Good signing for Cas. He'll be able to teach Richard Owen a bit about fullbacking. Owen will be able to give Mathers some tips about keeping Ferrets and Whippets.

Yet another of our so called rivals for loosing a franchsie spot who are able to persuade someone to join them on a three year deal - and Cas might have outline planning but have not started building yet.

This is called risk taking. Something we don't do. While our fans (me included) moan about our BOD and "lack of ambition", however with reflection I honestly believe we are on the whole very business like in our approach. This transfer won't have come cheap and could be yet another rock tied around their neck SHOULD they not get a franchise.

How will it be a rock? All SL contracts become void when relegated. Similarly, according to the Wire Guardian there is a one-year option on the contract.

As for being cheap, it will be cheap. He is OOC. As for being a risk, I can't see it being a risk. Warrington are one of the best teams in the league this season and both their fans and TS wanted to keep Mathers. Good signing for me.

As for the likes of Ferres, Hudson and Snitch going backwards. Snitch has been great this season and Ferres has been playing well. He just has some flaws, like every other player going.

Hudson offers experience and our game improves when he's on the field. But hey, Wakey fans know everything about Cas don't they?

Mathers has pinched a living from Rugby Leage up until the last couple of years. He is an attcking full back who is cack in defence, behind our sometimes badly beaten pack he would be battered.

Cas get Mathers on a 3 year deal, and we're told we're struggling to recruit players because of the uncertainty surrounding another license. One team seemed more certain than another. At least now we know why.

These deals take a while to broker...

I said the same a few week ago when salford were offering two year deals to Ryan and renewed Holdsworths contract on a three year deal.
