| I am tipping a tight contest but us to sneak. We all know Cas hate big games and seem to brick it when the pressure is on. If we lose it will be of little significance with regards to season if Cas lose to us it could pretty much set their stall out with nothing to show for again.

None of your previous posts on here have suggested that you have any sympathy towards us, so why should it worry you if they win by a bucket load?

| Yup Ry21!
My sympathies for Wakey would have been a lot stronger had they supported Dews inclusion into SL in 2000! They vetoed that and that still sticks in my throat and causes me some resentment - even tho it was ten years ago, and as such affects how I feel. Tho I'm not exactly tub thumping over it - it's not mass genoside we're talking about!
By Ry21 is correct - if Cas never won another game I wouldn't lose a deal of sleep! I just think they're significantly stronger than Wakey are and as such will win by a bucket full. The title asked for honest predictions. I made one.
But hey ho - it's off to York I go on Sunday! It's lovely down here in the sludge that the RFL's forgot!!!

Let me set you straight on something, Dewsbury never actually applied to join SL!
My brother was the coach and Chief Executive of the club at the time and it was the decision of Bob McDermott NOT to fight for or even apply for their rightfully won place in SL that lead him to leave for Widnes the following season.
In his words "the Clubs (Dewsbury) ambitions no longer matched his own"
So if you've spent the best part of ten years harbouring those bitter feelings you've done so under a false premise.
I hope my revelation can set you free from the shackles of bitterness and you can now get on with the rest of your life.

| Of course it is Ry! Owt can happen if someone is to divvy up the wonga. But as i can't see the great recruitment plan being sewn into place by the weekend, I'm suspecting that the evidence I base my prediction on will remain the same for the Cas game - hence them by a bucket full.
But I take your point - at mo I think you'd struggle to win more than a couple of games all season - but if the wonga comes through from someone prepared to shovel a load o' cash down the chute for little return, then you could finish the season much much stronger! We'll see eh?

Interesting relevations - tho it won't prevent me 'getting on with my life' or effecting my opinions.
I kind of remember it thus....
www.independent.co.uk/sport/gene ... 08745.html
With Trinity being one that voted against Dews!
and thus...

I still can't find the peice that cited wakey's veto, it may be no longer available - but that's the way it went!

Firstly, they are the same article.
Secondly, where does it confirm Trinity were one of the teams that voted agains Dewsbury?

| As said, same article and doesn't say anywhere that Trinity voted against anyone.
As for the story itself, the article seems to be from the week preceding the Hunslet v Dewsbury GF which Hunslet won by a point. The pre GF posturing by Dewsbury was just and only that 'Posturing'.
When Dewsbury went on to win the GF the following year, by a point over Leigh, their mettle was tested and they came up short. To be more precise Dewsbury Chairman Bob McDermotts mettle was tested and he decided it wasn't in the best interest of the club to go for their rightfully won promotion.
The decision went on to destroy the team that had risen through the NFP table year on year for the previous 7 seasons. Without any ambition the players didn't have the same resolve and commitment and results suffered, eventually Neil Kelly left for Widnes where he won the next GF and went to SL.
That's the real story, it was never the SL clubs that stopped Dewsbury from coming up it was the decision of one man who was Chairman of the club at the time.

apologies, this is the other article news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_league/813592.stm
Quotes from Bob Mac that counter those made by yourself
There is another peice that I can't immediately find that cites wakey as voting against Dews - it may have been in the wakey express or the P&C ... if I have the time and/or inclination I'll have a longer shufty cos that's the peice I really wanted and underpins my point.

| It does cite that Dews didn't get the 2/3 majority - Wakey WERE one of those voting against!
As I said, it's hardly the fall of Rome!
