Maybe you could inform me how I would go about convincing A man whose not for spending money on promoting the club or up for any kind of advertising.
You may recall his negative comments regarding advertising and promotion about 4 years ago.
The club do nothing to encourage new support, they just hold their hand our at season ticket time for the usual suspect to cough up..'"
Well that's not actually true is it.
They do market a lot. Maybe not in the way you want but plenty of stuff online about Wakefield

General question regarding the club marketing and hitting their target market.
Does anyone receive emails from the club regarding what is 'happening' eg the re-signing of Batch, signing of Sadiq etc.
I know that the club have my email address via season ticket info, but I think that it just lies dormant as I've never had a 'marketing' email from them. It would be another way of informing fans of offers in the shop or, we as major stakeholders, informing us first about signings etc. before everybody and his dog knows via some other information channel.

In my opinion, I see both arguments.
Yes they do online stuff and on social media, but if you weren't a fan of the club, your less likely to look at their website, Facebook or twitter feeds. Also bot everyone uses social media. This isn't necessarily going to bring in more fans, which is what's needed.
I wonder how Vasty got on with his leaflet drops. That type of marketing is a numbers game, but it can work.

I get it. But it's a money game.
If haven't got enough money you need to find a good balance between marketing and product quality.
We have 28,000 FB users following the Wakefield Trinity page. So there are quite a number on there to impress that don't come to games.
Saying that Leeds have 180k following them. Wigan have 93k and Cas have 67k.
We really need to improve our reach on social media.

Must be the age spread of the relevant fans. We do get quite a few on here who state that they don't do FB or Twitter. Amazing that a backwater like Cas can get so many followers but possibly the zoo effect of people looking in?

| There is no doubt our marketing could be stepped up a notch or two, but in truth it’s all about time and resources.
MC is primarily a numbers man, finance is his thing.
JM has his hands full with the biggest stadium upgrade this club has seen in nearly a century.
Everyone else is devoted to team duties.
We are thin on staff, thin on expertise and finally thin on cash.
I’d offer tomorrow to take over the media side if I had all that was required but I don’t.
Truth is we probably need another director who is media savvy but I don’t suppose they grow on trees.
All said though I don’t think we are terrible, just patchy at times.

Leeds and Cas have one glaring connection though, that sadly we don't have, and that is on field success. Leeds also has a much bigger population too, and fans from out of the area. The club also get a bit of indirect promotion too, with other sports played within the same stadium. Lost count of how many times David Lloyd mentioned Leeds Rhinos on air duing the Headingley test in August.
MC is a numbers man, and I'm not totally up on leaflet printing, but I have googled online, and did a dummy enquiry, a pack of 5000, for £56. Now this style of marketing is a numbers game, and if 1 in 50 from those leaflets generated interest, enough to but a season ticket, that is an extra 100 season tickets, which would equate to around an extra £30k in the clubs coffers. That's from 1 pack of 5000. Not sure what our current population is, now, but I think you get my point.
Personally, yes, the club could do more

From the last leaflet distribution has anyone an idea if it had any success at all in bringing in any new members, I mean you don't need that much expertise but encourage new deals for new customers

The last leaflet drop needs to be viewed as a trial as it wasn’t part of any general strategy as such. There were no real offers attached to generate sales, it was mainly about awareness. It was also driven mainly by the fans on this very forum.
I know MC was impressed with it in terms of value for money and also the ability to target and finally the knowledge that even if most went straight in the bin at least they were delivered to the target. Something other forms of marketing don’t always manage.
I know they are planning on doing it again but when and in what context etc I don’t know, but as the club is paying this time then he must see a a value. As you know he’s not one for splashing out on things.

Take a walk round Cas any day of the week (if you dare), PT, and you'll see every other person, male or female. from 2 years to 82 years old seems to be wearing the club colours in one way or another. It's embarrassing that their FB has 2.5 times as many club followers than a city 3 times it's size.
I recall back in the 60s such Wakefield shops as Clayton's newsagents and others used to have big Trinity related displays in their window from time to time.
I've said it before, but wouldn't it be nice if our "friends" at WMDC erected big signs at each road entrance to the city thus: WELCOME TO WAKEFIELD HOME OF WAKEFIELD TRINITY RLFC". Don't think that would make too big a dent in the Councils bank account.

I don't think that wearing rugby merchandise 24/7 is anything to take as the norm. I generally try to look dapper when out shopping or going for an evening drink/meal, especially with the missus or mistress.

It IS Castleford I'm talking about Wollo. Amber and black is very prominent at all times. The most common suits in Cas are law suits.

| There aren’t even any directions for opposition fans to the ground. I noticed that there is one of the official brown directional signs to Wakefield Football Centre ,at Thornes, just one example. It appears we are totally insignificant to the Wakefield ‘powers that be’. Absolute disgrace.

| To say Wakefield is the biggest city in the UK not to have a Professional football team, it makes it even more embarrassing that the council fails to empower Trinity at all. Tbf you only have to walk around Wakefield up town for 20 minutes to see how the council has let our once decent city Centre turn into a mixture of despot pubs and vape shops, so who am I kidding into thinking they’d actually wanna push the Trinity brand at all.

I was in town yesterday I fully agree with you I did have a chuckle to myself that the City was disappointed not to make the cut for the City of culture. I just cannot imagine why!
Wakefield City Centre is a shadow of its former self, no proper market lack of investment no Police Station in the centre it's a real shame really.

| Indeed - how the council thought we had a chance of City of Culture is laughable. Even the vibrant nightlife is a rubbish these days, only a handful of
bars worth going to. The City Centre is appalling, rough and decrepit. We didn't have a prayer.

Indeed
Its strange that when The Ridings opened, the whole city got a "lift" from it and while the same could be said to a lesser extent regarding Trinity Walk, the effect that the new "centre" has had on the rest of town has been devastating.
The precinct and Ridings are absolutely awful and the precinct should be the main area of the city but, has now turned into a shanty town of vagrants and poor quality market stalls, surrounded by once decent shops that alas are now closed down.

| And The Ridings centre is now up for sale again, according to this weeks Wakey Express....it would appear that the current owners are cutting their losses and off-loading quite a few of their shopping centres so it looks as though things are only going to get worse

Wakefield city centre is terminal now, didn’t take long for Trinity walk to start following the same fate either. I’d rather go drinking in the Mos Eisley then 90% of the toilets up there. It’s really gutting to see

| Wakeys no differant to thousands of Town in the UK.
I do agree the total lack of investment s let the place dowb.
For me it started with the demolition of the market hall and market, it lost a major part of its identity.
WMdc had no place for a replacement and the small investment it made came far to late and needed a much higher rent from market traders.
One thing I have never understood is why any council can cry poor with new developments springing up all over the place Ll bringing in rates.

| At least they aiming for it, Wakefield BID seem to be doing more to promote the city and hopefully the new masterplan will make the place look less tired. My main concern about the council is they seem intent on filling any space with affordable housing rather than looking to commisson something that could generate wealth for the city.

| The problems for The City of Wakefield began with the creation of the MDC. The councillors are only interested in spending cash on and promoting the outlying areas thus keeping their votes and subsequent seats on the gravy train. Even the City of Culture entry was promoted as the Wakefield District rather than the City.
