I’m delighted not just because Eddie is a first class player but because of the effect I believe he will have on another first class player.

Despite only playing for us for half a season Battye quickly became a fan’s favourite. Dave won’t like that’s after years as the top of the props.

I think this is a good thing, players like Dave love the limelight but they also need to be pushed. Dave will not want to be compared badly with Battye.

Job done, two for the price of one.

I tend to worry (in my own head) that Dave's attitude might be the opposite to the reaction you mention above, but I hope that you are right on this one.

Good signing for me by the club, a good solid forward that we know exactly what we are getting from which is a big advantage over bringing someone else in.

With this covid pandemic every club is in the same boat it will be how we manage it will be the key.

Maybe some clubs will be greater effected than others? Track and trace is all down luck really, I think we saw last season that some clubs were a lot more effected in terms of losing players than others.

He may want to leave us I don’t know but if so he’ll want to be too dog when he goes.

For me this is a great signing for everyone and well done to the club for making this happen.
The plus side I would think is that if we do sign another player now this season it would have to be quality as we now for me have the full squad and with the back room changes which most have been asking for, for a couple of years now then the club looks brighter again than it has for a few seasons.

He has a brilliant attitude and work rate that can only be a benefit to us. Well done to everyone involved in signing him.

I like Battye, he is no nonsense hard working and a good engine, the changes in the game will suit him. The other thing for me is that he knows his position he is not a flashy name but has been consistent and a good Champoinship player, he is at his prime for a prop and for me he gives that bit strength in the front row to allow the likes of Kelepi to play in the second row instead of prop filling.

Add to this he is a character without doubt I remember at London when we played them in the first SL game I think we were 18 nil up and he was getting some stick from our fans, he was giving some back which was light hearted fun, anyway I am sure he scored and let the Wakey fans really know about it oh and they beat us that day too. He is just what we need and will give Dave some competition around getting the crowd going!

Have to add he's actually a pretty smart player not just a battering ram. He can score for a prop and is always looking to off-load and in the right place.
