| Quote ="homme vaste"Okay. Apologies for bringing something up that is directly related to WT on a WT forum and that was quite relevant to the game itself, some of you lot really do live in wonderland. We got a win tonight which is great, I was there and I supported the boys (Which is probably more than a lot of you) as I have done all season and am as pleased as anyone.
Just thought I would bring the point up as again tonight he dropped the ball without any pressure on a couple of occasions like he has done in every game he plays. As I said he is a good player and improving but just wondering why he is still making simple errors?
Even in victory, can we not look at where we need to improve? I hope CC focuses on these areas and not just "Cant we just enjoy the win" like you lot.'"
You really don’t like it back at you do you, as I suspected you’re a bit of a ........
Still I’m sure one of your aliases will soon turn up in support of you.

And right on cue - so obvious to ‘almost’ everyone.
For the record I don’t rate Hirst either and he drops the ball way to much for SL standard player - the point however was let’s just enjoy the moment but then that’s now why your on here is it...

Haha go enjoy the moment over on the Widnes thread created, don’t comment on a thread created specifically about a player and someone’s view on him just because you don’t think it should be said.
I am glad put the bit about him not being super league standard though.

Apologies for not having anything negative to say about Keegan Hirst, as for Cheshire and vasty I'm not sure how they'll respond to being accused of talking drivel by the actual King of drivel on RLfans

| Homme vast is correct. Keegan does lose possession too frequently and he is not sl standard IMO. And that part has not improved in one and a half seasons.

| Keegan started this season really well and was one of the best props for a couple of games but he has gone off the boil a bit recently. His technique when he runs the ball in is a little strange and his catching technique as well which results in a few errors.

He does I’m afraid watch Trinity TV. It’s not so much the knock ins it’s how many are unforced, seriously it’s dire. Just watch the last game against Cas he dropped two cold and put us totally on the back foot and was quickly withdrawn.
In every other respect I’d say he probably is just about SL standard but not being able to retain the ball is a real issue.
He clearly knows he has an issue because if you watch him he has a very odd way of taking the ball as if he’s going through a process.
I understand why many people want Keegan to succeed for various reasons. However despite being a superb physical specimen he’s spent nearly all his career in the lower leagues and I suspect this is the reason why.
Just my opinion it’s not the heroin talking

| I've looked at the stats. As always you can make them show what you want to show but, on the basis of errors per carry, Hirst makes the same as Ashurst and fewer than England and Pauli Pauli. For comparison, Miller makes more errors per carry than Hirst and BJB makes more than twice as many! Supporters might have their own reasons for being down on Hirst but, "making too many errors" shouldn't be one of them. Personally, I think he adds an extra element when he comes and is one of the few players always looking to create chances with the offload.

| I like Keegan and I think he is well worth his place.
I think the dropped ball thing has come because he can sometimes drop as an unforced error. PP is the same. Neither are bad enough to not play them but both could work on ball security, as I'm sure they do.
Miller as an example has much more difficult passes to catch in more difficult positions.

I've said this in the past, apart from Fifita I don't think we really have any ball playing forwards. Huby usually offers a decent offloading game but England, Hirst, Arona and even Baldwinson (from what I've seen) all seem to be just a one trick pony where as in other sides you see forwards getting involved in the plays.
Not a bad thing I guess, they're in the side to make the metres and lay the fundamentals for the backs.

I don't think the game really has any ball playing forwards these days. Sure there are players who can 'offload' a pass but they are not ball players.
When I think of ball playing forwards I think of such as Bill Ashurst, Jim Fiddler, Harry Pinner, Mick Adams and the last great ball handling forward produced in the UK , Lee Crooks. The last one I've seen in a Wakefield shirt who could fall into the category is David Solomona. The game has changed and is now more based on power and strength.

| Bill Ashurst was better on one leg than most modern day forward s. He didn't need to make any hard yards. He just attracted 3 or 4 defenders then slipped the ball to a back who shot through the gap in the defence he had created.

| Huby is a quality forward but offers nothing off the bench and needs to start and play long minutes, he is very much like Scruton, what you get in the first minute, you get in the 80th.

| Arona has always been involved in the play until this year.
I think it's more a Chester thing than the players not being capable.

| Keegan is a massive unit and seems willing - but he is flawed; in a similar manner to Talima Tautai, he was born with the unfortunate affliction of having his hands on backwards. Unlike Tautai though, he also doesn't run his weight or size - and he smokes like a chimney, which can't help his conditioning.
I like him and I want him to succeed - I guess this season will be the one that decides if he has a future with us or not; at this stage, I expect the jury is still out.

He's never produced his peak Cas form since leaving them and signing for Shudds. He has appeared to pile on the weight.
I would still put him light years in front of Nick Scruton though and do prefer him on the pitch for us before Hirst. Still far more positives then negatives for me.

When Huby starts he's a different player to the one that comes off the bench.
Had a ropey start last season but once he got his fitness back and got into a rhythm he was quality, too many coaches go with the 'have to rotate my props after 20 minutes'. Huby isn't one of these.
Would you rather start with Huby or Fifita?

| On a like for like comparison with 2016 I think we're much better off with Huby & Hirst than we were with Scruton & Anderson.
Hirst is doing a solid enough job currently, question whether he will develop much further but he has improved since he arrived.
