He *can* say whatever he likes - that doesn't mean he should; and if he chooses to say such unpleasant and inflammatory things out loud - he should expect to be challenged, and for those views to limit his opportunities in life - which is often the case these days. Try going to a job interview and citing Hitler as one of the people you most admire - it will be a belief that you are entitled to have and express, but will be naturally self-limiting.

On this occasion however, Catalans have chosen to ignore his rampant homophobia and bigotry, because he's half-decent at RL; that to me is an error on their part, and sends entirely the wrong message about them as a club, and the sport of RL - which is supposed to be inclusive and welcoming.

On a related matter - why are religious nutjobs so obsessed with sex? They seem to want to prescribe who you stick it in, in what position, and which bits of the bits you stick in should be left intact, or otherwise. It's positively creepy.

I dont think that him getting stick at any or every RL game will make the slightest bit of difference to his views and in a way, it shouldn't.
As so many have said, he is entitled to think whatever the heck he wants.
The error here is from those at Catalan, who believe that employing people with those very publicly held views, will improve them as a club or more importantly as an employer.
Wigan have made a great move for their home game against Catalan and declared it LGBT day. I dont like Wigan but, on this one, they are at least doing the right thing.
Catalan need to have a look at themselves. Their record on taking players already banned down under is shocking and this is just a further backward step.
I wish that Keegan was still playing for Trinity, it would have made round 2 just that little bit more interesting.

Perhaps he thinks that the majority of people share his opinion (who knows, maybe they do). A lot of fans and clubs letting him know they don’t agree with him may give him pause for thought. One thing is certain, his views shouldn’t go unopposed and it can’t be done much more publicly than a rugby league match.

Personally couldn’t give a monkeys about him spouting off As it’s only one mans views ,just ignore it and treat it with the contempt it deserves .Im old school and don’t get wound up by every inflammatory remark that’s put on social media Or I wouldn’t go out of the house .All I’m interested in is that he adds something to super league as the last time I looked he ain’t killed no one ,he’s just put his personal view out there

Wouldn't it be nice to live in a world where everybody of whatever race, creed, religion,beliefs or sexual persuasion, could take the proverbial pi55 out of each other and just sit back and have a good laugh about it all. instead we get uptight about the slightest thing and worry ourselves sick about whether we could be prosecuted for it or not. Equality throughout the world!!! If someone takes the mick or "insults" you, then just do the same back and agree to differ, shake hands and move on.

I suppose if people weren't assaulted or killed on the back of been LGBT then I suppose we could all have a laugh and take the proverbial.

I agree about how great it would be if all people, regardless of race, creed, colour or sexual preference could get along and I'm also old enough to realise that this has never been the case for as long as the world has been turning.
However, just for clarity, Falou said that Homosexuals should all "burn in hell" and he also stated that the bush fires in Australia were sent by God, as punishment for gay marriage and gay sex.

Now, I'm ok with people having an opinion and usually ok with those opinions being shared, after all, this is how people learn and form their own opinions.

However, if anyone believes in God or having "a maker", this is as harsh as it can get, without actually committing an act of violence and considering that the LGBT community are regularly targeted, verbally and physically, how can it be right to condone this sort of repeated narrative.

It's a long way from sticks and stones name calling and people with these views are potentially dangerous, either in person or, in "feeding" the minds of others into carrying out their acts.

If this were a religious leader openly saying these things about another religious group, they would be arrested.

It's abhorrent that in a civilised society that people can wish such a fete (if you believe in heaven and hell), to fall upon another human being, especially one that isn't causing any harm to another person, they are merely trying to live their lives.

For those that believe its ok and without consequence, just think a little more whether this is the case.

Hardaker has got loads of stick, as did Carney and Ferres, and Hock, for example, with his drugs scandal. Lui is the only one I was not aware of till recently. We of course have had our own questionable players, Johnson, Cockayne, Smith, Latu.

RL players are not a moral compass, they reflect society and there are some pretty ty people out there. Best thing with Falou is to show you dont agree with his views rather than try to shut him up.

The players that you mention haven't covered themselves in glory, have they and if the game ever wants to clean up it's image then, perhaps they should think a little more about some of the signings that are made.

Many different religions preach a similar view to Falou, which is why certain groups in society end up getting abused, both verbally and physically, just for going about their every day lives.
This issue says more about Catalan and their willingness to sign anyone, regardless of their past.

As for Falou thinking these things, yes he does and he also PUBLICISEs them in order to influence the opinion of others.
Is he inciting hatred and are "we" as a sport condoning that position by inviting him in - make your own mind up.

As with many of these issues, nobody is too bothered unless it affects them personally but, they should be.

For me, I see Falou's beliefs as a product of his religious upbringing, and if he'd been brought up in a different environment, he'd probably think differently, and not that he's an inherently bad person. There is an argument that the higher moral ground we should adopt is to show the tolerance he doesn't. The Wigan response is a good one. I do feel uncomfortable about saying a person can never work again in their chosen field because of their religious beliefs (and I am speaking as an athiest). He is saying nothing more than what the bible (and other religious books) tell him, and this is a view endorsed by the Church of England only last week, by saying that any sex other than heterosexual married sex is wrong (and thus implicitly unchristian, and thus rendering a red line through your name when you get to the pearly gates, which means hell).

To be clear, his views are wrong, offensive, and complete twaddle. But they are views also held by the Church of England, officially, and in vast numbers by their members.

The interesting point about of all this is that the readiness of Catalans to always offer a home for disgraced antipodeans. Perhaps twitter is different over there, so they can exchange opposing views with some degree of civility, rather than the cesspit it has become in the English-speaking countries.

Given the C of E's record on sheltering and covering up for child rapists, they have zero moral authority on this or any other issue; they have for decades been a safe haven for paedophiles and abusers of many different stripes - although interestingly, I've never seen little Stephen Yaxley Lennon and his knuckle-dragging fans picketing them, or calling for all C of E members to be hounded out of the country. I wonder what point of difference they've identified between the C of E, and the Pakistani grooming gangs? That aside - for me, the C of E, and every other organised religion, should have no place in the public sphere - they represent an increasingly small number of people, have hideous historical crimes and misdemeanours on their records, and preach on the basis of magical nonsense, usually 'revealed' to an illiterate savage in a desert somewhere, in the dark ages.

In broader terms and in respect of his employment - it is of course the right of any individual to hold certain views and within legal limits, express them; it is also the right of an employer to have certain values around inclusivity and diversity, and expect their employees to abide by them - when they don't, that employee can legitimately be denied a role, or removed from one they already have. In RL, I would expect the RFL and SL to have clear policies, for clubs to mirror them, and use them to ensure that players and ambassadors of the sport are operating within those policy parameters, regardless of their personal beliefs. Folau has demonstrably failed to do that, but has been given a job at Catalans anyway - which suggests that they don't have a policy, don't abide by the policy of the governing body, and/or only use the policy for people who aren't any good; and it certainly demonstrates that they don't give a damn about their LGBT players, staff, supporters and sponsors - all of which is reprehensible.

I hope his abhorrent views make his time in SL intolerable, and he is sent home with his tail between his legs; if he wants to wang on about gays and adulterers, let him do so to his congregation of fellow slaves, who have abrogated their freedom of thought to an ancient book, made up by people with the express intent of controlling the population.
