three years of first team max imo.
Now if we were short of wingers then why not. But we are not. We have two very good wingers, both of whom will be looking for substantial wage increases very soon.
So do you pay for a 32 year old in the hope of him doing well. Or do you throw it all at two young players with literally years ahead of them.
Like it or not and I know some will be tutting but we only have so much cash. Running a RL club without a sugar daddy is as much about balancing the books as what happens on the pitch.
I’m a huge fan of Evans and were he just a few years younger I’d say do it. But unless he’ll take a modest wage he’s not worth it the risk I’m afraid. Not when we have two up and comers. We have to choose unfortunately, unless we can off load Lineham .
imho.
One thing that’s annoying the hell out of me is this utter nonsense that Kershaw is error prone. Total chuffing guff. Like all youngster he was unsteady at first but last year and on his return he’s been no more error prone than anyone else.
Why to a Trinity fans continually do this to young players, it’s a bizzare kind of abuse imo.
If you want a player who was totally error prone it was Grix, he was still at it in his thirties yet he still didn’t get as much stick as TJ and now Kershaw does for rookie errors . Wallo being the exception in Grix case

He’s 32, why would he get snapped up.
I don’t know if he is contracted to us or not but he’s hardly a Trinity product so he’s free to do what suits him and I wish him well. I won’t be sad though if we lose him either, he’s hardly established or one for the future.
Talk about going totally OTT after one game ONE game, nobody was bothered a week ago, including you but no surprise there.

There is plenty of talk down Saints way that they are biding their time till Murphy comes off contract at the end of next season. If so Evans would be suited for a one year contract to give them wing cover.
i am hoping we pee on their parade and tie up murphy.

Not everyone has your affiliation with the club which they don’t want to upset or no more invites to meetings. I suppose you consider Lineham to be a shrewd signing by the club and you will look forward to his return to the Wakefield team, this is based on your rule that all players signed deserve our full support. I know you make exception for coaches.

Right now he's contracted as contracts as far as I know run to December. Which is why he's called a Trinity player in the World Cup.
Personally I'd offer him a new one. I liked him when I saw him last season and he did ore than OK in the World Cup game.
Other clubs have been able to talk to him since May I think so I don't see it being a new problem for us.

It’s not a problem, trinity can easily afford it but again we have 4/5 wingers signed up already.
You’d really sign a sixth up when we clearly need quality and depth in other areas?
He’s only played 3 games considered the highest level and the rest against young and fringe players.
Trinity need to be sensible with their money available and invest in the areas we need.

| The lad has turned out to be a very good signing, why wouldn't we want to keep him?He might be 32,but he looks as fresh as a daisy! I appreciate that players ages are important in our ongoing recruitment strategy, but considering the importance of next season,IMO the here and now takes precedence at this moment in time.Don't agree we have plenty of wing cover,I certainly wouldn't play Lineham there again.

Sorry but what? You literally don’t agree with have plenty of wing cover despite having 5 wingers on the books for 2023? Exactly how many wingers do you think is adequate cover? 7?10? Wingers maybe.
So he takes precedence over Murphy, Taufua and Kershaw along with possibly Kay who’s scored more try’s almost than Evans has had training sessions in his league career?
I like Evans and he’s done well. If we signed him I’d be happy but he’s been made out to be some sort of necessary signing who’s a must sign. I just don’t get it.
He isn’t necessery as the squad is. He would be 4/5th choice most likely.
If your argument is he solely he offers more than limeham who is likely to be our 4/5th choice winger I’m afraid I don’t stand with you on that.
Would I prefer Evans to Lineham? Yes I would probably. But you can’t just rip up a guys contract. It’s not his fault we are in this position. If and I mean if Mash wants Evans then he may explore options such as sending Lineham out on loan season long. But I’d guess that the focus is on other areas of the squad such as forwards and perhaps a centre/fullback cover.
Just to add to the above. Although Lineham didn’t have a good 2022 if he does pull the shirt on again I’ll be cheering him on. I think there were some circumstances which contributed to Linehams below average form. We may see a different player under Apelgarth.

| What a ridiculous, over the top post Trojan Horse, shame, you are usually a reasonable poster.
You are seeing things in my post that aren't there; never said he'd take preference over Murphy,Kershaw and Taufua, but I think he would be in competition with them.As I understand it, we have the 3 wingers mentioned, plus Kay and Lineham.Kay is regarded more of a 9 these days and the last time I saw him on the wing he looked average at best IMO. Lineham? I think his SL wing days are gone.So I reckon 3 wingers,4 at a pinch!
Everybody knows you can't just rip up Linehams contract, why mention that? (your not his agent by any chance?)
Just to reiterate my last post....IMO Kyle Evans has gone well for us since we signed him and I think he warrants another contract. He brings cover and competition to the wing spots, and he might, just might, prove useful in covering other positions in the back line.
