Seems to suggest a couple of capable hardworking UK props are being sought for at Trinity.....
Anthony Mullally and Gadwin Springer who are still in their 20s...have the size and experience with one without a club and the other at Halifax...'"
It`s a tough market to be in at the moment, especially with the likes of KR having so much cap space and other clubs like Hudds looking to make substantial changes in the off season.
Hopefully we can find a couple of gems in the front row, I know it`s been discussed to death but a great place to start would be looking at Battye.'"
I think the Battye decision isn’t within the clubs control at the moment. The club have openly said they would like to sign Battye but will na above board with nagotiations. Fact is that until London know if their application for SL is successful or not there will be nothing to discuss. I expect if London don’t succeed Battye will be in wakey colours 2021.
I do however think that we need another quality signing in the front row even if we sign Battye. We have plenty of experience there so I would honestly be looking at a prop in early to mid 20s if there’s any about.
Chester has identified the front row as the only place needing strengthening so we will just have to speculate and be patient.

Can’t agree, was a big part of the Cas shield winning team and ripped us apart in one game.
Who are these better option?
I’ll say it again and again and again, so long as the desire is there Trinity could be just the club he needs and could end up a star. Happens all the time with us yet people dismiss players.
Nobody thought Battye was anything other than a desperation signing, a fat farmer said someone. Now some of the same people are demanding we sign him as if he’s a world dream team prop!
There are very few players I wouldn’t give a chance to and this lad is certainly not one of those.

Springer another player that is super inconsistent, just like Mitch Clarke Powell dropped him because of his attitude, turns up to play when he wants to and he had been the same at every club he has been at hence no other SL club looking at him. Shame, as on his day he can be devastating but not the type of player we need IMO.

| Regardless he was announced as signing for Fax about 2 weeks ago I think so I highly doubt we are looking at him.

Think Clarke was dropped because it was an open secret that he'd turned down an extension and committed to Wigan for the following season.

Jack Teanby 24 year old prop from York City Knights being suggested he may be SL quality....
https://www.seriousaboutrl.com/top-10-c ... gue-28221/
'Last up is juggernaut Jack Teanby of the York City Knights. The 23-year-old arrived in North Yorkshire a year ago from Dewsbury and has proved tough to handle for most Championship defences. With great go-forward and solid defence, the no-nonsense prop is a key component in James Ford’s side and has the potential to take his game further. At 23 and having improved every season he’s played the game, Teanby could become the next Alex Walmsley if given a chance in Super League.'

Yes, I saw that before too.
Good player, and a local lad too, I believe.
Maybe the York player, it should be someone like him would be a good shout

Yes he was, then played at Dewsbury with Jordan when Jordan was on loan, good no nonsense forward who did the basics. Similar build to Battie, I haven’t watched him for a couple of seasons now so wether he’s SL standard I don’t know, but a good kid on and off the field.

That’s half the battle.
Anyway what is a SL standard player? My answer is any half decent player who wants to be.
Natural ability or freakish physicality helps of course it does but without attitude and desire it’s nothing.
You only have to look at the U17 and U15 international teams of the past to see how few make it. Being those ages many players appear better than they are due to physical attributes. Once that equals out they can’t hack it.
I know nothing of this lad but if he’s got over the disappointment of not graduating from his academy club but has still forged a career and got noticed there must be something there.
Huge weakness of the British game is the lack of second chances. I’d vote all day long on these players than past it NRL players. Especially with forwards where pure enthusiasm and bravery will get you a long way.

Probably pulled directly off here, League Express is pretty poor.
