I was going by this article from 2011 when it was installed. It could be wrong and things have moved on anyway. One thing for sure though is that 4G pitches are fully synthetic and i personally have never been a fan of playing on artificial pitches. If you’ve got a niggle it tends to aggravate it.

Wonder why the RFU poured 50 million into an artificial pitch fund to push pro clubs to replace there playing surface?

Surely the Aussies have a different problem.
They don't need arteficial grass because, a) they have loads of land so a community stadium could be just build next door. B) they need irrigation to improve the longevity of their pitch not arteficial grass c) AFL and soccer grounds already have some artificial grounds but the ones I've seen are predominantly in Melbourne where the weather is more like ours.

It was a 3G pitch when laid it was due to be replaced in 2018 with a 4G pitch. Don’t know if that’s been done yet.

The pitch people on here are on about was 3G and always was once the grass was ripped up. Sorry.

Kettlethorpe high school make a small fortune renting out their 3G/4G pitch to all and sundry all year round ,so for me it’s a no brainier as a significant revenue stream for the club that sadly traditional grass can’t compete with .

Maybe it has something to do with other sports being played on it as well, so long as it doesn't look like it's been chalked on like that Toronto pitch am not too fussed really.

Although I’m disappointed the natural grass has to be removed, I fully understand why the 4G replacement is required. The Stadium will have an all year round, multi sport use, the only downside at the moment is pitch markings for different sports. Now is not the time for nit picking, we have waited long enough,

Perhaps the club can cut up the pitch and sell off the pieces. Then NGB4C can buy them all and it’s a win/win situation.

Indeed, I think some people forget that a RL club is a business, we don`t have backers with and endless pit of money as some other clubs do, we need to be smart and ensure that Wakefield Trinity is sustainable moving forward and MC and JM are doing a good job in doing just that. Not only does it cut costs in terms of not paying to train somewhere else year round, we get an income for pitch hire (Albeit small) without having our pitch ruined and another cost saving is the maintenance, read somewhere on average it takes around 10-15k a year to maintain a pro playing surface, obviously there is an up font cost with the 4g pitch but financially we will be much better off in the long run.

Maybe after hearing NGBC`s concern they might just scrap all that though, maybe even revoke the deal they have signed with Lino.
